Protein Shake Suggestions....
luluc replied to allymb22282's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
champion nutrition pure whey banana scream = 1 scoop, 130 cal / 23g Protein i mix w/skim milk / half banana / mango or pinapple chunks - make a smoothie -
caffieine can act as an appetite stimulant in some - so that could be the problem; maybe try protein waters/decaf?? i'm not sure what optisource is (protein drink?) - but hang in there. not sure your stages of food progression - but you need to allow for healing to take place, hydrate yourself, and take it one day at a time.

i HATED protein drinks (ALL of them) & lost 75lbs w/out them (occasional drink after fills only)....however i just recently found one to add to my diet to add extra protein on days i work out with my trainer. i don't use it as a meal replacement; just an added boost of protein/nutrition. my dr isn't a fan of liquid calories for your meals - but he doesn't seem to mind me adding them into the diet as of late.

there was NO sitting - only at halftime, maybe. as a season ticket holder, and spending every other wkend at TX stadium - including the last 7 thanksgivings.... it was just electric last night. and the game was off the hook! we got there aroun 4'ish to tailgate & the parking lot was already packed - hubby wasn't the only guy around who took the day off:wink: so quickly a few interesting NSV's about this football game. *as hubby and i gained weight - sitting in the stadium was "VERY close". more like spilling into each others seat. last night - i was (during commercial break) able to sit indian style in my seat - not touch anyone! *tailgating is ALWAYS so much food, nice to take A bite of everything w/out gorging - still ate high cal food, but ... eat better today??? LOL *shiner (That's TX beer Ceradad) - only takes 3 and i'm a cheap date.. back to being good today - bring on GB is right!

this sounds GREAT! i love a frozen cappuccino & have some chocolate whey that i don't care for on its own.....as i'm off to make a pot of coffee:wink: -
that is AWESOME kathy!!! really, great accomplishment - wish this post could have bells & whistles attached, consider them coming your way virtually!!! lulu

counseling for yourself, would be a great start. till you get a really healthy body image & self appreciation - every other relationship will be marred with the words of your ex. katiebug, i suggest the same. if you can't let go of the anger - it will own you, no matter how much you lose. this thread just made me appreciate my husband that much more. i too was 125 on my wedding day - and got up to 200 w/out a single word, unkind action by him. i was disgusted, humiliated & miserable - but he never showed anything but love - guess he deserves a big hug tonite!!
-
glouc - so glad you made it through IKE ... fence can be replaced!!! when do the expect power back on? i've heard it can be up till the end of the wk before most can expect that - i can just imagine the inconvience. cowboy game - crazy ceradad & i should have stayed home from the gym, because my training session was pretty sorry. very lackluster, gave my trainer a hard time w/EVERY exercise....but i did go & got some calories burned...- more like sweating all the bad i did yesterday out is all!!!
-
in catch up mode readig all the posts from this AM..., georgia - congrats on the 12 min run!!! i think it's great you had it in your mind to do 8 - then pushed through to 12....still think our minds can talk ourselves IN to doing this 5k or OUT of it just as easy.... kinda just depends where your head is each day. goes hand in hand w/leslie & renewed's all or nothing thoughts. coming here & getting motivation on days i want to veg out, seriously helps. renewed , need to check out your PS thread; how exciting for ya!! kathy - fingers crossed on the interview!!

i think hosting is a MUCH better option for you for many of the reasons given, most importantly - you can have food prepared that you can eat. you can also have "busy feet" being the host so nobody is focusing on what your eating - certainly those who you decide not to share the fact that you will be getting the lapband. my inlaws STILL don't know my husband i got banded, and don't need to quite honestly...no shame, just none of their business. i was 5wks post op last thanksgiving, and though we spend that day tailgating at the Cowboy game, i made sure hubby and i had food we could get down. A big pot of chili went a LONG way - turkey was just not something that appealed at that time. with mom helping - you can enjoy your first holiday meal w/family & the start of new traditions!!!

NBC a lot....starts tonight all, get your TIVO's set..,

yesterday - b- 5.3oz blueberry greek yogurt w/handful of granola l- salmon cake & 1/2c field greens **rest of the day, not so hot - cowboy tailgate & game** picked on a bunch of things, none low cal - food & drink:rolleyes:

leslie, kathy gave almost the same advise i was going to but i'll take it a step further. be SELFISH, 30-40mins a day is not too much of your family to allow for yourself...for your better health - mentally & physically. i'm just an overrall nicer person if i can "work out" my issues - clears my head. thanks renewed & georgia girl.....i did reward myself with a running outfit for my Oct 4th 5k. PINK - i'm so not a pink colored girl, but i bought a pink & black addidas shorts/tank/jacket. DH laughed that it was a sporting event not a fashion show, and i'm not that type either but i wanted something cute - period. took it a bit easy today - ran 20min / walk 10min / elliptical 30min..shins hurt a tad from running outside yesterday... hope everyone is having a good monday!!
-
oh my goodness, it IS a national holiday here in Dallas, TX !!!! certainly w/the spousal unit. he is off today (getting ready for tailgate in a few hrs) and tomorrow (for recovery...LOL). it's perfect weather here, will be around 68'ish around kickoff & it is that day of the yr that the diet will be completely abandoned...but i did workout this AM to prepare.... so.....yesterday~ drumroll.....ran my first 5k w/out stopping...YEAH ME!...LOL not the best time, but i finally did it while in preparation for my Oct 4th 5k. today - 20min run / 10min walk / 30min elliptical onto the beer & bratts...LOL, (not a good band day - i know)

Drinking In Morning OUCH!!!!!
luluc replied to speck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
early on i did peppermint tea, which loosened things up in order to stay hydrated. i have to start the day w/warm liquids (cup or 2 of coffee or tea), otherwise i'm a bit tight to eat my breakfast - but it's not "pain", you could still be swollen from surgery.....just take it slow & try some tea. -
yesterday - b- banana scream protein drink l- half tuna melt sandwhich s- 1oz cheddar w/100 cal pretzle pack d- 1c pork stir fry - lots of veggies s- handful of grapes

Mommy Dearest, thanks for making sure I never feel happy!

"sometimes" family members are not comfortable when one asserts themself - reclaims they're autonomy. you as an adult & mom yourself gets to decide who has power in what you do / how your raise your kids. i'm pretty straight forward - only my dad has made comments to me that weren't favorable.....and still tries to on occassion, however i let him know "someone (me) will be in charge of when your get your diaper changed as an old man" and he's like : i'm being rude...yeah da, you are. when you give power of words to those who "claim" are for your benefit; you deminish your own value & question yourself. those who love you, have do so unconditionally - with strings attached is worse than anything any advesary could say or do. -
renewed, must have been on the same page today - hubby took me and my BF to the course we're running on Oct 4. FINALLY ran 5k w/out stopping - we could have had better time if we didn't chit chat in the beginning ; but we did it in 36.3mins. we SUCKED wind big time the last 10mins, not a word between us - which has NEVER happened. i am celebrating tomorrow by buying a cute running outfit - cause i deserve it!!! since Jan i have worked towards doing this & when i saw hubby at the end of the line today - he knew to hand over the wallet..LOL congrats on the size 10 renewed!! after the TT you'll be swimming in them!!! i'm off to eat like a pig ; well not really.. lulu~

heather, i've read many of your posts - and your thoughtful and sincere in your advise. i too have had unfills & just used will power - like we did while working towards restriction. that's not to say i didn't have an evening or 2 of indulgences - one night of "snacking" does not define your journey. quit beating yourself up - have a great dinner party; enjoy your company - and remember what got you to goal in about 8 months.
-
almost identicaly - i was a volume eater & hubby grazed...mostly in the evenings but we both got banded the same day. our surgeon told us not to compete (yeah right), because men will lose faster (his experience). he was right, hubby got to goal w/in 6 months.....me, not quite there. he still Snacks, but it's healthier choices rather than chips....
-
completely agree. without consistent exercise, i would never have lost close to what i have in the last yr. diet alone wasn't going to get me there. i weight train pretty hard 3 days a wk (cardio another 3) & what's interesting, i have not lost a lb since increasing the weight training - in fact i can be up a lb or 2 on any given day....however my body definition has changed that i've been able to go down another size in clothes. i'm trying not to pay too much attention to the scale when i can fit in a size 4.....so i say exercise, i see no downside to it!!
-
yesterday - b- banana scream protein drink l- chicken pot stickers (5) s- handful of kettle chips:rolleyes: d- 3/4c sesame chicken salad, glass of wine s- 1/4c grapes

Frangipani & TexasBecky get Reconstructed
luluc replied to TexasBecky's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
frangi - curves are a GOOD thing:tongue:!! glad you made it home safely, look forward to the booty pics....LOL Ike is has not produced so much problems here in DFW. it's raining/windy - but nothing like predicted & hopefully stays that way. i just heard the warnings will last till monday - but i think this might just peter out; hopefully at least. sun just poked through, but i can't get any of my dogs outside; they're my best weathermen.. -
hi mandi - close stats / close time being banded ... DFW myself. i've seen many attempts to get a group together, but nothing musters up...i only head north to visiti InLaws...LOL but would def be open to a group mtg. i'm on a couple threads: food & nutrition / and the exercise threads that check accountability & motivation ..... go do a search on some..,
