luluc replied to just1more's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have a cup or 2 of coffee every AM - if not it's ice tea (not the sweet kind..LOL). both were on my post op liquid diet......i gave up my diet coke & diet mt dew..., if i couldn't have some caffeine - i might hurt someone:tongue: -
very, very sorry for your loss libra.
-

wow - it IS quiet this wkend, hope everyone is having a good one. kathy congrats on the 4lbs - that is fantastic. i too have dragged the scale out, and i wish i hadn't.,, floating between 127-128 for 3wks now & wondering if it's the weight training - which has picked up.... the clothes are actually fitting better - got a pair of size 4 shorts yesterday & though not perfectly comfortable...they went on pretty smoothly. onto running - took off friday, so yesterday i got in a 4 mile run; broken down by 2mile interval w/a 15min walk in between. today is hubby's bday, got an early run in - 1.5mile & getting ready for a bunch of company...first day of football & the cowboy game is on tap.... take care, lulu

nope - doesn't sound cheesy, i feel the same way. my port does stick out & is noticeable (if i point it out - some don't see it right away). mine is located about 4 inches below the left breast & i'll take it popping out 10 times over being 75lbs overweight. i've nicknamed mine "trudy" (for protruding...LOL) - i had a 2pcs bathing suit on all summer, and even tho it's somewhat odd to feel it & somewhat see it - it really is of no bother.

rebrph- i will add a protein drink on days i work out w/my trainer, which adds an additional 24grams per day, otherwise - i try to eat balanced meals, including carbs/fruits/veggies & protein each day. each dr will give out different advise on protein intake, mine suggested that if i can get in around 45-55g per day - and he prefers to do that w/food, rather than drinks....i should be fine. good luck to ya!

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?

sex education is not a "hot topic" of mine; i have no children, nor will ...but i remember my sex ed class in 6th grade & my mom had to attend. mom, followed up because she had an "early" developed young girl (me). it's unfortunate that Parents don't have conversations w/their kids about this...but i'm not sold on the fact that it's a teachers job. that said gadget, i did call my ISD. WHAT a run around. you would have though i was the IRS calling to get a copy of their balance sheet. i was passed around to 6 persons & when one actually would talk to me; she stated non parents could not sit in on a class. i'm in a suburb outside DFW. i said that was unfortunate, and left it there. listen, if your values are those of Palin - you like her, will root for her. likewise w/obama. the personal side of their life is an accent to them...doesn't define their abilities. if we went to the CEO's of the fortune 500 companies...we'd be crushed by what would fall from their cloests.. -
go to the insurance/financing forum and do a search for TriCare. i've read a bunch that are military family (tricare started covering the lapband i believe in jan) there who have been successful in getting coverage. taking care of your obesity (and over 30 IS obese) earlier rather than later is a good thing...... all the best,

your's was the VERY first story i ran into coming to site. i loved following you and a few others & their journey - it certainly pushed me to do the same, and for that i say thanks,!!! cause i "heart" my band!!
-
funny you say that; i found "oikos" brand of greek yogurt (5oz cups) yesterday that already have honey (120calories/13g protein). i had some this AM w/some bare naked granola.....very yummy!!
-
not ewww...i do the same as well; i very rarely eat yogurt w/out some granola or crunch going on.

also in DFW.....sorta at goal, like to lose a bit more but concentrating on staying fit & healthy. karen, i work out at 24hr as well - have since getting banded & love my trainer (well most days)....i really am a believer that exercise helps this process move a bit faster & assists in making better food choices!!! good luck to all newly banded folks...., -
they're silly cause i'm better than them & it interrupts their male bonding....lol hubby doesn't get much "boy" time with his friends, due to his buz travel - so i can't complain....been reading a bunch HERE,, and there's lots of interesting stories....

i'm in - was wondering if a sept challenge would happen. for me...training for a 5k, ugh still trying to love running...if i tell myself IT WILL happen. run 4 times a wk twice wkly sessions w/trainer weight training 3 days a wk good luck all!!!
-
i eat all fruits & veggies, with no problems either. like aubrie, i tend to stay away from the starchy ones mostly - but not completely. i do love a baked sweet potato here/there. banans/edamame/cabbage/grapes - part of the wkly diet, plus more. i'd have a problem w/a "diet" that didn't allow for these food groups in the mix...they're important!

ok that just made me spit my tea laughing!!!! i prefer the boy cut panties myself, in fact went to VS last wk w/my friend (first time there since being banded) & thought i'll treat myself to some cute panties/tanks. i buy a large bottoms, thinking i'm STILL a lg, come on put on for hubby, and he's like they're TOO big. said it looked like i had a diaper on. here i was thinking i was sexy...LOL:tongue:

i think quality of life is a big deal, at least to me. and with that, i had a candid talk w/my dr before banding about my eating habits and how was i going to change for the better, that included me not giving up my glass of wine here or there. he was fine w/that; i was not one to live on junk food - my problem was with the fork, and not knowing when to put it down, volume eater. i've had 2 unfills because i couldn't get whole grain bread / chicken / some veggies down. they are part of my "diet" and to be so stuck, i can't enjoy the foods i like - i rather my weight loss take extra time, eat hot meals "hot". as the weight dropped off, and i picked up my exercise - i'm more inclined to make better food choices / my body craves them. that's not to say, that a good bottle of wine @ diner & a bite creme brule' doesn't happen...that's not living.., for me:tongue:
-
also a self pay patient of dr felts. very happy w/staff, dr & results!!

go to a seminar. i think that's the best starting point & you can get many of your questions/concerns addressed. then call your insurance - find out if they cover WLS, get the exact requirements if they do. every policy is different, some cover those with a low BMI w/comorbids, some make you go on a 6 month diet...get those specifics up front. i would get the lapband if i were you. your at the age where you know that diets have not worked for you & if they have, maybe the weight came back. the lapband will help for both, loss & the ease of mind of no regain. my BMI was low enough that my insurance did not cover - i went self pay & haven't regretted it for a moment. good luck to you!!
