Australian Bandsters Chat Thread
kimspatience replied to susannah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
On thursday I saw my surgeon in NSW, Australia. I am booked in for surgery on the 5.2.08. After being examined I was told that because I have had 2 hernia ops done within 2 years, and have a big piece of mesh in my tummy, that if he cannot get the instruments in to put a lap band in, he may need to put a gastric sleeve in. It is now 1.45am Saturday here and be blowed if I can find anything on the internet about a gastric sleeve. Please reply if anyone knows where I can find the info, or if they have a gastric sleeve in. Thank You.....Hugs Kim xx :help: -
Is Lapband Removal Dangerous?
kimspatience replied to white rabbit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello from Australia, I was given a date to be lap banded yesterday. It will not be untill the 5/2/08 because of the Christmas holidays. One thing worried me, I weigh 122kilos at present, I am 62 years YOUNG, and have had 2 hernia ops in the last 2 years. Because I have mesh right across my tummy, my sugeon suggested it may be best for me to have a gastic sleeve put in, rather than a lap band. May I ask how I find out more about a gastric sleeve? I have lost 6 kilos by myself over the past 2 months, it may be best for me not to have an op at all, just hang in there and keep eating healthy. Hugs Kim xx -

Hi Mark and others members. I have my visit with my surgeon next thursday. I have also been to see the dietician yesterday. Will hopefully get a date for sugery early next year. I started at aprox 128kilos, now sitting on 122.4kilos. I am as nervous as a kitten about this surgery as I am 62. I am from NSW, Australia. Hugs Kim xx -
Hi mandi, I also just joined this forum and live on the on the mid north coast of NSW about 4-5 hours north of Sydney by car. I go to Port Macquarie tomorrow to start my councelling for lap band surgery. Hopefully, I should be lap banded early next year. It was not just a matter of making an appointment with my surgeon Dr. Nigel Peck, but I also had to agree to attend meetings first with his nurse, then a psychologist, a nutritionist... all before they will agree to do my surgery. I am 128kilos 'by todays weigh in' so have a lot of kilos to lose. Will find out more tomorrow. If you have msn or yahoo messenger, please feel free to add yourself, I would love to be your friend and share our weight loss info. I am 62 years young haha!!! so it is a bit scary for me. Anyone else who would like to add themselves to my messengers as weight loss friends...please feel free to do so...the info is on my profile. Hugs, Kim from Australia xx

Hello chasity, I am also new, tomorrow is my 1st visit with my surgeons nurse, so I am rather excited, also a bit scared. Guess I will be asked many questions. I just wish I was young like you are, and, lap banding was around when my children were younger. I am now 62 but am praying for great success with banding. Hugs, Kim xx

Hello From New South Wales, Australia
kimspatience posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, Tomorrow I visit the nurse re-questions on lap banding. My surgeon will be Dr. Nigel Peck and he operates at Port Macquarie Private Hospital, N.S.W. Australia. I am 62 years old and weigh 128kilos, so am a little scared of surgery at my age. I was wondering if there were members on this forum who were similar in age to me. Also, if there are any members from New South Wales here, as it would be lovely to share information with them. I was told Dr. Nigel Peck does lap banding on patients between the ages of 18 and 65 years of age. I have private health insurance, but was also told there could be extras adding up to 3-4 thousand dollars over and above my private health insurance, which I understand is normal. Not quite sure where I fit into this forum, as a member, but am looking forward to making friends and sharing information. Hugs, Kim xxxx:help:
