What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
mchiasson68 replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Fat bashing is the last form of prejudice that society refuses to even try to put a stop to. If anything with the advent of so much reality TV like housewives of whatever, kardashians, etc. now it's not only about not being fat but about maintaining a perfect look with plastic surgery and hair extensions. Even male actors are thinner than ever. Look at the infomercials. Three topics. Food/ cooking, weight loss/ equipment, and tons of products to keep us all looking 21. Ladies, we've bought into a lie. I had my surgery to be healthy. But I will never be perfect. I know my genes. I'm not a thoroughbred. I'm a Clydesdale. And that's still a fine horse too. -

Well I am 3 days out. Wednesday morning can't get here fast enough!!! I am down 24lbs since I started pre op diet August 25. Re- doing my bedroom to convalesce in. Went from earth tones to bright purple and black. My husband is out of state for another 4 weeks so he's in for a few surprises! -

Started pre op liquids Friday. Was doing good til Sunday and this evening. Just needed some meat. Which led to cheese. Which led to a teaspoon if peanut butter. My surgery is September 24 and I'm praying I didn't mess up the liver thing. I'm down 16lbs since starting dr diet 3 weeks ago. -

. My NUT scared us in the pre op class. She said if we don't follow the liquids only plan and the liver doesn't soften and shrink, he will stop the surgery, close up and not do it. That's motivation enough for me. I'd die of embarrassment. -

Getting my surgery date in 3 hours!
mchiasson68 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Spent the morning in the preop class and pre-admit at the hospital. Meeting doctor at 1:30. I am so ready to do this!!! -
Excited but nervous. Had my funeral meal tonight. One last treat of Louisiana seafood. I'm ready to start this. I'm paying for the surgery and am hoping I don't have to jump through all the hoops the insurance co.requires. What should I expect on this first visit ? I already have current blood work and a car scan of my abdomen. I am starting aquatic physical therapy in the morning for my hip and to get my exercise routine in place. Any other suggestions?

Meeting my doctor tomorrow!
mchiasson68 replied to mchiasson68's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Meeting went well. Getting an upper GI test done and my gall bladder checked. Other than that should be in surgery in 3-4 weeks. Starting pre-op diet tomorrow. Nervous about all liquids for 2 weeks prior. I'll make it though. Might not be a nice person, but I'll make it???? -

I'm Approved...BCBS of IL. No six month diet
mchiasson68 replied to mentalistfan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is your policy thru work or through the govt nightmare, oops healthcare setup? I have BCBS of La that I pay for myself and it says it doesn't cover it. None of my choices offered it. -
Hi everyone! I am just starting my surgery journey and need all the help I can get. I've gained and lost the 160 lb monster that's attached to me so many times it's insane. However, now with the threat of needing new hips it's just time for "her" to die. I have certain health problems but managed to dodge diabetes and cholesterol issues. I have high BP, now the hip thing, and sleep apnea. I am fairly active still for 330lbs doing hair about 50 hrs a week. I've been as high as 400lbz and as low as 189 in the past 10 years. I'm at the end of my rope. I need advice on how to get insurance to help pay. I have. BCBS of Louisiana. Has anyone here hD success with them? Any help is sincerely appreciated.

Insurance coverage
mchiasson68 replied to mchiasson68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They say initially they don't. But I have so many others saying they did cover it. I'm hoping with letters from 3 doctors that they'll make an exception. -
Freaking out about hairloss
mchiasson68 replied to mistymc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been a hairstylist for 23 years. 2 years ago I had a bout of short term success with Ideal Protein and lost the same amt as my coworker who had the sleeve. She took a product we recommend to clients battling hair loss called AG PRO which you can get at most walmarts. However, I choose my own concoction of Biotin 10,000 mcg 1 per day, Super B Complex 3 per day, and Acai cap lets 3 per day. I have other clients on this and it's been very successful. All if these can be purchased at Walmart. The Acai juice is most important as I have found even in clients who just have fine , limp hair, that after a month of consistent use the strength and vitality returns dramatically. If you start this regimen pre-op as one of my clients did, her hair loss was almost non existent. Hope this helps. Meeting my doctor this week to start the process for myself.
