  1. i still check myself. i don't weigh every day; now knowing what 4oz is vs 2, 3 or 6. my serving spoons are my measuring cups - 1.4c/1.2c/1.3c...so forth. hard to guess when dinning out - but you "know" after a period of time what a meal should consists of; salad plate your best marker to gauge by. when i feel i'm eating too much - i break out my scale & measuring cups to check myself, not a bad habit to form.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

run, then a shuffle jog - no walk.....SOAKING wet, :w00t: bonnie - don't panic, you know w/your history you have to be diligent. my mom had BC and so did 2 of her sisters (she has 5) - all survivors. every yr since i was 25 i've had a mamogram on my bday (or close to), followed up with a sonogram, because i have dense boobs. the mamogram does pick up odd readings, however a sonogram will let you know what the abnormalities exactly are. when i have my mamogram, they do the test; make me wait while they read on the spot - sometimes order more; and everytime i'm walked to the next rm to have a sonogram. thankfully its the same reading - the mamogram produces "suspect" issues & the sonogram confirms the tissues are dense & we'll see you next yr. praying it all works out for you!!
  6. thanks jody for the update......
  7. wow - so that's his practice's policy? only to provide the lapband to those MO or those w/Comorbids? you think maybe you've had somewhat a bias to those getting this done before that range, though still obese because of your surgeons requirements? i say this with no hostility, i know froggi personally your committed to the band, and being successful.....but to delay to MO or worse - comorbids is rather harsh.
  8. froggi you are absoultely right - i have no frame of reference of those in the higher BMI range. being 5'2 and 198lbs as joy states, puts her BMI at 35.2. that's obese. your surgeon would ask her to leave? i just have such issues all around with parameters put on Age or Weight and who deserves surgery. i gotta tell ya, if i could have had the band placed in my 20's to PREVENT weight gain - more so than weight loss ; i would have paid the coin to do so, like i did when i DID get the band and insurance thought i needed to diet. i read the previous posts about young adults/teenagers getting banded; i think the parents of these youngsters are best equipped to decided their childrens mental health to handle WLS. i must say the mental anguish of being the "fat" kid must certainly far outweigh learning to deal w/the tool...MO only,
  9. my surgery was at 10, hubby's at 11:30 - same day. our surgeon says we're still his only patients to have limo service for lapband - but since DH was a big baby and his pain MUCH worse than mine of course - i would have enjoyed my pain meds & a private room, rather than be restless listening to his moaning...:w00t:

    wedding songs

as i prepare for the baby in my family (my brother's) upcoming wedding - i am doing the music...cause i just dont' go to many places w/out my ipod. he is having a civil ceremony & then 6 couples are chartering / sailing through the BVI's. i am trying to download as much as possible as we'll have a IPod converter to play music to. thought i'd hit this eclectic group for your favorite wedding songs **ps - not the overly sappy type** this is a fun sailing trip & i NEED many more songs to add for a 12 day sail trip.....appreciate the feedback: ps - my wedding song was Santana's Love of My Life (he still is..:whatchutalkingabout)

growing up my moms favorite sandwhiche was white wonder bread w/mayo & vidallia onion. and she would dip her chips in the mayo, cause it would be coming out the sides...and she was 90lbs wet!! UGH ruined me, never eat mayo. re - outback fries, weren't they ranked the highest calorie/fat restaurant food?? something like 1800 calories for the plate??

omg - i thought i was the only person that did this; since DH makes me feel as such. i use to also dip my shells & cheese into ketchup - but those were pre band days...it "almost" sounds good:rolleyes: french fries - dip in ranch. gravy - is "tomato sauce" (grew up in NY - italian g'ma called it nothing but gravy) the white gravy - not so much a fan, DH counts it as a food group tho.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

hey kathy, so yeah i was having trouble running more than 20mins & my trainer has me twice a wk running intervals outside (TX heat) to get me ready for the 5k in Oct. i run 5mins / light jog (like there's such a thing..LOL) 1min, and repeat for 30mins. i'm finding this is making it a LOT easier to run on the treadmill for longer periods of time....saturday was a fluke i think:biggrin: today was a "trainer" day so 30min run - 30min upper body weight training. whosya - that tri looks doable (did i say that??), might have to see how the first 5k goes first. lyn hope your paw feels better:smile:
  22. yesterday - b- 5oz vanilla greek yogurt w/handful of granola l- spicey tuna roll (4pcs) & spring roll s- 3tbsp hummus w/ baby carrots d- 2oz deli turkey on slice WW toast w/tomato s- ff choc pudding cup

me too....UGH, but it was my calves hurting. i ran 45mins sat: 25min run / 5min walk / 20min run & was completely energized to run 30mins straight this am. didn't happen. got in 10min run & 10min walk, then hopped on the bike and did 30min interval - running just wasn't in the cards today - happens, treadmill's ALWAYS there the next day:tongue: renewed - glad your mom will be w/you, thinking of ya!! kathy - great job on 20mins; no matter HOW it breaks down....it's 20min georgia girl - i have to workout in the AM, otherwise it doesn't happen for me - but i know i need carbs for that workout or i peeter out.
