    Must be crazy- 60 miles

sbee, i'm right there w/ya....doing it in DFW Nov 7-9 2008. got my husbands company to sponsor me & my bf works for microsoft who will match. this is close to my heart - my mom and 2 of her sisters are survivors, all the best to ya & to all that walk their buns off for this cause!!!!!! “Live Large. Think Big.” - DFW slogan for the Walk!!!
  2. OK - so I looked at your blog earlier and couldn't tell the left side swelling...Now that your circled it - ya I can see it....But that totally looks like it will work itself out (fingers crossed!!!) I'm in NTX I can come kick ya in shape - take ya to boot camp...LOL You look really great, truly you do.
  3. Gadget, with all due respect your dissection of everyone who has a differing opionion of you gets old, truly it does. But I'll play for a moment. Hang Up - Yeah I got a big one, when Bible Thumpers intervene an individual from a Planned Parenthood - I've yet to see one Holding the Torah up let alone the Koran. To me that gives Christianity a bad name, period. In looking back at my statements - I did not attack a single person - Nor have I EVER on LBT...Mrs Flipflops threw out that Christians were lumped into an unfair position for the majority of their opinions on this subject (*my interpretation of that statemet*). I chose to refute that, and provide an alternative explanation to that statement. I have been extremely respectful to those in the Pro Life movement in these discussions, though disgusted at times. NEVER once have I said anything else other than me personally wanting to keep this a Safe and Legal Procedure. If you feel I'm attacking Christianity - well can't help ya there. I'll be at Mass tomorrow night, might have to hit confession for some cuss words this week - Oh well. I've said this before - this thread will not sway one person from their beliefs on the subject .... But take this apart, done playing for now....there's a LOT more going on here on LBT or in Real Life to challenge and occupy me for the time being... Wish ya'll well, Lu~
  4. Didn't say other religions aren't Pro-Life - I don't see them actively trying to abolish the Right to Choose - Sorry, my perception. That is my Hang Up & will continue to be so. And on the topic of slavery - Someone owned slaves, my hunch some were Christians, are they to be condemned like women who choose to abort because it was legal for ownership of slaves - as abortion is "legal" now? I suspect I "might" know your thoughts there. Gadget - I do respect your view .... It is however one, and I felt the "need" to step it up for my opinions on the subject, Cheers~~
  5. With hesitation entering BACK into this debate - I must comment here. Sorry, Christians will continue to to be lumped in this Area, because it is they who choose to make this a litmus test for "Thier" politicians. They are also the only Active voice in trying to make this Legal Procedure (Yes, that is what it is when you come right down to it - Sorry!!) reversed. I don't see the Jews/Muslims/Hindu/Athiests/>>>fill in the blank Faith - protesting the abolishment of Roe v Wade like those of the Christian faith. I'm betting there will be a "study" to show me differently on the above characterization, I just couldn't read any longer and continually hear the same old same old that those women who choose to have an abortion - treat it as a form a birth control. That's just not fair, nor accurate. And if some of you are fine in calling this murder - get a law book out , not a bible. One persons bible does not make law. For those who continue the fight to protect the fetus - Rock on!!! I will do the same to continue to keep this a SAFE & Legal Option. BJ - it's all yours~~ I got nothing left,

    Any good cottage cheese flavorings?

DH is playing around in the kitchen (very grateful for), and he came up with something interesting w/cottage cheese. He's pureed cottage cheese / light cream cheese & lump crab meat. Stuff a small wheat pita pocket and baked them. Not quite Crab Ragoon - but very similar w/out the frying.

    Creamy Spinach Chicken Salad

Hubby (also banded) takes the Tostido Queso / Mixes a drained can of Rotele / Shredded chicken & Warms it in the crockpot. This is his wkend staple most of the time - I told him about the creamy spinach and his eye widened . I see this in his future - FAST!!

    Ear ache

OK - this is a good question. I was at the dentist about a month & half ago, for a check up and mentioned my ear was sore - she asked what I was doing different, and said I had to Chew, Chew, Chew my food. She said that might be the problem - all the chewing stirring up muscles could cause some discomfort. I don't know how accurate that may be - but I do rotate my chewing around, and not concentrate on one side like before...No problems since:)
  9. Believe mine came off around day 7 in the shower. Dr said if they're still on by day 10, I could remove....

    Port Sites....are they ugly ?

Mine is in the same location your surgeon plans on placing yours. Since losing weight, it's rode further up about 2 inches, and does protrude some. Nothing to bad, my tummy had the least amt of "fat" around it, so as it's getting flatter it does stick out more. Not sure how much more it will protrude, or if it will bother me, right now I can live with it... It "sometimes" is an issue with a lot of abs exercises (tends to be sore) - and have not had any problems w/the extra curricular activities:)

    Biggest Loser

I just saw Tuesdays episode - Refuse to watch it in real time, because 50% of it is repeating itself....Drives my husband CRAZY. I had liked Dan for a Long time, and was pulling for him - till he got a cocky wannabe rockstar attitude, BTW: I recall him saying that he wanted his haircut to look like Keith Urban...Keith Urban he is NOT!! I'm rooting for Ali, but it's not likely she can go much further (I too think the boys vs girls is BS), my guess it will be Kelly & Roger. I'd like to pull for Kelly just to piss of the boys, but she was a bit whinny in the beginning.....

Coffee good/ bad effects on banded

I need a cup or 2 of joe in the AM to as mentioned above, "stimulate my appetite". Sounds weird to do that, but I need to eat breakfast in the morning before going to the gym. I have to have that "fuel", and coffee gets me hungry by the time the first cup is down & allows for me to have my cereal or oatmeal & fresh fruit. I use to live on Starbucks latte's and didn't eat till around 1pm...my metabloism was SHOT - no energy, even w/all that caffiene. It helps me get going in the early hours & I'm a much nicer person for drinking it .
  13. A well fitted bra can take pounds off your frame, streamline your waist & put the girls where they're suppose to. Last wk I went an bought 2 new ones **went to Macy*s, they measured me w/out charge** They were on sale, which was good...didn't want to drop too much, and they really make all the difference. I'd invest in at least one good one.

i've been mixing the running up w/the elliptical & bike to not get bored as well. i'm wondering if running outside with the change of scenery would help??? don't know - i guess if i try that i have only another month or 2 to do so before it starts to get over 100 degrees. i had downtime yesterday & spent HOURS downloading new songs from ITunes plus trying to see if I could merge my playlist w/my husbands. hopefully new songs will change things up a bit???

No, My self pay pckg of $15,000 covers a yr of fills - After that they are $100.
  18. Chickie - I read somewhere on another thread you went vegetarian. You mind saying when/at what point being banded did you go that route? Do you do dairy / fish? I must say not being here all that long that I really love you and Jaquis' view on food and exercise. I'm not sure if it's a "twist" on Western Doc vs those Down Under - but my husband just got back from Aust/NZ on business an ran into a collegaue who is banded as is he....DH was like they think of food as fuel....Dieting is not a word used, but healthy eating & exercise is SO prevalent. I love your take on the process -
  19. i use to be the biggest daredevil there was - the moment i got fluffy i got scared. scared of a lot of things, but probably scared that part of me was gone ... and for a good part that did define who i was (fearless daredevil). i love sky diving, the weight limit is 185 and my last jump i had to "fudge" my weight....i realized i LOVED flying in the air too much not to give this up. so my bday is in june, and i plan on taking the plunge again....this time w/out harness bruising due to weight.
  20. Susan - Check out Spiegels.com. They have really nice non skimpy "teen" coverage 2 piece suits that should fit her "blessings up top". I remember at her age the only ones that fit my double D's was OP (Ocean Pacific)...wonder if they're still around??
  21. call bcbs directly and get a copy of your policy - as it pertains to bariatric surgery. each one is different regarding requirements / tests / etc - and it's best to know exactly what your end of the arrangement will require. i was denied by bcbs tx w/a bmi of 36 & ended up going self pay w/true results rcdn tx. i agree w/you - i can loose the weight, the band however is a reminder that you can "KEEP" it off long term. i wish you well!!
  22. oooh i love lobster - maine lobsters were my families easter diner...YUM!!!, and i didn't hesitate w/the butter, because they have to go hand in hand. dh and i do a boil (turkey fryer works great for this) once a month be it lobster or king crab legs - corn niblets - finger potatos & lots of old bay seasoning. it's our monthly treat, ....

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

I'm home all day and needed soemthing to fill up the time - So, I too Wheetsin googled OH - this is what I found: Besides, grazing on fats leads to explosive diahrreah or greasy stools that sometimes leak out into my underwear when I pass gas. ( I know, TMI, but I have to go here in order to explain my food choices.) I have messed myself several times while in my car, but I have discovered that if I eat rice and other complex carbs with the fats, I can bind up the grease without losing control of my bowels ....and I was worried the first few wks of post op on the band, not "trusting the fart".....
