Help! I'm so discouraged! What's wrong with me?

Why would a doctor 'fake' fills? Just curious. Thanks  -
What horrible things have Dr.s said to you?

OMG that has to be the funniest story I have ever heard! -
Mindy, that's a GREAT idea! I weigh myself every day and sometimes it's hard to keep positive when I see a gain overnight. I hate waiting a week as well to find out how I have done.

Thanks for your replies. Munchkin that makes so much sense about the anesthetic leaving through the hair follicles... my hair is just sooo dry now, it feels like straw. It is very uncomfortable. Very unusual as I have had processed hair for years (I go between blonde and red) now but always had soft hair.

How about sugar free peppermint chocolate patties?

Quick question... When I wear the armband all night long, my energy expenditures are higher, vs. when I take it off. However, I have only had my bugg for a week or so, so I have no idea if this is because of me not wearing it at night, or due to my body burning a different amount of calories each day. Any ideas? Also, TMI! Is there an activity category for SEX? Seriously! I couldn't find anything in there. I mean doing it for an hour has GOT to make a difference --- and it isn't fun wearing one while doing it so I need to go in and manually enter the calories myself.

Here is another study with a much better outcome, based on one surgical team. Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding in 1,791 c...[Obes Surg. 2007] - PubMed Result

Another thing, how does this failure rate compare to those in Europe and other countries who have been using the band for a longer period of time? Hmmmm....
-
I wonder if the study disclosed the failure rate for each surgeon who performed the operation, and if that specific group of surgeons contributed to the high failure rate.

Unbelievable. My heart aches for his family. I have been anxiously awaiting for The Dark Knight to hit theaters and was absolutely blown away at this news. It's very eerie how his character looks similar to the late Brandon Lee in The Crow. Apparently he died of pneumonia?

Doctor in Mexico - Dr. Francisco Contreras

The Oasis hospital is a big scam, do a google search and you will find some interesting links. There is also a link on the Oasis Hospital site to the lapband clinic. Coincidence? See: Scared to death - Erika Zelem was told she had breast cancer. Subject: Letter to the Editor Re: Alt-Med Cancer Treatments Date: Fri, 09 Apr 1999 12:08:28 -0700 To: Editor John G.Craig, Jr. 34 Blvd of the Allies Pittsburgh, PA 15222 Editor Craig: Thanks to the Post-Gazette for the front page story of Patti Davis's terrible experience with alternative cancer therapy at a clinic in Tijuana, Mexico (P-G 4/9/99). Given the popularity of such unproven treatments, her tragic story is but one of hundreds of similar cases going totally unreported in the nation's alt-med-entranced media. It is ironic that just two weeks earlier the Post-Gazette Your Health section ran an advertisement for a lecture by Dr. Francisco Contreras, the Chief-of-Staff of a similar alternative medicine cancer clinic in Tijuana. The clinic is cynically called "The Oasis of Hope Hospital". As I explained in a prior letter to the Post-Gazette's Health Editor, Francisco Contreras is the son of Dr. Ernesto Contreras, one of the perpetrators of the Laetrile (apricot pit oil) cancer cure hoax of the 1960s and 1970s. As a result of meeting Dr. Contreras, other desperate Pittsburghers no doubt have just this past week been enticed to pursue "hope" in Tijuana. Contreras was invited to Pittsburgh by Chiropractor Martin Gallagher to speak March 27 at a seminar given by Three Rivers Health and Nutrition. Gallagher, a constant presence on regional radio and TV, has, in my opinion, built his career on undermining public confidence in mainstream medicine. He even markets his own book on what he calls "21st Century" medicine. The Federal Trade Commission has recently begun cracking down on false and misleading health advertising. Perhaps it is time for the Post-Gazette to begin monitoring its own advertising policies for the sake of the public's health. The media should be doing its utmost to expose dangerous quackery, instead of promoting it for a few extra advertising dollars. Thank You, E. How about sex? Seriously! Nothing better to interest you and getting you all revved up than thinking of how much better in shape you will be...that there will be an end in sight, all of your weight loss efforts WILL pay off..... I tell you it has worked for me, and my husband isn't complaining!  :w00t: I feed off of the attention... nighttime is my worst time for eating, but how can I eat when I am busy in the bedroom? *grin* HTH -

Some more random thoughts (ha ha) My girls feed off of my mood, so if I am in a crappy mood they will fight with each other. Put on a fake face as much as you can, praise them for their good behavior, redirect/time out when they are difficult. Another thing is to put myself in their place...remembering what it was like to be two, three, and mommy is all you know, and to imagine what it is like for them to be yelled at ... for them to be very scared and upset..... you are also a lot taller than them so imagine how they see things from their level. I have read up on all stages of development and understand what my kids can comprend and how they look at things for each age. i.e. when my daughter was two, she wasn't doing things to agitate me, she was doing things, let's say making a mess out of dinner, throwing the food on the floor, because to her it was a lot of fun. Experimenting with action/reaction - hey this is fun throwing the Cereal everywhere! I love how the food feels in my fingers.... a lot of the time they get very focused on what they are doing and might appear to be 'not listening' but what is really going on is that they are completely fascinated with what they are playing with and in their own little world. Another thing is to just be honest --- saying, mommy isn't feeling very well right now. Can you help me feel better? I would love some hugs from you. Can you do a play for me? (for the older one). My girls just love to do plays so I can just sit on the couch, relax, and watch them act it out for me. Maybe ask the oldest - could you be a big sister/brother and pretend to have a daycare for the twins? I hope this helps somewhat...I feel so bad for you! I have been there, and still go through that.... you're a GOOD MOM because you recognize what is going on and want to correct it. -

Oh Rain, (((hugs))). I'm so sorry you are going through such a difficult time. I have two small children as well - five and three. I was just thinking of some ideas to help alleviate the situation of being stuck inside with a bunch of sick kids... Have you tried getting them to play with something, or do something, that they aren't normally allowed to do? i.e. having something special only when they are sick. What I let my girls do is make forts in the livingroom with my couch cushions and blankets. Making things for them to do so they are somewhat self-sufficient, playing away, to give you a break. Another thing is letting them have some sort of a picnic with special goodies (I know with the two year olds this might be tricky). Pulling out toys that they haven't played with in a while. Letting them go crazy with art time, i.e. letting them all color on a big piece of cardboard or a paper roll (i.e. the ones you get from ikea).....then they can play with the cardboard after (making a house, etc.) Another thing is to put on a video (I know, babysitting) that they don't normally get to watch - something 'special', so they are all content in the livingroom for at least an hour so you can have some time for yourself. Let them have tons of pillows on the livingroom floor with blankies, and all of their stuffies, so it's a fun event. Make it so they are having a sleepover! A campout. Something different. These are just off the top of my head..it's 6 am and my kids just woke ME up so I am having a hard time getting back to sleep ... I haven't slept through the night in YEARS! --- I'm thinking of some other ideas to help you cope with the food withdrawal...not sure if your preferences are salty or sweet....one thing that worked for me was the sugar-free peppermint patties...Celestial Seasonings English Toffee tea (very nummy!)...vanilla chai tea (buy the tea, boil the Water and add hot milk to the mix, add splenda, voila). 100 calorie packs of cookies/chips ....diet hot chocolate....cut up bananas in milk with sugar/splenda on top (nummy...)..... I hope this somewhat helps the situation... again sending some big e-hugs to you! -

I disagree with your statement with regards to suicide. I went through a very dark period in my life after my mom died prematurely from cancer (she had just turned 40), and my dear grampa died three weeks before her. The only motivation / feeling I had when suicidal was sheer desperation to get away from the pain, the exhaustion, the anguish that was a constant in my life. Being a guinea pig for many different mind-altering medications left me in a horrendous state, more so than what I would have been like had I NEVER taken any antidepressants to begin with. It had nothing to do with being controlled by those that knew me, or proving that I was in control with my life. How could I be in control when there is was no escape? Choosing to die had nothing to do with control...it had everything to do with relief. It was like being tortured....trying to get away from the pain....

How do you feel about non surgical weightloss success stories?
Done replied to solaa5's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your post really hit home with me. I, too, watched my mom go through years of yo-yo dieting, only to pass away at the age of 40. WW, TOPS, you name it, it was a staple in her household. She had lost about 30 lbs to get down to 150 back when I was about 8 years old, but then regained it and was always trying to get the weight back off of her. I have always wondered if the yo-yo dieting contributed to her dying of pancreatic cancer. -
oh. my. god. I had to load a separate webpage listing all of the scientology 'jargon' to understand what he was talking about. Even then I only understood maybe the last two sentences! OK Tom, we know you want to help. We feel you.

I hear ya! Going through the same thing. Even though I finally reached the 260's today, it is still in my head, I'll be fat FOREVER. (((hugs))). I'm quite sure all of the successful bandsters have gone through the same feelings.
