luluc replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm w/renewed here wishing the '08 oct group all the best ... coming up on my yr anniversary and can't say enough about how much a positive impact the band has had.... cheers~ -
ahh, bruch at their place on mckinney ave was a staple w/hubby and i. they made a killer bloody mary & poached egg/ham dish:w00t:
-
CONGRATS tootie!!! - what FANTASTIC time, espcially for not running outside often, really a great accomplishment....seeing that finnish line sure does make you pick up speed from w/in when you think...do i have much left.??. very proud to be among some amazing women here - in all stages of this journey of "running". next saturday will be my band'versary & when i started this process of getting healthy & fit i was obsessed about the scale, as 40 is approaching - i'm enjoying shifting the focus on being an athlete. those lurking....jump in, drink the kool aide - it's addicting:w00t:
-
:tongue2: - but i hear posh doesn't like to eat or exercise, i like BOTH...LOL when hubby gets back in town, time for some new pics - a grateful moment, i actually WANT to be in front of the camera rather than hide:smile2:
-

-
yes, i changed up the incline on the treadmill - but i also ran outdoors. my neighborhood is quite hilly, and it was interesting how much of an incline i could increase to on the treadmill - after getting use to running outside. good luck to you!!

thanks ya'll - LJM, there were a BUNCH of races today including, Bare as You Dare (AANR-SW Nude Racing Series) up in Denison:eek: - i couldn't imagine the girls on that race w/out the enell sport bra...LOL white rock lake, trinity part in fw had ones as well - i ran up in grapevine at the vineyards there - such a pretty setting....... not sure i love running still - but i can say it's helped my training & waistline a bunch:tongue: susan - love the new avtr pic!!!
-
thanks kathy/gg - the crowd was really awesome ; there was wine tasting going on & a jazz band playing, a whole days worth of activites. i struggled to take it all in and appreciate where i've come w/out hubby there because he my biggest fan & also the only one to put me in my place at times:wink_smile:. intersting tid-bit; we had to put a chip in our tennis shoe - which determined our official time. i swore i got under 30min; but my little ticker said differently..... my girlfriends called to take me out and celebrate - but i knew that would mean a patio & LOTS of margaritas ... and i want to hit the gym in the AM. this is one of the BIGGEST NSV"s for me; a yr ago - i would not have turned down a 'rita.
-
i don't stick to 3 meals a day - doesn't work with my lifestyle & activity. it's a process in finding out what: calories / meals choice & frequency PLUS restriction..... will take for weightloss. everyone is diff & every doc has certain requirements. my surgeon suggests 1 snack a day for those not actively exercising - at least 2 for those that are. i have found i have to play around w/my food OFTEN, meals as well as how many - be that shocking the body and mixing things up??? who knows, it's still so up in the air what will work one day for me vs another... all the best~
-
i have crohns, which has been in remission since '94'ish and was banded a yr ago. i had to have and endo & clearance from my gastro prior to banding...lapband surgeon & gastro both determined i was a good candidate and haven't experienced any flair ups. good luck to you.

posting to say i completed my first 5k this morning.....might just post that in every thread today....LOL:tongue:
-
ran my first 5k this morning & the scale hasn't been evil as of late - will take a lot to wipe the smirk off my face today:tongue2:
-
today - well completed my first 5k this morning, time - 30:36...then was a bit of psycho, and went back to the gym w/my trainer (he ran w/me) and did a 45min weight lifting circut - all upper arms & abs. trying to soak it all in, pretty proud of myself but need to keep the ego in check by heading back out in the AM to the gym.... thanks for all the support, lulu

hey all~ well i'm back, and completed the Vineyard Run, just "this" close to under 30min: 30:36. it was such a beautiful morning to run, the race was at 8:30, and i met my trainer at the gym @7:30 to ride together.....he also ran w/me & was just a totally different trainer than in the gym. very supportive and cheered me every step. i had a good breakfast (oj/coffee/banana protein drink/half slice WW toast w/butter). you all were dead on - on the high, we left the vineyard driving back to the gym, and i was like "what do i do next??" - he's like lets go workout......so i did a 45min circut of weight training and headed home. was weird doing it by myself, with hubby out of town, but i know he was thinking of me. when i got home there was a FTD box at the front door - he sent me a bouquet of my favorite (french tulips). i am worn out pysically & emotionally right now - i'm one of those who think, "whats next to do" that i don't enjoy the moment much and i'm going to try and just do that today. had all you in my head this AM, tootie - hope your race went well..... thinking a tri might be the next thing to look forward to - but i'm going to soak a bit of victory in today ... tomorrow i can let the mind wander.. hugs to you all !!!

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
luluc replied to Daisalana's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
got it - wrapping up cause i got me a little race in the morning. her folksy way wouldn't cut in my fortune 500 world when i was working in high tech sales. no matter what part of the country / world you are from - you adapt to your audience. if i'm to look at her record of being just alaska, well that's just sad....because she as VP will have to engage with more than just the "avg joe six pack" & she is not even CLOSE to being capable of that endeavor. she was cheeky & smarmy, and I wanted to root for her. her as a woman - her values and mine are polar opposites. nite all~ -

enjoyed your post indio. i mentioned in the "mccain" thread earlier today; that my husband who was on the fence of who to vote for - is in london where he watched the debate w/his british colleagues. he texted me that mccain deserves to lose by nominating the most unprofessional individual ever selected. he commented, all be it brief that his european counterparts were laughing at her. that's serious in my mind. gadget - your right, she did convey herself.....and i don't see that as a positive.
