actually, have ZERO desire to be a road warrior again, lived that life - got the stripes & sales is just not what i'd like to do in the future. ranch life is VERY relaxing; but not mind stimulating:tongue:. found a balance living the band life; now need to do the same in the home front....though hubby would love for me to continue to take care of EVERYTHING including him. midlife crisis??? or just trying to figure out what i want to be when i grow up??:wink2:

today - 2 mile run yoga class 30 min stairmaster ab routine

he HAS it made, me taking care of him....gave up my corp gig 3yrs ago to run the ranch we bought, and when i get out of dodge,...., he makes up for it & realizes all i do. i'm struggling w/going back to work or not - i'm in the not category; but wouldn't mind doing something PT....tech sales & travel just is NOT in the equation in the future..... training....very easy:tongue:

hi betrhnever - your question is interesting, but drinking w/my meals has never affected my hunger for the next meal, mind you i don't slam ounces of liquid w/a meal. it might be a few sips of water or wine w/ a meal or none....just depends. my surgeon suggests a more realistic life w/the band, and banning drinks w/meals is futile if your tracking your calories & exercising.....he seems to be in the minority. for me - i eat 3 meals a day w/1 snack....maybe 2 if i have a hard workout..again, not had adverse affects w/weightloss following this approach,

yesterday - b- 1/2c Fiber one Cereal w/2% milk and blueberries l- 1 beef empanada s- SF choc Jello pudding cup d- 2 coconut shrimp, glass chardonay

i have never followed this rule & have not had adverse side affects or lack of weightloss because..it also was not a "rule" of my surgeon. there have been several threads on this subject, and i still dont' buy into the NO drinking w/meal policy - when one is tracking their calories & working out. that's me, and how i have followed my progress w/my surgeon....the majority i read here, don't drink w/meals - and that's their directive...a candid conversation w/your surgeon and how you want to live a WLS life is probably a good thing.

how long afterwards are you hungry again? if that sustains you till your next meal; your probably just fine - if your wanting a snack and hr or 2 later, well you might want to re-evaluate. that meal probably wouldn't sustain me long enough, but i also prefer not to be too tight & try to enjoy a balance meal of meat/grains/veggies most of the time. i think one has to take their lifestyle w/the caloric intake and find a balance that works for weightloss & getting to the sweet spot, may not be the case. it wasn't for me; the more restricted my food intake was, the less the scale moved. good luck to you!!!

Only 90 pounds to lose...How long did it take you?
luluc replied to Shauna80's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
in about 10months, i've lost 75lbs. i'm 5'1 & my starting weight, day of surgery was 200lbs.....i think it's totally feasible to lose 90lbs in a yr or so & with you working out already 4/5 days a wk, that will only jumpstart the process. i will say, i doubt very likely i would have lost this weight w/out consistent exercise...i only lost 20lbs the first 3 months, and rather than get discouraged, i just up'd the workouts & became pretty obsessive about it and tracking/journaling my food. i have a few more lbs to go, but am enjoying myself more and more each day. -
what a powerful story , thank you for sharing. i don't know many persons "real time" that have had WLS (hubby & brother banded), a cousin w/RNY and my neighbor - RNY. my neighbor struggles EVERY day, not an exaggeration. she is 3yrs post op, went from 363 to 206 - and is a walking prescription pad. her skin is like paper, her hair is SO thin, she dumps daily - no matter what she eats. she's 45 & looks 65, EASILY. she wants to start walking in the evenings (pretty hot here in TX at the moment) in a month or two & is trying to play around w/vitamins to give her energy to walk even just a block. what's worse - she's only an inch or two taller than me (i'm 5'1), - she still has 50lbs + to lose & is now starting to Gain. she meets w/her surgeon next wk for possible revision - she wishes daily she never gotten the RNY, glad to have gotten 150lbs off...but it's come at a huge price.

How did you come up with a "goal weight" or have you?
luluc replied to Laurinda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
this is how i looked at things all along - i just worked to get out of the 190's, 180's & so on. my original goal is where i'm at now 125lbs, even though my Dr suggested 140 - i didn't believe i couldn't loose 100% of my excess weight. i dropped my "goal" to 117 when i hit 130, because being very short 5'1, i realized i could still stand to drop more & be in the middle of "normal" BMI (22.1) range. i would create a "starting point" goal - the closer you get to that you can always adjust, as your body changes. -

Banded 07/02...Waiting for my first fill... and HUNGRY!!!
luluc replied to Susie Girl 75's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
no lecture here, however you probably should start some habits that can help your success. i did not get restriction till 7 fills after 5 months - it may be less, or could be more & just because you can eat something, doesn't mean you should. start journaling your food, start an exercise program - there are many threads for both here on LBT. till you get your restriction to where your eating the correct amts for weightloss (1-2lbs per wk), you'll have to play around with your food & calories & get some will power in place. that's not to say forget pizza again - cause i could never do that; but just get a focused mind in place, rather than set yourself up for failure. good luck to you both~ -
eggs are not easy for me - outside of egg salad. i read this article, then i read it again. i'm just not easily sold on the fact that carbs are bad - granted white carbs are not readily in my diet. i'm not a big oatmeal person - but i do have to have good carbs in my diet to sustain the workouts i take part in. i think one has to look at their lifestyle & adjust their diet to that - and egg a day for me would take an hr to eat & be cold, thus egg salad works better for me.

serentity - when i run, i get cramps as well in my calfs; trainer suggestion - add a half banana or whole one (depending on how much you can eat) before you run. that along with stretching afterwards seems to do the trick. good luck to you!!!
