Ugh thats just so obscene, and a personal beef for me - especially w/BCBS. Both my husband and I "tried" to go the Ins route w/BCBS and got denied. So our outta pocket payment was $30k the day of our surgeries and they jack up ONE lapband to $26k..Amazing. Sorry - just a rant of mine, not sorry I went self pay - just annoyed when I see Ins charge what they charge.

What is your Fill Level in a 10 cc AP Band?
luluc replied to Motocrossgirly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ops CJQ, that was me that asked the question of size, sorry for any offense. As stated before, if your loosing more power to ya...I just know as a Self Pay, I made sure I had an aggressive Dr. There are many here that are trying to find their way to restriction w/the 10cc band and 4cc's would never have done it for some. Me included - as I was given 5cc at surgery. I was just curious as to why the 4cc limit w/a 10cc band is all. I look at it this way I "Bought" 10ccs - and if it's 10cc's I need then 10 it is... Congrats to "Onederland"....:smile2: -
Well that was an unfortunate comment. Hopefully your Insurance situation will work itself out, in order for you to get the lapband....Getting healthy for a long life w/your little girl will be well worth the investment. Don't run from this site, there are some amazing people who have a lot to offer here!

Kevin, I can understand that cooking is a pain. I actually spend a good deal of time shopping / cooking / preparing meals - since both my husband & I are banded. To be honest I don't know about the foods such as Jenny Craig / Nutri System / etc. - from what I've heard they are pretty horrible tasting, but again I've never tried. My friend in CA (unsure if this is a CA only program - might google others that are similar for your area) has tried Fresh Dining, Premium Gourmet Daily Meal Deliver in Southern California & has been very successful. She's actually lost more weight than I have & I have the band..LOL There food alone looks like things I would prepare VS microwaving a block of ice that's to be my lasagna for the evening .. Not appealing much ... Check them out, Lulu~

Question for you guys who have surgeons that only put in 4cc in a 10cc band...Why didn't your doc give you that size band (4CC)? I gotta give you guys major cudos that it's working for you - I however would be a MESS!! I got 5ccs in at surgery - and am currently at 7.9cc in my 10cc band **just squeeking into restriction** - close...very close. Thankfully I have a "aggressive" surgeon when it comes to fills, for me - I've needed that ... so odd how what works for one, doesn't another. -
You still have 1.5cc (or more - some say) to play with regarding your fill. If your hungry, go in and get a slight fill (.2-.5ccs). I'm losing slow as well, and it is frustrating...Like stranger mentions, are you tracking your calories? are you working out? If you are change up the foods & change up the exercise - give yourself a jolt...When the scale is an issue for me, I get out my tape measure. I exercise a bunch, and I see the change in inches more so than the scale and it helps motivate me & not get discouraged when the scale doesn't want to behave...Don't give up,

I'm doing boot camp now with my husband - Monday & Fridays @24hr for 786$. Little pricey - but we both needed a jolt to the every day workout. Had one session so far and it was killer - BIG difference than the 55min regular training sessions.

that is FANTASTIC wombat!!!! whoooooooo hoooooooo as far as food goes - i find some yogurt w/granola keeps me pretty satisfied in the mornings before a workout - and can keep me till lunchtime (but I do eat an early lunch)...i'm the reverse of some people, i wake up hungry (and if i have a warm cup of coffee - i can eat most anything afterwards). i have an early lunch and after that - i'm not too hungry the rest of the day or evening. i try not to eat past 6:30pm (i hit that most days). husband on the other hand can't eat till the afternoon - so he does an atkins or eas shake to get through the early part of the day or workout. can you do oatmeal? sometimes i'll have that in place of yogurt.. -

Am I going to lose my mind on mushies?
luluc replied to kristi43's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By no means a veteran, but it's taken 5 months / 6 fills to get proper restriction. I'm at 7.9cc's in my 10cc AP band - I've had to rely a lot on willpower - when all I wanted from my band was to keep the "hungries" away. It's a tough time, just 11 days out - Once you move to solid food, it does get easier....and restriction comes early for some / late for others...Got my fingers crossed for ya'll...Hang in there!!! PS - it is worth it. Would have liked the weight to come of faster - but at least I'm at a place where I'm not gaining...for a change:redface: -
thanks karen - i did like the class, hubby LOVED it. i must say it is harder than it looks & appears addicting, after talking to some in the class - that's all they do some say.....

welcome back whoysa !! womabat - hope your back is feeling better, i think wk 7 is a good idea *i'm not even following the wk program now - but running straight through* paragirl - vacation is a perfect excuse to kickstart the diet/exercise; fingers crossed you get your 8lb goal so i'm tired even typing. my husband and i signed up for a 6wk "boot camp" w/my trainer and it started this am: 45min spin class 2mile jog - with sit ups / push ups inbetween 30min leg weight training we'll do this monday & friday mornings for 6wks, mixing things up...so he says. btw, trainer is an ex-marine, going to bet i can't walk tomorrow...in fact i have to get up every few minutes cause the longer i sit - the harder it is to get up... if this doesn't push the scale down - i don't know what will...:sneaky: have a good wk all~
