Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?
luluc replied to coltonwade's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Morning~ I'm kida w/you Bigbaby - nervous putting photos out there. The only before photo (cause I hid from a camera for 5yrs) I have is on my friends website and I'm with a bunch of friends. I don't know how to clip / cut blah...and get it uploaded w/some of my after shots...Anyway if someone knows how to do that let me know...I'll post here. Went and had Sushi w/friends last night - some I hadn't seen since getting the band, and was told I was not recognizable. I know I've lost a crap load of inches vs weight here lately, and that's making me look smaller but I think everyone was more shocked I cut all my hair. I've always had really long wavy hair - and I chopped 14inches off 2months ago, and I went a little shorter this wk ... Love it that way now running. So running - I'm going to do 2 days of wk 6 again / Going to wait till I'm back next wk from skiing before attemptin wk 7. Not sure if I'm going to run today **hubby wants to try a spin class** - Gotta tell you I'd really like to try this but don't want to look too much like a fool puttering out early ...LOL..... Happy Sunday~ -
Really depends if your going through Insurance or Self Pay. If your Self Pay - the process can be extremely fast , Insurance however may have certain requirements that could delay your surgery (ie - 6 month supervised diet / tests / etc). Suggestion, if you plan on going through Insurance - contact them immediately and find out their Policy on Weight Loss Surgery / Bariatrics.

Lump in my breast, was it always there but didn't notice from the fat
luluc replied to Babydolls's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any of your Dr's should be able to help but GO immediately and have it checked out. I have "lumpy breasts" - but with Breast Cancer in my Family I get checked twice a year (OBYGN), and once a year I have a mamogram w/ sonogram. I do both, since a mamogram can miss certain things - a lumpy breast is easy to determine via sonogram. Please get this checked out, don't ignore any signs.~ -
Can Nurses Take A Course To Learn How To Do Fills?
luluc replied to juney1968's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm just curious if you had your fill done at the Surgery Center of Richardson, TX? My husband was filled by a MA there who cause significant pain * bruising to him. When I called to make a formal complaint (I was not filled by her the same day) I was notified there is a process to get "Her" removed - and I complied in making this a formal complaint - along w/my surgeon who uses SCR. Feel free to PM me if this is your situation and the remedy we took to ensure her departure. I'm not one to get one fired - or cause a stink, I sent photos to the Center and they were distraught and want to fix the situation.... -
Newbie Questions - Need your 2lbs input from experienced bandsters....
luluc replied to Manda_T's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not a fan of protein shakes, the only one I found that I like is the EAS Carb Control Strawberry & Creame. It's 110calories & 17grams of Protein....I can do the Atkins Vanilla if I can't get the EAS - but those are it for me. Best advise for Post Op - Don't expect not to be hungry, or loose fast. Till your healed and you start getting your fills will you then realize how the band will / should work...Oh and check into this site, LOTS of great info..Good Luck!! -
Thank you Ghost! My husband (also banded) has a late night sweet thing going on, and I just don't keep "temptation" in the house period & I need to come up with something in a "healthy" way. Love the cottage cheese idea, I can totally do that, maybe add some fresh berries~ I'm so glad I lost my sweet tooth , DH however gets pissy I don't have a litt'le something - something for him...Again thanks!:w00t:

Like Sue said, maybe adding a daily vitamin / B12 shot (I get these monthly) or walking to your daily routine will help. Everytime I feel down and don't think I have the energy to workout I still force myself & once I'm there and moving I'm grateful I did & I get a boost from it. You also might want to mix your protein up a bit. If your getting that 60g a day from Protein Shakes you might want to add lean meats/fish/dairy to your diet. Good Luck to ya~

What are you average times you eat your 3 meals?
luluc replied to ebonie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow Ebonie - You lost 78lbs w/one fill!!??!! That's amazing - I'm going for fill #6 Monday and HOPE I get to that sweet place , I've been more hungry since my last fill than since Pre Banding. Not sure if it's cause I'm working out crazy - or what , but it's been all self control w/a slip here / there. I measure my food about 50% of the time. I'm not consistent w/it , especially days I'm more hungry *I don't measure - cause I want a bit more* I know what my yogurt/cottage cheese/oatmeal *prepkged meals* weigh in oz's, the fresh meals I make at home I can gauge by their size now how much they weigh..:w00t: -

My Doc says no Snacks too - but if I do, make them small & healthy. Seems like the harder I work out the snack is needed. B- 8:30-9:30am L- 12:30-1pm D- 5:30-6pm **trying not to eat after 6:30pm** Snack - depends sometimes in late afternoon *ususally handful of almonds/walnuts* -
I regret having the lap band surgery (m)
luluc replied to allykat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hopefully your husband will realize you did this for You and Your Health. He sounds like he's afraid you'll change vs gaining a healthy lifestyle - those appear to be issues that he'll need to work through. You shouldn't feel guilty for a making a decision for better health, nor should you sabotage yourself now that you are banded. I think you should continue to talk w/him about this and make him part of your journey - he might be feeling "left out", and if you invovle him in all areas he might just embrace this sooner rather than later. All the best~ -
That made me giggle!! I waited 2 wks, and that's because of my husband :huggie: We were banded the same day and he had a LONGER recovery time than I did. He was a bit of a baby :w00t:.

Fat Free Refried Beans & a dolup *sp* of light Sour Cream / Salsa was another Fav of mine during Mushies. Tuna or Egg salad w/Light Mayo, oatmeal, Scrambled eggs were a few more. I believe there's a link or 2 if you do a search on the Mushy stages...

I went to her site, and it is appealing - however I know it wont' work for me. I signed up for EDiets a year before getting banded, and it just wasnt' something that motivated me. I need a trainer that I see each wk and be accoutable to - otherwise, it's just another email I might ignore. I really like Jillian **would love for her to be in TX ...LOL** - I'll be interested in seeing results from anyone who signs up...all the best!

My typical Breakfast is FF yogurt w/ granola & fresh berries. A scrambled egg, oatmeal w/fresh fruit, or EAS Carb Control Shake are my other options.

Nicole - I wish you all the best. I can't for the moment recall which member it was that appealed & won w/BCBS, maybe if you do a search you might find her (believe it was a "her"). BCBS played a LOT of games and changed requirements midstream in my process - I eventually went self pay to get the procedure done sooner rather than wait. Again ---- much luck to you,

29Feb - losingjusme's plastics day

wow - posting so soon!!! all the best for a speedy recovery!! -
The only treat I allow for myself is once a month while out to diner I'll have an extra glass of wine. I do this only if I did a workout that day * and I never miss that workout, to have one of my vices* Thankfully I've lost the craving for the carbs or sweets that helped me get fluffy - It's not been difficult to make good healthy choices, ... I don't see a treat her or there is a bad thing, I'd keep it to a minimum though:)

Fantastic STRANGER!!!!!! Awesome news, thanks for sharing! I had talked myself out of running today, till I came here this AM w/my coffee - No excuses now:) Have a good Friday all~~ -
Hi - I was an overeater who ate predominantly healthy meals, however quantity was the issue. I needed control over my volume and the band has helped - it also cut a lot of my salty / carb cravings, which helped me get "fluffy" over the years. Might sound weird but I fill my time being a 100 times more active - and shopping/cooking in a more healthy way. I suggest you continue to read on this site - there are some amazing stories and ideas that can help you w/your success, should you choose the band. Good Luck!

I must say that's the most for the least that I've heard of - That's a lot of money w/zero aftercare or fills, very sorry for that. Not sure what part of the country your in - or where you had your surgery - I do wish you well however. :rolleyes2:
-

Didn't even dawn on me - But thanks for the suggestion, I have many a Sharpies to put to use...LOL
