I think there is a sticky of Wendals' - "You need a fill when" . It defines the parameters you should look at if you need a fill or to change up food / exercise. I know I need a fill when I can chug Water after a workout / eat fast w/out getting stuck / eat more than a cup a food / am hungry between meals. Check those out - Change your Protein up / are you exercising? May need to change that up as well..Good luck Becky, personally - I think you need a fill, but check w/your Dr....tell him your frustration, that's what they are there for... Lulu

Alyson that is GREAT!...Thanks so much for the MS trick - I'd love to add them to diet for all the reasons Berg mentioned - but can't get them from coming to a hockey puck....:smile2: This thread holds me accountable to the food - I do the same on the exercise threads...If I write it I eat it / I do it....)) Happy Twoterville??? that the name??

10 days post op what to eat
luluc replied to 817javi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
did you not get post op instructions? by day 10 i was on a mushy diet...i lived on hummus / cottage cheese / ff yogurt / ff refried beans w/lf sour cream. i was not a fan of protein shakes at the time but did manage 1 a day, and it was the atkins brand. call your doc's office and verify what stage of foods you should be on - then do a search here, and you can get some great ideas...all the best~ -
today: b- FF peach yogurt * 1/4c granola...skinny cinnamon dolce latte l- 1/4c lettuce wedge salad / 2oz blackend catfish d- 3/4c italian wedding Soup s- handful walnuts

I see a UTube Moment in my future if I get one of these:) I love the idea - just afraid I'll be famous for cracking my butt ... I'll be a glutten and probably order one - I'll send the link to utube after my first run:biggrin:

freaking about sleep apnea and my 3-14 surgery
luluc replied to lonestar5212's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So long as your Dr knows your sleep study well (which I'm sure he does) - your Drug Dr will monitor you closely. My husband has apnea bad (machine & all) and he was all OK during his surgery..... I had and do have a fear of "going under" - night night meds , not surgery....I told my Drug Dr he better wake me up after my lapband, and DH better 2 (he was schedule an hr after me).... You should be fine - maybe pre surgery jitters..??...Good luck for a safe "trip".. -
I love your NSV's Choc Snaps!! Hubby gave me one today - He smacked the "rear" and said I was a "one hander" now...I'm like WTH are you talking about, and he said my butt only needed one hand now to grab..:smile2:..LOL

Dave that looks like SO much fun...I just got back from skiing & this looks like the fun w/out the cold and lugging gear around. I've turned into a clutz lately & after showing DH the site, he said I could get one if I up my Life Ins Policy :smile2:.

I was talking to DH @ lunch today about the tatoo (we both have at least one) - and he suggested 101207 inside our left wrist - We were banded the same day together Oct.12, 2007...I think I suggested that to him once - but will let him think it's his idea....:smile2: Kat - the South West part of our Ranch seems to be a dumping ground for people who just want to toss their old crap (and I mean old crap) over our stockade. We're remodeling our farm house, and I like to add some of it to the "yard art decor" (DH term...LOL)- but we have MORE than enough... I know it's there when I see a little boo boo on one of the Labs = they nose around and typically get nicked - well the not so smart one does:rolleyes:

I'm taking a day off each week from the gym to rest the legs, I find my body is pretty receptive to the time off. I do 5/6days of 60 min cardio (I mix this up w/treadmill / bike / elliptical) & 3 of those days include weight training, I'd like to fit in a yoga class in weekly - can't always make it (I end up doing 3 classes a month on avg). I don't feel guilty, since I'm pretty active even on the days off. I'm on a ranch and there is always "stuff" to do - animals to care for etc....Now that the weather is getting nicer, that work load will pick up...:thumbup:.

Love that idea!!! Kat - I have some old rusty barb' if ya want:)

how are ya'll cooking that morning "sausages" - cause i get get a single dog of mine to clean up a plate of them - hockey pucks. think i rather one real one *less being a vegan* than to not break a fork trying to cut thru (via pan or micro) ...?? so been on vaca ** georgia girl - ready to mix up your recps** today: b- ff peach yogurt w/ 1/4c granola l- 1/2c tuna salad * 1/2c field greens d- 2/3c eggplant lasagna s- handful almonds

I've Never been stuck / Never had a PB / Never slimed or anything of the like...Hubby has PB'd many of times....stress sets him over the edge..., I've had to "slow" myself down - and only then it was over a piece of bread / cracker - which is "maybe" once a wk. I had a really long talk w/my Dr and NP during my last fill - I told them I wake up hungry! - Period. I cut myself off from eating between 6-7pm each night. Since my activity level is significant (I work out 5 times a wk - 3 times now double dipping w/my husband - so he doesn't feel left out) - I need extra food - Ostrich Jerky (go figure - I am in TX - LOL) was what I should add to my diet. I had been holding myself to my 3 meals a day w/no snacks - but natural nuts...And was told if I'm that active - I may need to add another meal...If hungry.. Hadn't gotten there - this last fill keeps me full 5hrs between each meal - and I don't like liquid calories / shakes / Average less than a cup of food for reference.. My breakfast is normally FF yourgur and granola - the rest of the day solid protein....This last fill has only made me SLOW down my meals.....I can still eat anything I think. I can still finnish before DH - who takes FOREVER to eat anymore....No more hot meals:)
-
Hey Shortgal - since we're so similar, this last fill 7.9cc's TOTALLY stops me in my tracks. I've never had to sip / chew slowly before EVER. And 2lbs dropped in 3 days - That does not happen. Got fill #7 scheduled for the 24th, plan on going for another ""pick me up"" as DH calls it - but so far so good...Hope all went well w/your visit. Lulu

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?
luluc replied to coltonwade's topic in Fitness & Exercise
It snows in TX while I'm in CO... of course:) ..... Really can't wait for shorts, now that I can fit in some. Hope all is well, Stranger - FANTASTIC, !!! I know I was an early slug going in but while on vacation I've not followed the program but was able to run 23min for 3 days before skiing. Pretty big feet for me - cause I've NEVER worked out on a vacation before. I didn't make the 3mile on that 23min - but I'M REALLY close. ... Back on the Trail Monday w/my trainer - who's been gone for a few wks...so it's but kicking time, Lulu -
Let's not set expectations that aren't real. With 5cc's put in at surgery, and 7.9 in my 10cc band, after 5 months - NOW is when I have restriction. It did not occur instantly, and should not be eluded to an overnight success. It takes a certain road to take with your surgeon to get to the proper fill restriction. Having an advanced fill with the Allergan Band does not guarantee any level of success vs those w/out a surgical fill. I knew I would be getting a fill during surgery - it's protocol w/my surgeon - and to advise of the amount upon recovery. Reaching restriction is so personal - that one can not equate a non fill surgical procedure vs another and say one has an advantage. I was banded the same day as my husband, and he had 1/4 the fill I had - and reached restriction much earlier. This journey is not the same for any 2 persons - regardless of their band type.
-
I keep going in for fills - because I haven't gotten restriction, to the point of getting to my "sweet spot". I've not had a single problem getting an appt whether that be every 2 to 4 wks - depending. I was banded 2 days after you (along w/my husband ), and I've had 6 fills....my husband on the other hand has only had 3. He got restriction pretty early on - I'm working a lot harder with diet and exercise. I'm betting I'll need 2 more fills (which will put me over 8cc's) before I get properly restricted - My surgeon agrees, he thinks 8.5cc's will be my target...but he does not want to rush me to that level all at once (hence the fills every 2/4 wks). I rely on will power a BUNCH:smile:

So I've been to 3 professional speaking classes in my former life.. All stated to rest my hand in a "cup like fashion" when given "pause". Not sure if it was for my audience or for me to put my "talkative hands" somewhere other than the air or in someones face. It is common practice = but I've not noticed this woman up top till this thread...I just log on , and plug along.

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?
luluc replied to coltonwade's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Wombat / BigBaby - Love to get together....Actually I'd Host at Couch5k get together for all on board at our Ranch South of Dallas. In process of Renovating my Farm House - but Ya'll are welcome to Ride the Horses / Mules (that's mini tractors for those not in TX talk) / Pool / Hot Tub / DH putting in a sand Volley Ball Court...Once all is complete ... I got a July Date - But I bet it's all done in Oct. Told my contractor I needed it ALL done by the holidays. I am OFF to get some skiing shredding going on tomorrow...So glad, the last 2 years I didn't even hit the slopes. I cooked for everyone & made martinis. Didn't go in the hot tub - just made sure laundry was done... Can I tell you I"m so not doing any of that this yr!!! Catch ya'll on Monday....Happy Running~ PS - TXG - hope surgery went well!! -
I have a card and never have thought of pulling out of my post op package to use. When I go out to a restaurant, I consider it a treat - A treat I don't have to cook or clean up after. I'm more of a fan of not cleaning up after!!! If someone does not want to honor a WLS Card - that's a restaurants right to refuse - and likely a place I wouldn't go anyway. I enjoy frankly just ordering an appetizer and only eating half - If I get an entree, it's great I can get 3 meals out of it. I would have a problem with someone who bought one of my puppies said "this lab is too friendly".

Did you make fill #2 appt the same day you had fill #1? Does your Dr do your fill or a Surgical Center with a Nurse Practioner? My Dr told me to schedule my fills every 2-3 wks w/the Surgical Center (till I get to my sweet spot)....If they try to schedule me something past 3wks, I'm to call him (not had to) to fix that. If your Dr is having you wait 7wks - I'd tell him your struggling and you need to be on a different schedule than every other month. It's tough getting to restriction, you need to be frank w/your Dr that you need his/her help in getting there. Good Luck!!

Oh if I could only put her in a cute sweater...She's 4lbs of terror, but sleeps in the middle of my 2 male labs - each weighing over 95lbs. Anyway - Hope all Texans got out an voted today, irregardless of Who (well I am pulling for a Dem in Nov) ... Cheers~
