i'm not sure how accurate that is, that someone can be sued for stating an opinion on a forum regarding a lapband Dr. everyday / every wk - there is a thread started about problems/complications/issues with staff about a Dr & his practice. i think it just goes with the territory. with that said, as someone in the DFW area, i've read MORE than one bad experience about Dr Maese on this forum. from port infections / unsanitary office conditions / trouble getting him to call back when a complication arises - these aren't my interpretations, just those who've written here, a search up top should yield those threads. i agree, go find another Dr (second opionion) to assess your problems.

I do keep a food journal - keeps me honest & I also provide it to my personal trainer for him to review; see what I'm eating -make recommendations. As the workouts increase in intensity, I've upped the calories & carbs - Seem to be working so far. I have a digital scale that I use about half the time. I used it religiously in the beginning, however I've been able to gauge the size/qty of my food by sight. I pull it out to "check" myself on more dense food, same w/my measure cups - which are more like my serving spoons nowadays. I don't keep an execise journal, I do workout @ 5days a wk - 2 with a trainer. I don't care for the "bodybugg" but my trainer will put one on me about once a month to get a grasp of how many calories I'm burning - which averages close to 800 calories a session. My "guess" is that on an average workout I am burning 600 calories or more. I don't feel the need to get specifics on calories burned each given day - just being active much more these days is enough for me.

sugrbear - your more than correct with this statement! i bought my memebership to the gym a year before my surgery, but didn't go until a month afterwards. i knew i wanted a trainer, having used one in the past & had great results - but that was a few yrs ago, and in the course of gaining weight, i also developed a form of RA. while walking on the treadmill i "watched" all the trainers in my gym to see which one i wanted. i watched how they worked with their clients - which ones did the SAME routine w/everyone, those who look like they were going thru the motions "just a job", until i eye'd my trainer. i had been watching him for 2+ months and was planning on signing up w/him when he approached me. he said he sees me daily, i "appear" commited and would i like a free assessment. well i knew i wanted to work with him, i told him my issues w/arthritis - can have hip/wrist/ankle pain at times & the results i was looking for. he modifies every workout to how i feel that day, mind you he does kick my A** - he just is really motivated to help me get the body i want. he's as invested as my band dr it seems at times, and i appreciate that. i think it's important to find someone who can listen to you & how your body is feeling - one that creates a program specifically for you...not the next client. good luck!! ps - fenton, great job!!!

i personally do not think the band is easy at all, and i was never an emotional eater, one who loved sweets, etc....i had a problem w/the fork. i loved good food and lots of it, putting down the utensils was my issues = portion control. my psych exam lasted 15mins; i was never asked questions regarding what types of foods i ate or when. i never had a nut appt, so nutrition was not necessarily discussed. i am however someone who was able to handle diet with willpower while waiting for restriction, because i never really had a hard time loosing weight & i like healthy foods - keeping it off was something else. i also enjoy working out. so the combination of regular diet along w/exercise didn't bother me one bit, i actually craved it & my body slowly responded. if you don't fit in that category, i think you could be set up for failure thinking the band is a one stop shop to fix your weight issue. i think false expectations by drs - or those who don't have an indepth prescreening process to explain all these ins/outs is a problem, along w/those who think getting the band requires no effort. it's a lot of effort even when your hitting all cylinders, doing everything by the book. this of course is my opinion.

POLL - Whats your sweet spot in 10cc band?
luluc replied to bunnykin4u's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i currently have 8.5cc/10cc band & have so for the last 2 months. i have an appt on tuesday and plan on asking for a slight unfill (1 - .5cc). over the last month i have progressively gotten tighter. i can no longer eat bread, my morning breakfast has been replaced most days with a protein shake, and hot meals have to be reheated more than once & can take close to an hr to eat. i just don't care to be this restricted & is sorta snuck up on me. don't mind chewing more & slowing down; i just like to eat my meals (vs drinking them) - don't want to eat soft food (which i've stayed clear from) & more importantly don't want to risk any damage to the band should i be too tight. -
i try to keep my calories around 1100 per day, not necessarily tracking carb/protein/fat breakdown. for me, i like to get a good balance of all 3 - when i limited my carbs (good ones of course), i had several periods of no weightloss. yesterday - b- SF chocolate shake w/ 1/2 banana l- 4 chicken potstikers - 1/4c broccoli slaw s- 1/4c trail mix d- 1 slice of thin pizza **took forever to eat**

you are correct - and my apologies; i have never known what it's like to be 200+ lbs overweight & therefore can't comment. when i opened this thread, it was from the new home page of "new posts" - had no idea what forum it was apart of. all the best in your weighloss journey~

i'm on a ranch but our surrounding farm house is landscaped in rock (austin stone the natural rock here). have too many labs that would naturally dig up ANY flower bed. the cheap way - KEEP the rock. go to tractor supply store (TX) and get weed killer and spray that on the weeds coming through 2 times - let 48hr go by before second dose. let it dry. then go get some "weed" prevention mesh (home depot has that) and lay down - then pile the rock back on. about once a month i take the weed spread and spray the rock no matter if i see a weed or not; no issues. moving rock is a PITA; but looks clean when no weeds are popping thru. for the back portion; readyset go had a great idea - you can also get a market umbrealla and some potted plants and make it a second outdoor sitting area - put up "tiki lanterns".... the dogs - well; might have to take them for a walk for their exercise - wear them out so the have no digging left in them:)
