  1. YES! It's been 5 days for me and today's the second day I've been able to get out of bed and stand on my own. I went into the surgery with a cough, and coming out was well....BAD. I was told to use a pillow up against my belly as a "splint" to help ease the pain when I cough. It still hurts, but not nearly as it would w/o it. Laughing was out of the question for me, and I'm all about laughter. Sometimes when I'm just laying down I'll place the pillow on my tummy and kinda rest my arms on it. I gave up on the meds on day 2...the taste just wasn't worth what little help it offered; and I mean LITTLE. Also, I find it amazing when the banded are back to work w/in two days. I bet it's less often than not. When asked, my doc said he's seen people feel great w/in 2 days, some w/in 3 weeks. I think by Monday you'll feel much better. I definitely won't be back to work after week one, tho...but my job's pretty physically demanding. It'll subside...promise. Each day will be better than the last.
  2. Got banded 4 days ago and though I have zero regrets, the post-op stuff I was made aware of is starting to get to me. Laying down, I'm gravy...I just extremely tired of being in bed all the time. I stand up...pain in the chest. Once it subsides, my heart starts to beat a little faster. Then it all goes away until I start the cycle all over again. I was told this is from the residual CO2 in the abdominal cavity and that it would go away. But it feels like it's my heart that's the problem. Spoke to my nurse and he says that that is, in fact, the gas - in time it'll go away. I haven't had a painless burp, well...I can't even call it that, since the procedure. I canNOT stand lying down all day, but I dread standing or sitting up because of this pain. Anyone go through this? Any advice? Gas-X hasn't worked at all for me... Help! :cry

    CO2 tension...owie.

This is great to hear...well, I mean, it's unfortunate, but I was to the point of doubting what my doc's been saying. Knowing that there are others with the same probs is quite reassuring. Thanks!

Thank you all soooo much. I will do exactly what you've told me to do...as hard as it's been. But if it works for you, it'll work for me! Can I just say that this forum is great? I didn't expect to even receive one reply this soon. This'll definitely help me on my road to success!!
  5. Hello all...I'm so glad to be part of this forum. I was banded this past Saturday, 10/13/07, and have ZERO regrets after doing so. My surgeon is Dr. Mark Paya from the Brand Surgical Insitute in Glendale, CA. The team there is absolutely wonderful! Seriously some of the kindest people I've ever met, and that's hard to come by where I'm from. As for my post-op experience, I'm in pain still, but am confident it will go away; each day is better than the last. I've lost 13 lbs so far and am so excited about the future!
