Issue with very irregular bowel movements

My doctor said the protein shakes stop you up. A few days after going to my normal food, I was able to had a BM without milk of magnesia which is a life saver by the way! I now eat fat free refried beans at least once every other day and that seems to help me.

    Sharp Pains in Stomach

I am 1 month post-op and have done really well so far. This morning I took 2 different vitamin compounds the doctor recommended to take a month out. I immediately broke out into hives and had to get benadryl. So, I have been fine until now. I am having sharp pains in my stomach. I'm finding if I sit hunched over it helps a bit, but not much. My husband tried to help me lay back, but the pain was unbearable, so I sat up. Any advice????

    Sharp Pains in Stomach

I haven't had trouble with the staples, but the benadryl makes sense. Thank you for your help! It is just a light pain now and not constant.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

I I'd you have a hernia repair? I was sleeved on July 31st and I am having pains in my neck and arm too. Doc said it is because the nerves that are where he worked on my hernia run up to my neck and down through my arm.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

I just hit is 2 days ago. My doc said that the scale won't move, but my body will continue to change and I will still see differences in my clothing. Keep getting in your protein and drink your fluids. I just get to add beans and scrambled eggs and happy with to that addition lol
  6. Hey, my doc said the gargling in the back of the throat will eventually go away...no need to call Ghostbusters

Thank you for the advice, I will definitely wait a while now
  9. I'm jealous, lol I normally carry my tervis cup filled with water and that straw. I am a gulper too. My doc told me no more straws for life because it encourages gulping. I was bummed, but happy to re gift all my cups with straws to my mom.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

I had surgery on 7-31 also and have my check up on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to him telling me I can add beans, pureed veggies, and crackers. I'll have 2 weeks of that before I move to solid food. I am ready to eat and chew too, but hey we've done the liquids for this long right? Lol I just can't wait for the stage when I can have eggs because I've been craving an over medium with pepper and cholula

  12. Does anyone live in East Texas? I know a couple people who have had the sleeve, but aren't doing support groups.

    Wills Point...Edgewood...Canton, TX

I'm excited for you! My surgery date was 7-31. Things are going well because whAt my doctor told me to do is exactly what I am doing. Are there support groups in Tyler? The closest and most convenient for me right now is Rockwall, but feel like I can find something closer. Take your time to heal, but move. I started out walking around the house and have gradually built up to walking 25 minutes per day sometimes for 5 minutes at a time. Have you found a protein shake you like? I've been drinking premier protein for 3 weeks now and still like it. Let me know if you have any questions about anything. Congratulations on your new life

    Photo 3 month post op

Seeing your awesome progress has me excited. Good for you!!!
  15. I am 12 days post-op. My doc has me sipping liquids throughout the day. I have been on a liquid diet and on Wednesday get to add beans, crackers, and pureed veggies. I'm finding I'm still getting use to what it feels like to be satisfied with my protein shakes. Sometimes with my sugar free pudding, I can only handle 2 oz instead of 3. Be careful on how much you're eating. Even if it feels like you can eat that much, your new pouch may not feel the same way.

    Heartburn!

I have to take pepcid twice a day for a month post-op and then once a day for life as prescribed by my doctor.

    HELP, STALLED? CONFUSED!

Mike....I am 12 says post-op and I eat tomato soup daily, but the healthy select and add nothing to it. I measure out 3 ounces(that's the most I can have at one time) in a small plastic container and eat it with a baby spoon. When I put it in my mouth, I don't just swallow. I leave it on my tongue and then press against the roof of my mouth. This helps me make it last longer and actually enjoy my food. Also, just downloaded eat slowly app that was recommended so that I make sure I stretch my meals over 30 minutes. Oh, and the soup hasn't stopped my weight loss. I have lost 21 pounds. I do walk 25 minutes per day that are typically broken down into 3-5 sessions. I hope this helps.

    protein bars?

Julie Norton....I buy my quest bars on amazon

    Gas pains

Nellie, water made me nauseous and I couldn't drink it until around day 7. Try crystal light or powerade zero. I used the one ounce cups too to make sure I would sip. Keep walking for the pain and I would use a heating pad. When you are just sitting, move your shoulders around to help relieve the gas. It's okay to burp and toot. I am 12 says out and a friend kept telling me each day gets a little better. It's hard to believe now, but it does. I am already back to working with our vinyl business and getting ready for my new group of First Graders. I held a pillow when I walked because my tummy would jiggle and hurt my incisions. Take it nice and slow. I started walking around the living room worked up to venturing out through the rest of our house and then to outside. If you have a loved one to walk with you, it seems that much easier. Keep moving...it gets better.

    I think I messed up.....

Hi Noelle610....we are surgery date buddies! My doc told me if at anytime I feel I do something that may get me off track, to go back a step. I understand that this is hard. I was the eat meals and then eat bowels of cereal and other snacks between meals (which was just unhealthy trash) I don't have children yet, but the reason for my surgery is so that I can live life to its fullest and take care of myself to the best of my ability. My best friend, mother of my nephews, died 4 years ago from heart failure. She didn't have a choice, but I do and I would hate to not be around for my family just because I couldn't put the food down and get busy doing something else. I will be thinking of you as this is tough for us, but we can be strong and male it through this

    5 days out of surgery...

Did you have a hernia? I've had pains in my chest from that.
  22. Healthy for Life

    Any july surgery dates?

Thstcurvygirl...we are very similar. My surgery was 7-31. Starting weight 255 and goal for now is 180 because I'm 6 foot tall and then will reevaluate once I've reached that goal. Things are going good, just ready I chew on something besides jello and Popsicles lol
  23. Im 11 days post-op. Get the temptation out of your house. I have been drinking premier protein shakes that fill me up, but when I do have an unhealthy urge to eat (who wouldn't, I haven't chewed food in 18 days) I grab my pillow to cover my tummy and head out the door for a walk. If it's night time (I live in1 the country and no thanks on being approached by critters at night lol) I grab a sugar-free popsicle or vanilla pudding. You can do this...we can do this
