alyce replied to PurpleRose419's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PurpleRose.... I feel the same way ... I posted but didn't get a lot of answers.... I tried yogurt and it was so painful across my front and back.... Is this going to pass because if not I would say I would definitely regret this. -

Was sleeved 5 days ago... Went to my great nephews birthday today ... He turned 2...... My niece had apple juice that was organic no added sugar... It was a juice box... As I was talking I took the straw inserted it... And drank the whole juice box not even realizing I was using a straw!!! Nothing happened... What do you think ? Alyce

Jaz... I was scheduled to have my surgery at 8am... Got to the hospital at 5am as they told me... They prepped me and took me to the holding area at 7:30... At 8:30 the two nurses said we have some bad news... I thought I was going to die... Words I just couldn't digest .. Then she says there was a mix up and the surgeon does not come in until 1... I didn't want to get upset but I thought about leaving ... Thinking maybe this was not meant to be ... However I had gone through this whole journey... I was not giving up. Stay focused... You can do it. Alyce

I know it is different for everyone... However I was wondering when people started to go out... Not back to work... But just out. The reason I asking is because I was sleeved august 27... Three days ago ..... I have a hair appointment .. Just a wash and blow dry... Should I cancel it or go. I feel pretty good. Just curious when everybody else started to venture out. Alyce

Here it is me again with another question.
alyce posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does the feeling of gas pass after a while you are drinking ? When I drink my protein shakes I can feel gas.... I burp and it goes away... Someone please tell me this is not forever. Last question.... Will I have to sip the rest of my life or will I be able to gulp.... I love in Florida and I have to drink my water when I am hot.... These are things I never thought of asking....and is it forever without a straw? Thank you for all your support. Alyce -

I was sleeved 3 days and I have major anxiety... I take meds.... The entire journey I was going to quit.... But I was determined to go through with it... You will do fine... As soon as they woke me up.... I said I did it ... I did it.... Hang in there!

I was sleeved 3 days ago and I know that is soon but should I continue with full liquids even though I have gas with everything... Even water! Does the gas from surgery take a while to get out of your system... I need some reassurance . Alyce

I was just sleeved on Wednesday august 27... Monday is Labor Day and I plan on going in on Tuesday to work. I am a teacher and I work with small groups with reading intervention and the children come to me. If I feel like it's too much I will go home ... I don't require a sub....but I hoping it will be fine.

Hi I everyone...just got home yesterday ... Got sleeved on Wednesday ... So a couple of questions for all you veterans... I feel very tired... Normal? Also I have no appetite.... Normal ? She started me on full liquids... Did clear in the hospital and I was able to tolerate it... So if I gave a couple of sips of soup or jello is that normal ? Or should I be eating all the soup... Also my protein shakes? Drink a whole one? If I get discomfort is that a signal to stop? I gave this info in my book... But I feel like the people that are actually experiencing this are better equipped to give advice. Thanks so much.

First, congratulations on such a huge step. You are in your way to better health. In terms of what is normal, everyone differs but here's my experience. I was dog tired the first 2 weeks (sleeved 7/14/14) and didn't get energy until week 3. Part if it was due to caffeine withdraw. I used to down coffee in the am and Dt. Pepsis all darn day. Add to the fact that I just had major surgery--sleeve and hernia repair at once--and I was straining just to stand for 1 minute! I am back to drinking coffee but it is a mixture of 80% decaf and 20% dark roast caffeinated. I have banned Dt. Pepsi and soda as well as any other drink with caffeine. Also, your calorie intake is very low due to restrictions in diet so its only natural to be tired. Follow the eating plan they gave you but I say stop when you feel satisfied. I made the mistake of going a little overboard and regretted it the rest of the night. I threw up and had a serious stomachache. Be sure to stay hydrated because you won't find yourself wanting to eat but definitely be mindful about when you feel satisfied. I am 1.5 mos out and still can't finish an entire shake. I can get down about 1/2 to 3/4 cups of soft foods in a meal then I have to stop. Soup of about a cup. Good luck to you! I am sure you'll do well. Remember: protein, vitamins (if prescribed), water, water, water, and get up and move even if its only 5 minutes at a time. It gets easier. I still get tired by about 3 pm but I try to power through. Going to start incorporating light strength training into my regiment. That will help with energy.[/quoteThank you so much... Glad to know some of this is normal ... I too had a repair of a hernia ...I am do happy to know that I can just have little bits... Again I don't have an appetite but I know I have to stay hydrated and take my vitamins. Thanks again for responding !
