Road Queen. Are you happy with your weight loss? Thats all I would at this point be concerned about. I personally would be rejoicing. I still want food all the time the only thing thats changed for me is that I have to chew a lot or I get stuck other than that I still am hungry most of the time. I really think you have a blessing going on, I would go with the flow.........

Could you possibly have gained a little weight? Our bands tighten a bit when we gain even a slight amount, when we lose it loosens and we can eat more.
-
Denika, You could Always have an unfill if it's too tight. Since your last fill have you lost weight? Thats what I would go by. You have done so great with weight loss so far, don't beat yourself up by not loosing so fast or so slow, this is not a contest to see how fast you can loose. The fact that you went so long without getting a fill and still loosing weight was great. I've had a real problem getting the proper restriction I guess because I have the large vanguard band. I've now had 3 fills and I have 7 cc's and I still only have some restriction. However my doc is going slowly with the fills because It's no fun to be overfilled.

I have to say I would'nt go through with the band knowing what I know at this point. This may change though................ I had a very hard time with the surgery and recouperating and I've been loosing so slowly with the last 2 months fluctuating 5 pounds up and down. Granted this is my fault because I'm not eating properly, I'm grazing a lot and on sweets a lot, but i'm hungry all the time! Now I'm having problems with my port with pain because the last fill I tried to have at the doctors office was a disaster, he couldn't find the site to inject the saline and I almost passed out from the pain of him trying to find it, I was all brused after. Since then I've had the port pain, so now I'm going on Monday to have a fill in the hospital. I hope to get restriction because I have lost all insperation about loosing and feel bad about the whole experience thus far.

I had an appointment today to get a fill for the first time in the doctors office. I was hesitant because the last fill I had at the hospital under the floriscope the doctor had to stick me twice to find the port opening. I remember when I had my first fill (this was to be my 3rd fill) he said "my band was slightly twisted", which he said should cause no problems". I've had no problems so far so I figured he was right. Well today in his office he poked and poked me until I was in amazing pain and I almost fainted (In all honesty I don't take pain well at all). I haven't had a fill since february and I am not loosing weight and now I probelby have to wait another 6 weeks to get another appointment with him because he is so over booked as it is. I feel very sad with the whole lap-band experience from the start and now I'm scared as hell to get another fill.

Dear God, Plz hlp my Reeces addiction
Tootarts replied to mini_me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dear Dear Mini me, A women after my own heart! I too am a Reeses junky................. It's the reason I am so fat in the first place and the reason I can't seem to lose even on the lap band. I found the new thicker reeses with nuts even better than the old standbys too and now there making them with extra peanut butter on the outside instead of all chocolate and they are sooooo good too. I have a serous problem and I need to address it. I'm not the kind of person to just give something up for good, It's like dropping a best friend. So I've incorporated them once i a while in my diet. Otherwise I dream about them and then I go crazy.......... So your not alone my friend. -
I was banded on December 13th and have lost only 30 pounds. I need a fill really badly but my doctor has been so booked that I've had to wait for 2 months so far and I still have a few weeks before my next fill is scheduled. I have to say I am so unresrticted that I am totally blowing it. I think this week I have gained some weight, I'm feeling very discouraged with my band.

I need some help with my hunger.............Im out of control...... Please Help............................................. I had a second fill the first of february and finally felt some restriction with it but it didn't last long enough maybe 2 weeks at the max. My husbands company changed insurance carriers and they don't pay for anything having to do with the lap band (Bluecross and Blueshield Of Florida). So the fills are coming farther apart because I have to pay the 500 dollars in cash. My next date is set for May 18th for my 3rd fill and I'm totally out of control now, yicks! Yesterday I ate soooooo much. I picked at everything in my fridge and cupboards really I did and then I ate one of those frozen diet meals that just teases you with 2 ounces of mashed potatoes and finally finished off my feeding frenzy with a slim fast chocolate bar. I need Help:help: I'm such an addict..............

When I went for my first fill under floroscopy the doctor said My band was tlted but filled me anyhow. When I went for my next fill it was back in the right place. I guess it's quite common and nothing to worry about.

When I first had the surgery I lost quite a bit of weight quickly and then it slowed way down for a few weeks then nothing. I just had my second fill on March 2nd and I lost only a couple of pounds and now I'm at a weight stand still once again. I'm only eating 1200 to 1500 calories. Whenever I went on a 1500 calorie diet pre banding I always lost weight. I really don't know whats up. I was thinking of trying The Nutra System diet for a while. I know the diet works because I went on it a few years before pre banding and lost 4o pounds but I didn't stay on it because I was hungry. I get full easier with the band than I ever had before so I thought that maybe the Nutri System diet would be easier for me to stick to now. Is there anyone with the band on a controlled diet plan? and is it working for you?

I'm so mean! when my son was little I told him that Pop tarts had alcohol in them and they were for adults only. I just wanted them all to myself because my husband didn't like them. My son reminded me of the pop tarts the other day. My food addiction has affected my kids in so many bad ways im afraid.

Formykids, I can feel your pain. I too have had a stand still with weight loss. I was hoping that the fills would stay with me longer but I'm lucky if I get a week of restriction from it. At least like Tryingtolive said "I'll take any weight loss over continuing to gain" I totally agree but I was hoping for huge results after going through surgery.

Kellymoos, I don't know if this helps but when I went for my very first fill my band was horizontal and the doctor said that it can happen and that it usually moves back into place when more weight is lost. When I went for another fill last week it was in perfect position and had moved back. Could it be that you need more time? Maybe more weight loss? I'm so sorry it sounds like youve been through so much. Hope things work out for you.

MelvaD, I am going to be totally honest with you. I am not sure if I would do it all over again knowing what I know now. Of course I haven't had my band that long either. First and foremost I have a very very low pain tolerance. I had a real hard time recovering from the surgery, and ended up taking 3 weeks off from my job. Of course I have a physical job and I knew I wouldn't be physically able to work but I thought I would bounce back better than I did. I also don't think I was totally prepared in my "head" for the sensation of the band. Even though I went through almost one full year trying to get the exceptance from the insurance company and that was so friggin frustrating, I still had plenty of time reading all the posts on this board and talking to a friend I know who had the band and I thought I was ready. The band just plain feels weird to me......... I feel as though I have a pushed up type feeling on my esophagus. It doesn't hurt it's just there and it doesn't feel "normal". The doctor told me that it's very normal to have this sensation and that eventually I won't even notice it being there. I do kinda wish now I would have tried Nutra System or some strict diet program just one more time. I did go on a counting calories diet on my own in 2003 and lost a little over 50 pounds but my father passed away in 2004 and I put it all back on. OK........This is the flip side to this whole thing.....I've lost 29 pounds since December 13th! And since my 2nd fill last week I haven't been as hungry as I was before. I guess time will tell for me. If I loose 100 pounds and my feet feel better and I feel healthier it would be worth it I guess, but at this point....No.

Senorita, My first fill was 3cc's I have a van guard band that holds 10 cc's and I could eat anything after that fill. I lost only 2 pounds in a month, talk about discouraging. I was just filled last week another 1.5 cc's and this time I have some restriction and have lost 2 pounds already. The doctor told me that he has to fill in increments because everyone is different and you don't want to be too tight and have to be unfilled, so that's why they do it slowly. I too have to pay cash and my doc charges 500 dollars...........So I know your pain!

Dear Strawarts, I have never PB like you were explaining and I hope I never do but I did have a horrible sortof like heartburn and slimming when I drank only 1/2 a marguerita at a nice restaurant and was in the bathroom for 15 minutes, that was fun. I think maybe the achohol and sour mix combo could have been the culpret. So Sorry to here your experience..............

I am so thrilled with your story! I have dreams of fitting in the size 14 dress let alone a 12! I would be swirling and twirling in the dressing room too. I'm so excited for you............. -
Dear Jonathan, I'm so sorry for your situation. I do agree with DevilMayCare that some of us here may face the same situation you are in now some day. I have such a hard time with any type of surgery (I'm a big baby). If I was in your shoes I believe I would want only one surgery and have the Van guard band replaced with the old slipped one. I totally rulled out the RNY because of the whole re-routed intestines thing, just thinking of that makes me shake. I believe that's why most of us here chose to go the Lap-band way because it was a safer proceedure. I wish you soooo much luck in what ever decision you make.
