actually if a DR has done something inappropriate, there is no better place than here, to post that information. many have voiced bad practice by office policy / medical concerns / band complications among many DR's...some find this forum their only recourse. as adults, one has to take these stories / their own research & make informed decisions regarding their health. i will say i AM curious - i'd love to know more of the story, but that would require the OP to disclose more. to be honest - i'm MORE than reluctant to post pics / divulge "medical" information on an internet site. it's not all-together smart in my opinion; and those that want to overly share run some level of risk.....

luluc replied to coltonwade's topic in Fitness & Exercise
yeah they are pretty high on the carb side (didn't mention that - sorry). i normally only eat half at a time for that reason, but i'm also increasing my calories - trying to get over 1200 a day & the banana seems to help. with working out 5 days a wk, i'm burning a lot of calories (average 700+ cal burned) & keeping my calories at around 900-1000 a day, didn't work for me. i was really lathergic / dizzy when with my trainer & the weight stalled some....so slowly i've been upping the count. hope your run/walk went well today!! -

hi huggie bear! do you stretch good before/after you walk or run? i have a tendency to have some shin pain when i do run & it always comes back to that i didn't stretch "After" a workout. another suggestion (came from my trainer) was to add more potassium to my diet & before each workout with him, i have a half of banana w/protein drink. then again - a GOOD soak in hot tub or bath does the trick to:) -

cheated on my Liquid Diet...Am I going to be ok for Surgery?
luluc replied to MollyTaMolly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not sure how much "trouble" you'll be in - many (including myself) were never put on a pre-op diet. So I say the odds are in your favor; continue w/the program your Dr set forth with you & good luck w/your surgery!! -
Isn't being overfilled & over restricted the same thing? I consider them the same & I prefer to be less restricted. I was able to go every 2 wks to be filled since surgery - but averaged every 3/4wks. My last fill was the end of March & don't see a need to have one anytime soon. I have an appt on May 21st; but I'll more than likely just use it as a "checkup".

i'm one of those cooks who don't measure / nor write stuff down; however this is what i do: 1 10oz tub of skim ricotta 1pckg of frozen spinach (completely thawed/drained well) 1/4c marinara sauce 1/4c pesto sauce 1/2c parmesan cheese mix all together, spread into olive oil"d pan top with another 1/3c of parmesan cheese. bake 350 till golden brown. there is a lot you can do to mix this up; my mum always served this as an antipasta appetizer w/lots of crusted bread / olives / pepercinis / pickled pepers / etc.

still around mindy - just turned a different corner w/working out; doing more weight training with a cardio mix up of running / spin / or elliptical. i start next wkend a over 40 mens' soccer team & signed up for a doubles tennis tourney that picks up in june. i realized i'm not a FT runner - i just get too bored & have always enjoyed team sports....hopefully a million squats have prepared me:) new thread or not; here to support.....this C5 program got my A&& motivated and in gear to get serious about exercise -- i am more than appreciative...... -
i think you have a fantastic attitude - all the best w/your surgery!!!

brandy - are you looking into a revision at the moment? i'm going to agree that the band is not a one size fit all, for WLS. i had coffee this morning after the gym with a neighbor & after talking for a bit (we became friends because our dogs are "lovers".. both FIXED now!!) she said she had the band put in 2yrs ago, and though she has gone from 364lbs to 184; gaining 55 back - she is looking to revise to RNY early this summer. She can no longer handle the fill/unfill drama that she's encountered over the last 9 months & she's found a way to eat around the band, which is apparently common. she was shocked i too had the band in & that it was working as she's has 6 other GF's that are having problems. i'm maybe a little "skeptic" - but i would be shocked if this band outlasts me. i'll be thrilled if it does w/no complications - but i'm not blind to the realities that "something" can & might go wrong. if that happens, i will have a backup plan (i like the sleeve option myself) to prevent any weight regain. good luck exploring all your options!!

I'm one of those - 75lbs needed off the body; but I'm also 5'1. At 200lbs, my body had been through the ringer - several miscarriages, inconsistent exercise & regular overindulging of food & drink. I knew I could diet & exercise to get the weight off, my body just did not bounce back like it did when i was 25 when i thought 127lbs was a high number. at 38 - my metabolism was not responding to heathly living w/out WLS, i sought out the band because i needed something to KEEP the weight gain from coming back. just needed a little push & i got it, thankfully. i was able to get the lapband at a BMI of 36 because that still put me in an obese category. Now my Ins wouldn't cover me - I paid cash for the lapband. I come to LBT because I have NO where else to go to talk about WLS. My husband had the band w/me, but he wants to keep this private - and I'm a talker; so my outlet is only here to talk about my issues/results & share w/others and their success. I'm not going to flame you one bit, I will say this - I wish I got the lapband when I hit 175lbs; I'm very respectful of those who have a low BMI to take hold of their issue sooner rather than later. I venture to bet most wish they took charge of their weight issues before they got out hand.
