your ready BB - that was the hardest wk / day for me (had to do it twice). once you get past that it clips on by. rooting for ya! -
Oh yeah, Definitely glad, I feel better than I have in years. I totally get the cooking / wine thing. I didn't fininsh culinary school - but every weekend we have friends / family out to our ranch and I cook big meals. I always had to "taste" and drink while preparing / cooking & afterwards....I still cook big, but I have just a small portion - don't feel I'm missing out on anything. I'm sampling really low cal / low carb meals - and tricking everyone, some don't even know I have the band:)

i love the joey & chandler names:)

I do have a sip of wine every now and then w/a meal..Typically I'll have a glass - eat, then wait 30mins or so till I have another beverage (water or another glass of wine:tongue:). It's not often - My Dr says if I enjoy wine, then go ahead - pay attention to the calories, and use w/moderation. I typically set a rule for myself, that I can't have that wine, unless I put in a big workout that day - My own little reward....But that's me:)

I don't get the program fee. I've read a lot of threads that talk about it, but till this day, it seems "off". I tried the Ins route, and they did pay for every single test/study done but was eventually denied. I stuck with the same surgeon, because everything was so straight forward - no hidden costs, no scrambling around (they did all leg/paperwork), and went self pay. I would gather all your forms together, and either hand deliver them all at once - or maybe look at the possibility of another Dr? If your struggling with them now, you may have issues with your aftercare - which is extremely important. I wish you the best~~

Comepickmeup (love that name) - I started running around 180'ish and Yes exercise IS exercise - Move anyway ya can..LOL Stranger - here's your Kick:)...wouldn't actually do that, but I can totally - totally understand your scale frustration. Are you measuring yourself, I noticed when I started to really workout that the scale didn't move but the inches were falling off - About 2 wks ago when I got fill #6 did my restriction kick in VS. relying on willpower. Hubby and I also are doing a "boot camp" thing - and it's really starting to impact our appearance ... He lost 9lbs last wk (:tongue2:wish i could EVER loose that in a wk).. I'm in pyshco workout mode - and I"m annoying just about everyone around me with it...but hey, I'm digging my energy. -
I'm a Wine / Martini person myself - I cut that out by 75% after getting the band. 3 things, 1- It slows my weightloss down / 2- I'm a lightweight now (I could throw them back previously) / 3- I workout too much and don't like feeling like a slug in the AM. Each wkend I usually have a martinin or 2 - and during the wk, a glass of wine here or there. My Dr did not say I "coulnd't" have alcohol, just use in moderation - and watch those "liquid calories" Alcohol (for me) helped put my excess weight on. I stopped being active & ate too much... Lulu~

Not sure the source of your knee pain (injury/disease) - but you probably want to find an exercise that is "low impact" . Swimming / Elliptical might be a better choice than the treadmill. I have a version of RA & get Indomethacin Injections each month. I'm new to this, only had 2 treatments - and it seems to get the "kinks" out...I sorta force myself to deal w/the hip/back pain and workout anyway. My Dr told me the best thing to do for myself was exercise - and I find the days (like today) that I have the most issues is when I'm not active. You might have to do a little of trial/error to find what works best for you..

My surgeon suggested I shoot for 135. I'm short, 5'1 - but pretty muscular, as I played sports my whole life, college soccer & lacrosse. My goal is 125, that's what I weighed when I got married, and looked / felt the best. I might be happy at 135, and want to stop....I much rather be a few lbs heavier and "look" healthier, than to set a "fix" number and look gaunt and ill. That was never my objective w/WLS.

Karen you workout hard!! My Doc suggests that since I'm doing such hard circut training - I may need to eat more. At the last fill 2wks ago, my surgeon really didn't want me to go below eating less than a cup of food per meal & for the first time suggested I carry raw almonds/jerky w/me after a workout for "snacking" ... his No, No. You may need a slight fill - I would try a small one and see how that goes....BTW your doing GREAT!!!

Lap band surgery, but no fill right away?
luluc replied to elimatal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sure did wait long enough (and patiently followed diet too, lucymae plus seriously working out)!!! I've not had a fill less than .4ccs - nor more than .5cc, which was what I had on 3.3.08. The first wk I had to slow down eating - never had to do that ( I could always eat fast ) & chicken for the first time gave me a problem - w/DH also banded, chicken's on the menu A LOT. That was about it, by this wkend chicken / sushi / beef seemed all OK, so long as I took my time. Here's the big difference - I can eat about 3/4c of food and it keeps me full up to 5hrs. THAT is what I was looking for - I can eat a little more than that, if it''s a salad or such , but that seems to be the avg volume of the majority of my meals. I'm not going to bed wanting a little something/something - and wake up not starved. If that's the sweet spot, I guess I'm there??? -
Lap band surgery, but no fill right away?
luluc replied to elimatal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had 5ccs put in my 10cc band during surgery. After 5+ months and 6 fills I have restriction = 7.9cc currently. ***Shortgal, this last fill worked . Have fill #7 next Monday, not sure I'll need it*** -
Why would I feel so lightheaded & nauseated after working out?
luluc replied to LynneB's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I have to have "fuel" before a workout - otherwise I crash FAST. I typically hit the gym about 40mins after breakfast - of which I make sure it's not a "protein shake"...For me that's not what works in getting in some hard cardio - I have to have real food. My Doc suggests to keep raw almonds or ostrich jerky (haven't tried that one yet) with me at all times - Good to pop in right afterwards if I'm STARVED, ... Usually ties me over till lunch. It's great your getting a jump start on exercising before the Band - !! -
it's annoying when even petites have to be tailored. from hip to ankle my legs are 23inces long (short). seeing that womans legs has me WAY envious:tongue: even if just for a day..LOL
