maybe go for a walk - do some exercise? i'm sorta giving in to my cravings as well lately - not really denying what i want, but in general i make pretty good food choices on a regular basis. exercise helps with that regard, i'm less likely to reach for snacks / high cal foods after having a good workout.

oh bozzj, i had to give my starbucks addiction up, along with the diet cokes.:sleep2::frown: i allow for a skinny latter here / there - but i purposely avoid that sinful place....cause i'd rather eat..LOL my husband is a late night snacker (he's also banded) - it's ALL habit & he has a "crunch" fascination.., don't get it. i just keep lots of baby carrots/cucumbers/nuts/cheese/etc for him to munch about - he just has to have a scoobie snack when the lights go out..:Banane37::tongue: just skip the tea & save those calories for night if that's when your looking for a little something/something.

frangi, your going for the FULL overhaul aren't ya?? i'm not so much a makeup person, i have naturally dark skin - in a hot climate most of the year, and most days its mascara/brow filler - bare essentials/and my cherry chapstick. i do get my eyelashes dyed - so not to have to wear masacara most days & just tried having my brows done. didn't look right - they came out "dark brown" and i have auburn hair. wasn't a good match, and i spent an evening scrubbing them out. i would LOVE to get my eyebrows done & have looked into eyelash extensions. i'll do just about anything not to have to put makeup on - so i'd love to see any results??

Need a recipe to cure my japanese craving

froggi - we're going to make you a cook here shortly, personally i got a wok for a wedding gift (crate&barrel) - not sure the price at walmart or target, but i'm sure you can get a quality one at either place for under 40$. might sound gross - but key to wok cooking is to initially seal it w/oil & heat. then never use soap to clean. i KNOW - how that sounds, but clean rag & more oil to keep it "lubricated" (love that word) is all it needs. i lived in france w/a chef for some impressionable years:eek: and he swore by oil & hot Water only on his wok...after much time together all i wanted was hot oil on "his wok" but that's another time ago..:whatchutalkingabout -
hey frangi - miami was lovely :whatchutalkingabout sorry to have missed you ...but i'm going to be back often in the future, we'll just have to hook up there or Vegas...LOL froggi - your upping the exercise...see i notice:redface: your going to be a great post op patient here shortly, you have the drive. sorta off tomorrow - doing a charity golf tournament that starts at 7am:eek::tt2::eek::wub: it's for the Dallas Police Dept ...(see ceradad - i play...so i get them friendly waivers:biggrin:) in a foursome w/2 hockey players & a cop, he and i will SO be friends by the end of the day or i'll not be asked to play again:tongue:

brandy - you KNOW me; i don't entertain or engage in "MY WLS" crap is better than yours. to each it's own - but i did/do have a valid story to add to this thread & i don't typically over indulge in pissing contests. i am NO cheerleader - my expectations of the band are mine & if they fail - well; on to the next chapter. lets not stereotype those with valid stories on the subject.
-
ostrich jerky - i get it thru my trainer and it's much easier to eat than beef jerky. one stick is 60 calories & 17 grams of Protein..., i typically get this after a really hard workout.

Need a recipe to cure my japanese craving
luluc replied to becky42's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
some call it saba, some soba - it's a buckwheat noodle that i get at whole foods market. a little goes a LONG way & if you go to whole foods web page they have LOTS of good recps. -
wow really? i thought slimmy you were my husband if i didn't know better & that he finally came onto this site (he's also banded), cause he is a NUT junkie. i have to keep all kinds in the house: jalepeno almonds/walnuts/wasabi peas - the list goes ON. think he traded his chip fettish for nuts. as far as fruit goes - can't get enough of it.

Tricare denied revision

what would your surgeon charge you to self pay? i realize that may not be feasible & your ins SHOULD pay - was just curious as to how much your dr will help your situation... -
i don't think there is anyway to know for sure if it "will" or "will not" happen. for me, i went from a 38DD to a 32D - which is fine for me & the hubby:wink_smile:

oh i over did it w/sushi @lunch today - but it had been a while. i like to do a stir fry (typically pork) with fresh veggies (pepers/bean sprouts/shitak mushrooms/green onions & fresh ginger) and love to use the kikoman brand of black bean sauce. it's thick *brown* and quite tasty, no need for much of any other flavors. i use my wok, and rather than rice i use saba noodles for the hubby - the sprouts are quite filling like noodles for me. -
Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
luluc replied to Froggi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
a BMI of 30 IS obese & i've really yet to read anyone here (and there may be some) that have been banded below that - but so what? 28/29 is just around the corner from obesity and if insurance wont' cover - why shouldn't someone who is able to self pay not do so? more than one person here has mentioned putting on ankle weights for weigh in's to be over a 40 BMI - so insurance will pay. is that not fair too? quite frankly whoever can get this paid for the more power to them....irregardless of the BMI. what strain is the low BMI self payers on the Insurance companies? they certainly don't set parameters for coverage because the potential for abuse, they are in business, and as such - to keep from "paying" affects their bottom line - in a GOOD way. i've read more individuals declined for the band w/a BMI in the 40 range, more so than in the 30's. many w/bmi of 45+ that have to do a six month diet....that's just plain cruel. the insurance companies here in the US are off the mark as how to handle WLS & be proactive in ones health. it's all money to them, period. i have decent ins - but to have gone through my insurance hoops & appeals, i'd still be waiting for a band to this day. at a BMI of 35, i was done waiting & done being obese....i took control of my health because no one else would. -
post-op workout problems
luluc replied to bigpapa2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i can appreciate this, i have some college sports injuries that may have contributed to the spinal arthritis i now have or just a family trait (mom has RA). regardless, the weight was an issue on my joints....i started walking the day of surgery and never stopped. 2 months after being banded i joined a gym, and added the elliptical to the walking (less impact), shortly after that i got a trainer and re-engaged with weight training. i didn't lose a bunch at that point (25lbs or so), but it was some relief and made it easier to add more exercise as i went along. don't get me wrong - there are days that my back or hip hurts, and i just take it a bit easier that day. start slow & go from there, i actually feel worse on days i'm not so active - so the exercise i know has helped...good luck to you!! -
happen to agree, you probably aren't eating that much. i'm a shorty (5'1) and i won't lose if i go below 1100 calories per day - but that's also not to say that the closer to goal ... the SLOWER the weight seems to be coming off. i also eat more balanced, including carbs - rather than focus on the Protein component each day.., i probably avg 50-60 grms most days. **a thought** - change up your diet & exercise to shock the body some?? maybe it's gotten use to the same old same old & a new routine might be the trick? worth a shot...

i would love my bod to look like the woman volleyball players. such athletes!!! i prefer the winter olympics - but enjoy watching whatever happens to be on, i'm a sports junky at heart.
-
i didn't have a pre-op diet, so yeah the day of surgery i weighed the most i ever did in my entire life. hopefully your surgeon realizes the need for the surgery considering your gain & not use it against you. let us know how it works out.!!.
