  1. In doing In Vitro, after 3 failed attempts hubby and I decided to discontinue. With 2 other embryos, we had a choice: donate, destroy, save (keep frozen) for a fee. We donated. I'm really not interested in finding out if they were used at all - there actually are quite a few that are donated from my experience. Not sure where I read in this thread that some Christians are against in vitro, that's not true. I'm Catholic & my church actually has a support group for families going through fertility treatments. Won't get in a debate about why I donated vs why I'm pro choice. I just am - period.

Just 30 minutes, it is all I got in me.

hi laniayala - your my age & i would suggest a blood work up & nutrional appt. w/your Dr. i didn't have any kind of Nut consultation prior to surgery, but i did get great supplement information from my OBGYN after being banded. once i got into a serious exercise program, i realized i needed extra energy. right now i get b12 shots monthly & take 3 different supplemental Vitamins each day. making sure i had exercise / diet (high protein) / supplements (mostly organic) took my energy level up wkly - i feel 20 right now & love the fact that the one trouble i had (sleeping) i go night night like a baby & wake up after 6hrs thinking that's all i need ... and ready for the day.

    Homeade smoothies

Almost word for word what my Dr said on the subject. He's not a fan of drinking your meals (minus the day of / after a fill). I've only just added a Protein Drink to my daily calorie intake (EAS Carb control - 110 calories/17grams protein) before my workouts to get the extra protein. Since burning over 700 calories a workout - this doesn't impact my normal "solid food" meals / I count it as a "snack" in my food dairy.

    A Regretful RNY Patient?

turler your honestly in your Lap Band story shows your determination & grit - you will be more than a success. in the mushie stage (and i'm a big time cook) - i relied on the following: cottage cheese hummus FF refried Beans w/ light sour cream / salsa egg drop Soup...LOTS of egg drop soup poached eggs egg / tuna salad....mushed up good there are a couple of good threads in the nutrion/food forum to give you some ideas:)
  9. This right here is why I backed away from the discussion for a bit. I've always respected your view Gadget - though the same could not be said of you in my opinion. This is "snarkyness 101" - and your attempts to engage the last wk of 2 news media items, they weren't for discussion...it was for agenda seeking .... your view is right - others wrong. That's is plain and simple . Either way - BJean / Tommy / Snuffy can keep up with you plenty, your actually no longer enjoyable to read. But they more than have the pulse of the Avg person....Keep your values to your and your girls, that's where they belong, certainly not thrusted onto me. Reply away with more snarkyness....I'll not respond, cause deep down that IS what you want & I don't play that way w/my friends of the same opinion as yours in real life - I won't go there online. BJean -....your SO not passive aggressive, more like a breath of fresh air:)

    Salads

I have yet to have a single problem with salads or veggies since going to solids. One time I ate grilled asparagus too fast and thought I couldn't tolerate them - not true; they all go down fine, so long as I chew properly. Just this evening I had a wild rice/butter leaf salad w/shrimp....I would not be happy if I couldn't tolerate raw veggies & salads, they're a large part of my diet. You might have to play around to see what your able to handle... Good Luck w/your surgery:)!!

Oct 07 Bandsters - how are you doing?

Congrats Morningoasis on getting to Onederland!!! Love your attitude. I had my 6month check last wk - down 55lbs w/20 to go. So glad I made this choice. A year ago I was dreading the TX summer ahead and not wanting to be seen in a bathing suit. Today I laid out for a bit w/a new suit on and felt cute for the first time in a while..... Hope everyone continues to have success!!!

    Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)

there are a lot of texans~~ 80's - for the pizza craving your having, when you go to food here is a good choice: *my husband is also banded and a pizza junkie, he eats this wkly w/a salad*: Kashi Brand Mediterranean Pizza 1/3of the pizza is 220 calories / 15grams Protein / 9grams fat It's made on flax seed / 7 whole grain flat bread & is really tasty.... good alternative to the double stuffed cheese crust (my fav)...

    Fat people in movies

Phatt Girlz - Real Woman Have Curves - one of my favorite movies on the subject. I think to embrace a realistic body VS "fat humor" is more my taste. I always felt the "cringe" while watching Chris Farley / John Candy in their SNL / Second City skits...They always pushed the physcial comedy at their expense. Just left me sad.

    Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)

wisemom/kiddokat - i can't imagine what your going through (i didn't have a pre op diet) ... but i've read enough here to know it's a tough part of the process. hang it - keep coming here for support when foods on the brain, it helps. i hated EVERY Protein shake in the early post op stages, i bought just about everything on the market or what i read here via the internet. to date the one i still go to about a half dozen times a wk is the EAS Low Carb shakes. personally i like the chocolate / strawberry, they are 110 calories / 17 grams of protein / 3 grams of fat. the chocolate one is my new favorite - i feel like i'm having a cold glass of chocolate milk. remember - it's a short timeframe, then the real fun begins:)LOL
