I used to be addicted to tootarts! There kinda like sweetarts but REALLY SOUR! Very very bad for your teeth too. I'm into sour foods like pickles and saurkraut juice.

8 lbs in that short amout of time is great. I would just laugh it off like you did too.

I have the vanguard band. My first fill was 3cc and I can't wait for another fill on march 3rd because I have only a slight restriction now so I'm thinking the DR. will put in another 3cc....... I'll let you know.

Marcelle, I wish you sooooo much luck with surgery and weight loss. It's a scary thing going under the knife, I believe we all have the same fears and thoughts of dying before surgery, it's very normal. I wrote a will to my husband before surgery and got all my papers in order just in case. Let us know when your home and recuperating and loosing..........

I started on salads on my 4th week. I live on them now.

Dear Franp, So sorry you had to go through such an awful experience but it is amazing that a Doctor and a huge company actually got together and paid everything in full! Did you ever find out how you got the blockage? Was it from the band or the way it was placed by the Dr? Would be interesting to know. After what you've been through I wish you so much success with your new Lap-band,you deserve it.

I agree with 3loves ask for the $200 and buy yourself something "from him". My DH didn't get me anything either but he wrote me a poem and put it in my purse for me to find. It made me make me happy............

I eat bran cereal every morning and It's a lifesaver!

I was voted to go pick up the chinese food last night and where you pick up the food is at the bar. Someone was suppose to pick up the food at 5:30 and it was almost 6:30 when I came to pick it up, so I told the guy behind the counter "sorry I was so late" and the guy sitting at the bar turns to me and says "Why were you having a baby?" then looks me up and down and then he says "oh sorry" and starts to laugh and the guy behind the counter laughs. I was and still am feeling like crap, I really didn't need that cut down. My husband said if he was there he would have belted the guy but it still doesn't make me feel any better. Just venting my hurt feelings......................

Thank you guys for cheering me up! I've thought about this all day and wish I would have come back with something cleaver but I think I was in shock at the moment. But ohhhh I wish I would have put him on the spot and told him "Hey do you guys really feel better making someone eles feel bad?" I always can think of something to say way later, Oh well...... You know I would call the managment but the guy at the bar is related to the owners, but I do agree I won't be going there again!

It took me 11 months to go through all the insurance requirements. it's Bull*^#* if you ask me and they say that it's necessary because they want to make sure your comitted to the program. I think just commiting to surgery is a tough enough decision and then having to go through everything is awful. Hey at least you don't have to go to a physical trainer like they required us to do and pay 400 dollars out of our pockets for too!

Dear Rozi, Count me in as a binge eater too! I did find that those flavored sugar free coffee's help me through the worst of binges because it helps me with my huge sweet tooth and it fills the gap for a while at least. I wish so much that I had willpower to not pick at food all the time but If I did have willpower I wouldn't be so fat anyway, unfortunatly the band hasn't helped me with my head thing. So I have to find other ways to satisfy myself I guess.

I have no problems with rice, I love it many ways. However bread seems like it goes down really slowly so I stay away from it.

Anyone else get a choice of a walkman or pedometer from Inamed?

I got the radio and headphones and the headphones hurt my ears. -
I too wrote a goodbye letter to my husband and cried all the way through it. I just gave him the letter the other day and he cried. Hearing of so many deaths associated with the gastric bypass I guess it's only human to wonder if maybe they died from the anethesia because of the extra weight on the lungs and heart. However the chances are they died from infections from the intestines being re-routed. It's scary to even think about that. That's why I chose the band because it was soooo much safer but the anestesia is the same in both cases and people do die from it. That's why I was scared and said my goodbyes but I was still willing to take that risk.

I had a fill 2 weeks ago and It didn't do much because I can eat a lot and I'm hungry all the time. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaa (thats me crying). I'm still trying to keep my calories under 1500 a day but it's getting harder. I think I'm going to make another appointment to get yet another fill scheduled, is anyone eles in the same situation as me?

I can't wait till I have PB.

I truely feel your pain it took me 11 months to get banded I think thats rediculous!
-
The reason I got banded was because I have a heart problem BAVD (Bicuspid Aeortic Valve Disease) and I needed to get this darn weight off for my hearts sake............ So god forbid that you do have a problem with your heart I really don't believe it will affect your getting banded. Good luck and I'll Keep my fingers crossed for you.

Stop beating yourself up. The reason your getting the band is because of bad eating habits, and we all wouldn't be here if we ate small portions and stayed true on diets. My doctor gave me a 5 pound weight gain limit and I gained 3 pounds the week before my surgery and another 2 before the actual surgery. I also went out for a lobster feast the night before my surgery, and I had surgery at 8 in the morning. I just had to make sure I hadn't had anything to eat or drink for 12 hours prior to surgery. I really wouldn't worry about once the lap band is on and your eating habits because you can't and won't want to eat when it's over believe me. I was a huge pig before I got the band. I could eat sooooooo much and now I eat under 1500 calories a day, it's amazing. DON"T CANCEL! Just think how much it took to get you this far. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you on the 24th.

SRaeM, Yes I too suffer with monthly migraines. I too was afraid that I couldn't have the band because of the severe nausea i get. You won't believe how many suffer like we do with miraines on this forum. I was surprised at all the answers I recieved when I asked about migraines also. I don't take meds on a regular basis because I have migraines due to hormones so I experience them once a month usually but so far I've been fine with just Adult extra strength liquid tylenol for the pain and promethazine for the nausea.

1 cc Now in my 4 cc band this is my second fill.Do all doctors start off this small??
Tootarts replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
lAdysplenda, I have the Vanguard band and my Doctor says he always starts everyone out with 4 cc. and then adjusts to everyones comfort level. I must have a big stomach because when I had the band on without anything in it I felt restriction and on my first fill 4cc was too much so he unfilled to 3cc and it was fine. I don't know what type of band you have but 1/2cc doesn't seem like much to me. Also I'm 50 miles away from my Doctor and so I want to make sure when I go see him it's not just a waste of time or money, you know what I mean? Sometimes it seems were at the mercy of our Doctors but in reality they work for us, so maybe you should insist on more cc's but I also think it depends on what type of band you have. -
I had this same thing happen to me on New years! I went out to a fancy place for dinner with friends and family and ordered a whiskey sour. I had 4 sips and all of a sudden POW pain in my chest. I had to excuse myself and was in the restroom for 15 minutes, my husband almost sent out the possie for me. I could not eat a thing and ruined the evening for some at the table. Anyhow I was in pain for 3 or 4 hours after. I am scared of drinking now, and I love an occational drink dam it!
