  1. ok - my husband is also banded & WOULD love this. i had an old recp (back in the day) where i would take an english muffin - put in the blender to break down and do a mixture similar - but this is much ban friendlier....thanks for posting
  2. but you have to go back to solid food at some point right? sorta like those who had to go on a pre-op diet (i didn't have one), the moment they're introduced to solid food after their post op program...you see them typing here mad that they're gaining weight. well of course they are. i just don't think the band is meant for us to drink our meals - my dr is also not fond of getting your calories from drinks (unless obviously after a fill or not feeling so hot). i view "cleanse" as a healthy diet - not to be gross but i've had the healthiest stomach in my adult life after adapting to a proper diet since being banded.....my 2 cents.
  3. i think BOTH sides have made the "pig - lipstick" comment. these poor farm animals are taking such heat & pit bulls too....LOL i've heard that come out of mccains mouth as well as obamas - it's really just stupid on both ends & no one should apologize. it's a campaign; taking barbs against each other is what they do. i don't appreciate dragging kid dramas into the picture, but record debating - calling one another out is perfect politics, that i have no issue with. but the poor pigs......i think they look cute just as is; w/out lipstick.:rolleyes2:

    Toe dipper

i probably would have gotten the sleeve if i had to do it over again. i'm in no way upset with the results, no complications to date, however being realistic - i'm not sure this band will last me a lifetime. just a gut instinct & that's a concern - as is the weight gain. i "think" i've learned what it takes to be successful, should i happen to lose my band - but ultimately would be devistated if the weight came back. i've read a lot about the sleeve "after the fact", and that and the lapband would be the only WLS i would consider. good luck to you.!.

oh leslie - the motivation for running is not always there; and there is no failure involved by taking a siesta:tongue:. i must say coming here often gives me the encouragement on days that it's just not what i want to do... i think taking it outside is a good thing - helps me a bunch... looking forward for the other ladies to pop back in...lyn has been seriously entertaining!! kathy you look great - i need to get some photos up / just have camera poison ivy......get the ichy w/hives when hubby pulls it out..:rolleyes2:

    September exercise challenge?

my trainer has me doing the most obscure ab exercises * iso abs - on a matt, in a push up position but fore arms flat on the matt, toes on an exercise ball - hold for 20sec rep of 4 * crunches - same push up position - toes on the ball, pull your knees into your tummy. 10 reps 4x * on the exercise ball , holding 10lb ball lift up reaching the sky - 20reps 4x.....so much more , it becomes a blurr - so i just type "ab routine"...LOL good luck w/the sleep study!!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

hey renewed - i can't do low carb for just that reason, ZAPPED. no energy or very lightheaded after a workout/run. i don't go crazy w/carbs - but sure do include the complex ones from fruits/veggies/brown rice/whole grain toast/etc. each day. my trainer in fact today told me i need to up my "grains" since we just changed up my routine - which is going to include more weight training. so we'll see, the scale hasn't seen 125 in a few wks, this AM it was 126.5 - but i can really tell the weight training has been changing the definition of the body. jbrad - i run inside and out. in North TX, it's pretty sticky right now - so when i do run on the treadmill....it is that much easier. if not mistaken, i did double of wks 4 & 5...repeating is not a bad thing...just listen to the bod. aclubb - agree, don't pay attention to distance just yet. it will come. for the workout - yesterday - yoga class, wasn't up for running in the rain:tongue: today - hr training session; hard to explain but 4 sets of 4 routines - double time of reps of 30. lots of core/ab - hamstring/squat - shoulder/bicep/tricep exercises & weights..... have a good day all~
  10. yesterday - b- slice WW toast w/tsp peanut butter l- half cucumber w/1/4c hummus, bite of feta cheese s- veggie spring roll d- 1c red beans & rice s- FF choc pudding cup
  11. it took me a LONG time to find a Protein drink that i like. i don't treat my drink as a Meal Replacement, rather a preworkout "boost". champion pure whey banana scream - 1scoop (130cal / 23g protein) 8oz skim milk half banana approx 6 frozen mango or pinapple chunks (act as ice cubes too) blend - tastes like a smoothie....Love it!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

my warren buffett thinking husband has transformed my ways of "i need new shoes now".....save a 1/3, invest 1/3...spend a 1/3. it was very hard during commission time of the month - but it helped me retire before 40...so i say take a bit of a splurge, and bank the rest.
  14. i didn't tell anyone (hubby banded w/me) till after several months & still only my parents and brothers know. i didn't want any watchful eye, or negative comments & my husband is very private. and boy and am i glad i bit my tongue (and i'm a chit chatty type) because i was SLOW out of the gate. i had to concentrate on a diet & exercise program, and i can get easily distracted by ugly comments so - i really in the beginning just got obnoxiously focused. because the weightloss has come in the steady 1/2lb per wk - telling those who wonder what i did .. saying diet & exercise is Not a lie. if you want to be private, it's completely doable!!! if ya want to shout it out - go ahead, knowing there will be the food police and watching of every move/meal... it's just a personal choice on which you do!!
  15. butter, in moderation miracle whip - when making tuna/egg salad really good extra virgin olive oil in just about every meal...LOL. i also like to use chili or sesame oil when making stir fry dishes. sweetner - learning to go w/out, will use splenda on occassion with tea
  16. 1cup skim ricotta 2 eggs - separated 1/4c frozen chopped spinach - thawed / drained / dried 1tsp lemon zest 1tsp dried basil 1/3c finely grated parmesan or romano cheese salt / peper to tast i olive oil 4 cupcake tins - then combine all the ingredients except the egg whites. after whipping the egg whites, fold them in and equally disperse into the cupcake trays. cook @ 350 degrees for about 20mins till golden brown. 1 cupcake size is MORE than enough - but very satisfying. my mom made this many different ways growing up...you can play with the ingredients., she likes to use roasted eggplant a bunch in her mixture - but again, there can be so many variations....

    Slider Foods oh NO

.1 can make a big difference. i've had 2 unfills because i couldn't get down solid proteins & some complex carbs and must say that when all i can get down were slider foods - my weight stalled or i gained a few, due to the sodium in all the soups. after 11months i'm at the right place, can eat what i want - just small amts....it just took 9 fills & 2 unfills....LOL i'd like to lose a bit more - but we'll just see how things go. hope you find that spot!!!

    Greek Yogurt???

kat, i buy the oikos honey greek yogurt 5oz cups (usually throw in some granola for crunch) - but here's the breakdown: 5oz - 120calories - 13g protein compared to danon light - peach (in my fridge also): 3oz - 110calories - 2g protein i like the taste & it keeps me full longer than regular yogurt...
  21. i would be hungry too if i relied on Protein drinks for meals. i use them as a snack before a workout, otherwise my dr is a big fan of getting your calories from solid meals. high in protein with complex carbs/fruits & veggies. let your dr know your frustration, you shouldn't be unhappy & you can eat meals and lose weight.... good luck my5dollys tomorrow!!!

    September exercise challenge?

not really - i get very red/purple faced when doing a hard workout, and i sweat...i sweat a LOT, especially running outside (TX heat). it would be hard to go back to work w/out proper shower & such on hard workout days..
  23. these were 2 of my staples, along with cottage cheese / yogurt / LOTS of egg drop Soup / tuna-egg salad / ricotta bake. mushie stage was heavenly after the liquid stage!!!
  24. the afternoon before surgery - final preop appt, i was exactly 200lbs, the following AM i was 195. my surgeon warned me that my weightloss might be slow and to not get discouraged. he was right, very slow start - but then i guess the exercise started to pay off, along with revamping my diet ....things just excellerated. you should do fine - set realistic expectations; don't compare yourself to others & you will do great!
