    the biggest loser (7)

i said the SAME thing to DH - i want to know how tall they are. i'm short, 5'1 (on my tippee toes - LOL) & i realize the TV can make you look a bit bigger - but either its denial or something else; these people do look a lot bigger than what that scales says. OR i just need that scale.
  2. probably so for a lifetime (38yrs) of never drinking milk - making up for loss time:smile:. i take calcium supplements daily & have my adult life, just a change in taste buds got me to craving dairy post banding..??? just odd.
  3. i was never a milk drinker prior to banding - didn't do cereal for that reason, but my tastes have changed drastically & i actually crave milk/diary - every day....and have it. last night for diner i was craving PB&J and HAD to have a cold glass of milk with it..:wink2: that was SO foreign to me pre-banding!!
  4. my heating pad was my best friend for easily 2 wks post op - couldn't sleep w/out it. some other items: *body pillow *ice pops (SF) - i had a sore throat afterwards from the intubation tube *your pain/nausea meds already filled *silly - but i got a pedicure, so at least my feet looked pretty for a few days, while i felt like crap *lots of movies lined up *phone number for the chinese restaurant handy - i had a lot of egg drop soup:tongue:

    September exercise challenge?

morning ebony - it's actually not an "old" farmhouse at all. it was built in the 90's - but only lived in 1 yr when we purchased 2.5yrs ago. we bought this ranch, more for the property - because the house essentially was condemned.....my contractor says wear & tear is so much better than a house empty - not occupied. it's one of those log cabin types with austin stone work - the exterior is completely fine - we've just gutted the inside from ceiling to floor. this has been going on since last nov. we took a break from july - sept; just to enjoy the summer - pool & such w/out workers here every day. they just started back up and was finnishing the guest bath upstairs & they busted the Water main - destroyed all of downstairs w/water & all the new wood floors / furniture / electronics - you name it. have no less than a dozen industrial fans going on right now drying the ceilings / floors, & get to deal with ins adjusters (ours * contractors today)....FUN FUN FUN:tongue2: i had to start laughing or i'd cry - :crying: onto working out....LOL cancelled my training session - just don't have it in me, plus i need to be home - but did get a 2mile run in early this morning to clear the head. have a good day all!!
  8. yesterday - b- veggie spring roll l- 2 chicken strips & bite of mash potatos s- handful of walnuts & a peach d- PB&J, lg glass of milk

    Drinking while eating??

i think i must clear a few things up. i had to have 8 fills for restriction. 8.5 in a 10cc band. if you go and look at the food & nutrition as well as the exercise threads i used will power to not exceed my needed weightloss caloric intake and worked my butt off. so i understand not being full - and i never could sustain myself on 1/2c of food at any meal. this is trial by error ; one has to determine what it will take calorie wise vs what you burn thus resulting in weightloss. normal people (those not banded) lose weight having a glass of Water w/their meal..... i don't view me wasting 15k on getting the band, because i 2 was self pay & in double fashion as hubby was banded the same day x 30k. i don't buy your theory of getting the band / hammer & drinking w/meal story - i said i'd be the dissenting voice & i'm ok with that ...

    Drinking while eating??

ya know - i have to respectfully disagree. ones rule of not drinking w/meals is just that "ones' - not all drs follow that rule of thumb. this isn't the first thread on the subject & certainly not the last - but getting the band isn't reliant strictly on reaching "satiety" alone. many have lost weight over the years - for some getting the band is a help in not regaining. so when i say it's calories in vs calories out, it's because i could diet - i just didn't want that to come back when i "would" go back to normal living / eating - and that would include a drink w/a meal. but by all means follow your drs instructions.
  12. i'm one of those cooks who "doesn't measure" - this is my take & you can def make it your own. 1.5lb ground chicken or turkey brown with garlic - salt / peper throw in 2 cloves of garlic - can't have enuff for me 3/4's of the way cook - drain, then add 1cup shredded cabbage/carrots/green onion hoison sauce & light soy - to taste i let that mixture cool - then take a tbsp into wonton wrappers (i do a bunch at a time) & steam them. i freeze them, then take out as i want, and pan sear them in seasame oil. i like a spicey tai dipping sauce. i have these at least twice a wk.

Thoughts on exercise after hitting goal weight

i love this post!! luv to lose a bit more - but will never give up what exercise has done for me. no issue w/the hubby tho - he was banded an hr after me....so this journey we have taken together & it's been terrific!!

    Drinking while eating??

going to be the dissenting voice here. i don't get no drinking w/food, yeah i understand the reasoning many drs give (physically) for "not" drinking w/meals but for the life of me, i can't get my head around the fact if you DO drink w/you meals - maintain a certain calorie intake & exercise....how is drinking w/your meal hurting you?? this is calories in - calories out. that said - not drinking w/meals was also not a mandate of my Dr. nor was not having alcohol - including beer. every dr is different / every dr has different guidelines - but i'm never going to be sold on the fact you can't drink w/your meals and not be successful. both my husband and myself were banded and he too is a beer drinker. he doesn't have but 1 or 2 a wk - but having a glass of wine here or there does not hinder the workings of the band.
  15. that's exactly what they look like - if i'm neat...LOL caloric information almost identical!!! great find - i might start buying rather than preparing....., but i like to cook..LOL:tongue:

    the biggest loser (7)

i HAVE a trainer (twice a wk) and NEVER lost more than 4lbs in one wk - my avg has always been 1-2.....UGH:rolleyes: i think they wk out multiple times a day & yes - if for 4 months you could escape life and just concentrate on working out - healthy eating / NO family & dramas associated...whew that would be great...!!

    Question - Real Food

i didn't gain , but didn't lose for another wk or two afterwards. not sure if it mattered but i didn't have a preop diet - so my "liquid stage" was limited to a wk post op only.

do you have a link to make a donation? i think it's great what your doing!!! i have a dietary update of sorts, i haven't lost a POUND in a long time, in fact i have been hovering around 127 for 3wks & had a LONG chat saturday w/my trainer. i have played around w/my food for SO long and i really haven't a clue how or what to do to break a plateau and really hadn't had one since being banded - i just thought this would just be where i ended up. he told me the days we work out, weight train to eat whole grains at every meal. toast / brown rice / oatmeal / etc. & add 4oz of orange juice, apparently OJ breaks down fat???? who knows, but i tried it & this am i saw 124.3 on the scale. was he right?? who knows - maybe i had held out long enough to drop some weight and today was the day - or like he's been saying all along; i'm not eating enough to lose, my body is holding on to what it has because on avg "we're" burning over 500 cal (even more) on run days etc. ok - my morning rant..., have downtime this AM & too much coffee has made me chatty.>>>!!

    HELP! I can't quit caffiene!

same here, in fact coffee & tea were on my post op liquid list. i realize it's an appetite stimulant - but for me, i need that in the morning - in order to eat. i found my metabolism suffers if i don't start the day off with food/nutrition....so the cup or 2 of coffee in the AM: 1- losens me up (sorta tight in the morning) 2- jump starts my meal intake for the day 3- makes me a MUCH nicer person than w/out:wink:
  22. frangi - you look FAB!!! your waist, curves & the sexy black ensemble'.. hot, hot, hot!!!!
