Menstrual Cramps and Advil
luluc replied to zetajenn5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a pretty heavy flow / unpredictable timing & mega cramps the first 4 months after surgery. My Doc said it was mostly a shock to my system - the surgery / change in hormones. No NSAIDs I was told but if in a lot of pain, to do the childrens motrin - it worked so/so...Get a heating pad, that helps too!! -
Do you have less sagging skin with slow weight loss?
luluc replied to Bergdorfblonde's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
oooohhh I have my fingers crossed, that I won't need PS ***but I will if I have to***. Hubby said last night I have such good skin, and that things are going back to they way they "use" to be....I won't need TT or Lipo. I know he was being kind - but also steering me clear of spending any more money...HA... I've not had children - maybe that helps the tummy shrinking w/out hanging skin...or just good skin in general??? I dunno, slower weighloss can prevent a future w/PS. -

How long after a fill did you feel restriction?
luluc replied to Tater's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh if this was so easy....I wish there was a formula, but it's all random. I'm 5 Months out - just got restriction. Will Power / the Gym / and removing Temptation out of my house is what go me to this point. Took 6 fills - May need 7, I'll know next wk.....All the best:) -
I'm in fat burning zone myself *tho heart attack, sometimes:rolleyes:* I'm 5'1 @155lbs & just shy of 39yrs ..My zone according to "trainer" is 147...I fluctuate around that up to 153, I'm told the lower you can keep your target heart rate for "your extended cardio time" the better...that's what to drive for. For example my cardio HR when I started was 167-173...I've brought that down significantly - Have much more energy and don't feel the early pain...Not sure this helps??? And I'm No professional in any way...

I rarely touch it anymore ... BUT if I want a smidge on a corner piece of bread (LOL - I use to down a loaf) I use the real stuff = Butter. My mom was a margarine whore growing up, and I could not stand it - the color alone threw me.
-
Yep $786. That's for me and hubby, Every Monday & Friday - 90mins for 6wks. Considering the gym gets on Avg $70 (depending on specials etc) for a 55min workout session....It was our anniversary present to each other:smile:..& paying off (lost 2lbs this wk).

I had the SAME issue w/BCBS - by month 4 I was done. I knew I would not qualify (by my policy) with a BMI of 36 and no comorbids - but my husband was a different story. He met their criteria, but they seem to change their guidelines along the way. Fed up and wanting it RIGHT now we went self pay. I had not done enough research to know that going to Mexico was an option for us & being in TX, we can get there pretty easy. When DH's Open Enrollment came around this past NOV, I made sure to get out from BCBS...We had already had our surgery, and I was fed up w/how they handled us..So we went to a different carrier, one that would have approved us...BUT whats done is done.

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?
luluc replied to coltonwade's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I was hoping for some secret mission job myself Whosya....DH travels A LOT, but he's an engineer ...My brain don't work that direction:) Ran 5k again today - down to 36mins, getting easier...I realized the slower the speed, the harder it is...so I bumped it up put some gum in (thanks BigBaby - I like the idea).... Welcome Antsmith!!!!!! Mindy - How's the back?? Might be a pain, but probably moving more might help ya out..Hope your feeling good! Oye it's a nice day - too nice to be by a computer:)...Might try to get DH to turn the pool heater on (or at least the hot tub)... Happy Wkend all~~ -
I'm sure that should be fine & as you said, you can always add broth. I make mine a little spicey (do live in TX ) w/Choirizo Sausage / chillies / pecans / dried apricots & cherries / onions....I like sweet & spicey in the same dish. I tried to stay away from carbs early on, cause they are my downfall - and have worked since day one to stay away from them...Good Luck!!

How has the Lap Band impacted your marriage or relationships?
luluc replied to sphynxmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The lapband is just one more thing that drew my husband and I closer. We were 125lb/189lb respectively when we got married - Had some difficult family issues, which caused us to turn to food/drink. I knew I could make a big bowl of Pasta & open a great bottle of wine, and it would "temporarily" put aside the problems of the day. We were banded right next to each other the same day. I went in an hr before him (I'm always first..LOL), and it's been a HUGE blessing to walk this path with him. He's my best friend - I could not imagine not having him understand this with me .. to bitch and whine when the scale does not move, to being as excited as me when I can fit into a smaller pair of jeans. And vice versa ... he's at a "stall" in his weight but dropping inches, I made him try on an old pair of dress pants the other day , and he was so excited they fit...Me probably more for him:tongue2:. It's all been positive!!! Our surgeon urges us not to "compete"...but we're ULTRA competitive, and everytime we walk into their office, the staff is like "who's ahead"???....cute:) Good Luck~~~ -
I learned early on (for me at least) that only 1 should be in charge of the finances. 2 with opposing spending/saving habits need to find the one who "likes" to manage the finances & can do a good job of it. I'm the spender - Don't look at prices, if I want something - I WANT it. Hubby likes his "gadgets" too ... But not like how I would spend, really not thinking about it. When I decided to quit work a few yrs ago, and start something new...DH had to pull the reigns in on me and work out a budget plan. We have 3 accounts - His / Mine / Ours.. Each month I get a deposit, I guess you could call it an allowance (may sound old fashion) into my account - to do as I see fit ... could be food shopping / lunch w/the girls / whatever. Ours - pays the bills. His - well he buys more gadgets I guess..LOL I felt weird after not working and earning a "payroll check" - so this seemed to to be a good solution for us. Hubby manages the stocks/401k/ira stuff - cause I really don't want to. I'm bad that way - I should be more involved I guess w/the finances , but deep down I hate dealing w/that stuff - and he likes it... Maybe you and DH can work out an arrangement that you take a portion, and save towards PS?? Go to him w/a plan?...I'm married to a planner, if I go to him with a realistic idea & how to get there he REALLY listens....even if I happen to make stuff up:tongue:

Help almost out of soup
luluc replied to HopefulinTX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry - didn't realize you were pre-op, mis-took you for the post op liquid stage. Egg drop soup has a lot of Protein & was on my list of suitable liquids the first wk out. I had it every other day for about 2wks straight. All soups in general are high in sodium (unless you by a lower % kind). As for sushi, when I was OK'd to go to solids by wk4, is when I had my first sushi meal - and eat it wkly.....Good Luck!!! -

I bought 3 suits @ Casual Clothing, Swimwear, Outerwear and Home Products from Lands' End just recently. I love that I can buy a different size for the top vs the bottom...They're "reasonably" priced / they got that "miracle" factor going on. Hide the bumpity bumps & all. Suppose to be 90 in NTX tom, might have test drive one of those:) :smile2:
