  1. Well that explains it! I was sleeved 9/16 and have had a rough couple days with the nausea. What happens is when I throw something up, I can't even force myself to eat it again (lunch meats and chicken are now out for me, sadly). My surgeon had us go to regular textured foods at two weeks and maybe that was too early. I think I'm going back to liquids for a few days then try solids again.

    A stall already?

Jjinwa-agreed! I'm working on it. I couldn't stand the "milky" shakes, so I bought the isopure ones yesterday. I don't really like them, but they don't give me the phlegm feeling.

    A stall already?

Don't feel bad, I'm at 3 weeks and a day and I'm UP 4lbs! I think it's due to not drinking enough Water because I only pee once a day and my ankles are swollen (so I'm retaining everything I drink). Plus, I haven't pooped since Sunday. I'm also having an issue getting Protein in, but I'm coming in under 400 calories a day, so it's mathematically impossible that those 4 pounds are fat. So today is all about drinking. I'm sure my 4lbs will be gone in a couple days, it's just so frustrating when you aren't eating and still feel so weak.
  4. Three weeks, actually. However I'm going to wait another week to swim because I had an allergic reaction to the glue and my incisions are a little iffy (I live in south fl, so my pool looks so good right now)
  5. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks post-op for me. Today was the first day I felt normal EXCEPT any time I tried to put anything in my mouth. I get nausea all the time, but usually it's because I "forget" about my sleeve and eat/drink too quickly. This happens. Every. Freaking. Day. You'd think I would have learned by now! So, I think it's normal...unless you are actually vomiting, then dehydration is a real concern and you need to call your surgeon.
  6. I am just a little over two weeks (sleeved 9/16) and that deep left side pain decided to hit me today at about 3pm (and it's still there), where I have not had any pain at all since leaving the hospital. I also started back to work today and my job involves sitting at a desk all day, so I think my body is just not used to sitting all day. I hope it goes away soon as it is very distracting and annoying.
  7. I was sleeved on 9/16 and had my 2 week post-op visit today. The only lingering symptom I have is fatigue, but I just need to bring up my liquids and calories to combat this (easier said than done!). The good news is that I am down 19 since surgery for a total of 36 since the start of the liquid diet on 9/1. Woo hoooo! The surgeon also lets us start on regular textured food today.

    Really upset with psych

Oh, and it's nice to like your surgeon, but his purpose is just to do the surgery and let you go on with your life. I would also consider finding a new one.

    Really upset with psych

You should go to a different psyc. He can't force you to use his. I know it's expensive, but call around and see what the going rate is...this sounds like life or death to you. You can work on "loving yourself " when you are off of BP and diabetes medication. The power these people have makes me so mad.
  10. I was sleeved on 9/16 and today is the first day I wasn't nearly bed ridden with fatigue. Not that I am ready to run a marathon or anything, but I actually did two loads of laundry today ! My fatigue was probably worse than most because I was on a constant dose of Benadryl since Friday because I had an allergic reaction to the glue they used to close the incisions. The rash spread to most of my upper abdomen, including my breasts and I was in total agony. I finally talked them into prescribing me prednisone and that had helped greatly so I didn't need to take the Benadryl today (still itchy though, using cortisone cream for that).
  11. I was sleeved on 9/16 and today I felt so good this morning (besides the rash from an allergic reaction I had from the incision glue - which is getting better) that I forgot about the sleeve and took a big 'ole gulp of my Crystal Lite. OUCH!!!! I have to remember not to do that.

    Nerves picking up

My surgery was 9/16 and I was extremely nervous about it...now I am four days post op and it all worked out! The funny thing was that on the morning of surgery, I was still really nervous on exactly how much insurance would actually pay and how much I would be responsible for, so apparently right after my first shot of anesthesia (the one they give you to chill out a bit), my sister said that I made some crazy and off topic comment on how my insurance is supposed to pay for this surgery...I do not recall saying this at all! But we all had a good laugh about it later.
  13. Sleeved on 9/16 and today was my first full day home. I'm still battling a little with nausea as I threw up my pain pill and my protein shake, but vomiting was less painful today then it was yesterday-- so that's an improvement. I have had a hard time getting down liquids (I'm on full liquids), so today I probably got in about 16 oz of liquid and a sf ice pop, not good. The only thing that surprises me is how weak and tired I still am. I probably sleep 40 minutes out of each hour. The other weird problem I have been having is that my skin is having a reaction to either the steri strips or glue they use so my incisions are red and itchy! The surgeon told me I should try to peel the steri strips off and take a benedryl.
  14. Comments like this remind me of the people who tell me when I feel hungry, I should just drink Water. Yeah ok, I'll try that next time, you idiot. LOL You know the saying that everyone should have to work in a restaurant or in retail at least once in their life? I think people should have to try being obese once in their life so maybe they will stop saying asinine things. It's almost like the 2% of people who are actually able to take their excess weight off by diet and exercise are somehow morally superior. We have to take the whole moral judgement out of obesity, we are not morally deficient people because we needed surgical intervention to get to a healthy weight! It's a disease!

    Confession!

Yes. The last weekend before my liquid fast (which started 9/1 so I'm on day 3 now) I went nuts. But by Sunday night, I was so over eating and eager to start the liquid diet (which I'm struggling with now).

No Sleep apnea test for insurance, but that might be a surgeon's requirement.

I also have this insurance. Along with the psych clearance and post op nutritional support, I had to show 6 months of following a structured diet. Luckily I had saved my old weight watchers cards.....from 2002....and they accepted it! I am scheduled for VSG on 9/16.
