    HELP - I'm getting complacent!

i think it's easy to be complacent at a certain point in weightloss. when your loss is commented by others and you feel/look better, it's easy to slip and "allow" yourself indulgences. i'd like to lose another 8/10lbs, and get many comments that i "should" be done...but i know that 8/10lbs will put me on the lower to middle BMI range, so it's not a stretch wanting that. i took the goal number off my tag line last month, so not to focus on that number, just concentrate on my fitness. i do enjoy working out, so that's not an issue for me. i'm finding i have to have balance in this process, food & fitness have to go hand & hand for me.... not sure i gave any advised, just understand where your coming from.

    Eating Cold Cereal

always with milk & equal amts of cereal to milk ratio.
  5. yesterday - b- banana screame protein drink l- 3/4 subway tuna wrap s- handful of walnuts d- 2oz meatloaf w/ 1/2c roasted sugar snap peas
  6. a staunch democrat would want to preserve certain social rights. if your scared of Obama - i get it; lots of my staunch conservative friends & family are scared of Palin....makes perfect sense. the reason we don't have an independent candidate is $$$$$. who can stay in the race the longest wins - unfortunately at times. it takes a LOT to run a campaign & not always the best is selected - but the one with the largest stack of chips.
  7. i have spinal arthritis (ankylosing spondylitis), had it pre-band....and weight made it MUCH worse. there aren't many days that i'm working out that i don't have "some pain"....but getting active helped my weight loss, thus taking the pressure off the lower back & hips (majority of pain for me). i started walking day 1, moved to elliptical & other less impacting exercises. today - i'm working out pretty hard, running & weight training....i find that if i'm "not" active - my hips are sore & my back lets me know i have AS. you might just have to play around with what activity provides the best results w/the least pain....not sure it' will ever go away; but taking the LBS off will sure help!!

    Forgotten birthday

i appreciate this post!! hubby and i are not crazed about bdays/anniversary, i'm not expecting a card - because that's not how he is. he surprises me all throughout the year w/unexpected gifts or joys...i'm not hung up in the "hallmark" of life. it's been a running joke the last few wks that at 40 - i want something BIG....knowing him, i'll get it wk before or wk after.....cause he just does things on "his" time - he's also not a fan of hallmark.... if your husband is not thoughtful throughout the year, expecting it around your bday might be stretch. i've found having expectations that are not shared or communicated leave one of the parties in a relationship with hurt feelings.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

VERY unusual, this time of yr - feel like I'm in San Francisco. Sunny / Breezy / low 80's / Zero Humidity...... that still may sound hot to some, but it is Fall weather here...LOL
  10. with zero similar interests / beliefs - i too believe she did more than well! her delivery & confidence was spot on; again - not swayed to her side of the aisle. sometimes experience (and how does one really quantify that?) doesn't provide the best eyes in governing. same old same old - is just that, and many not satisfied with it continuing. ps - LOVE snopes

    Questions on exercise:

YES, i'm a prancer my trainer tells me. i land on my toes, and lately my toe nails have been splitting/cracking. only started when i picked running backup this summer - so dont think it's diet as my Dr suggested. i'm practicing to "land correctly" ... my trainer actually ran side by side w/me this AM to "bark" at me to get off my toes.....:crying:

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

lyn you crack me up!!! HEELS FIRST! have to tell you, i have all you ladies in my head while running. today outside w/my trainer, i was: thinking of renewed & the rocky music kathy saying nice things and not wanting to give up and i just SO wanted to this AM wondering if leslie got out running breathing properly and planting w/my heel....OH MY all this makes for a crazy lady who ALREADY has ADD!!!...LOL:tongue::crying: anyway did run for 20mins in addition to 40minute weight training before hand. planting the heel first is going to take some work - didn't realize ALL the weight is forward; and i really believe that's the issue w/my toes splitting. poor nails don't have a chance w/my thighs coming down on them:eek: enjoy your trip renewed....think i'm taking tomorrow off, since DH decided to take the day off. might play some golf....take care all!! & hello to all newly joined C5k'ers....
  15. LOL - it's a thick sweet/smokey sticky flavored asian sauce. you can find in any asian isle of the grocery store. it binds the mixture really well.

    Questions on exercise:

it could be as easy as having your shoelaces too tight. i experienced that early on, that and getting a good pair of running shoes to fit seemed to fix it!!
  18. i actually make them: brown ground chicken or turkey; then add shredded cabbage & green onion with hoison & lite soy sauce. i take a tablespoon mixture and wrap them in wonton wrappers & steam them. i make a bunch at once & freeze, taking out when i'm craving them...and i eat them often. once thawed i pan sear them in sesame oil & use a spicey tai sauce for dipping. they're similar to "dumplings".
  19. yesterday - b- banana scream protein drink l- chicken potstickers *5* d- 1/3c shrimp fried rice - lots of veggies s- 90cal specialK snack bites-chocolate

    Tasty recipe for beans??

i make lentils a bunch - freeze in small contatiners. i soak them; cook in low sodium chicken stock with carrots/onions/celery/can rotelle & cubed ham. i'll add a 1/2cup of brown rice at the end to thicken things up....make it heartier.
  21. noahsmom, i think you'll do best by not comparing your journey with someone else's. it's hard to do, i know that - i was banded the same day as my husband & he got to goal under 6 months. by month 4 i hadn't even lost 30lbs, and he was just about done. he didn't workout - like i did, he still ate crappy food - i didn't. i found coming to this site helped A LOT. leslie makes a good point - journal your food; i still do this everyday. i may not like what's logged, but i can only get a good grasp of my calories by doing so. it took me 7 fills for proper restriction (was able to go every 2wks) - just try to do better on food choices while waiting. exercise, throw the baby in a stroller and hit the street. start small, and increase your days & duration....you'll feel so much better moving; and it really does contribute to the loss column. good luck to ya,

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

georgia - all the best in your move; that's plenty of exercise in & of itself. leslie - you've been kicked...get back out and start; as much as i still struggle with learning to love to run; it is a good stress relief & the legs aren't looking like tree trunks any longer:biggrin: good luck renewed on the 5k this wkend....starting to get nervous of mine in exactly a month:eek: hope your run went well kathy!!! low carbing' - SO hard to do; especially when working out hard. if i don't have them; i can't put the effort in the crazy workouts my trainer has me doing....be hard to give up fruit as well. so i think my toe nail issues is due to the fact that i "twinkle toe run". i asked my trainer today to watch me while i was on the treadmill how i ran - and he said i land on my toes every time. might be why they're splitting. now my breathing is under control i guess i have to pay attention to landing properly....too much to think about..LOL today : walk 5min / run 20min / walk 10min / run 20min bike - alpine pass interval training level 9 - 30min

Stalled at Day 8 and FRUSTRATED

i keep hearing that it becomes an addiction...right now its a chore, but i do it because it more than helped the weightloss & my legs are looking great doing so. i train twice a wk w/my trainer; half that time is 30min running intervals outside. another 2 days, i run on my own with weight training. i try to get to the gym 5/6 days a wk. in the meantime, once a wk weigh in is probably a good thing.....

Stalled at Day 8 and FRUSTRATED

very good feedback.!. also, get a tape measure & start taking your measurements. sometimes when the scale wont move, it's nice to see the inches fall - which WILL happen.
