  1. Well, it is a relief to know that there are more of us out there. I was wondering if my doctor actually did anything, I was out on 3 mile bike ride 4days after surgery. No food or liquid issues, I just decided that my angels were working overtime. Best wishes to everyone, continue to enjoy all the wonderful blessing you have been given.
  2. My girly friend had the Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass, 3 years ago. The extracts was something she used to change up her protein shakes.

    Quick question?

My doctor required me to lose 10% of my weight prior to surgery.
  4. Try different extracts, chocolate and coconut extracts added to vanilla shakes taste pretty good, also almond is tasty ora rootbeer float by adding rootbeer extract. Find a few different ways to make your shakes,so you don't get board and so you won't feel limited. Best of luck to you.

This really a learning process, if we all knew everything and were such health freaks. We would not be on this support page. Whether you have had the surgery or your surgery date is coming up. You are still learning and trying to figure out how to make this change in your life. The reason so many diets don't work is because you are restricted from some of your favorite food. Like this surgery you are also restricted but now you are physically restricted if you, aside from throwing in the towel and regretting your choice to have tge surgery. Find alternate foods & beverages that you can have, and so be it; if it is diet soda, if your new tummy can handle it... go for it. Make sure that you get the appropriate amounts of required fluids not including your soda in to that total, but make this life change tolerable. were human some of us also need to learn our own lessons and sometimes it is the hard way, we are not throwing away a 40k surgery we are learning how to eat again, without punishing ourselves.
  6. Good luck to you also. Just wait until you go shopping and overwhelm yourself with all the cute clothes you get to buy. Enjoy the beginning of the new you.

Against my doctors orders, I had my first Dt Mountain Dew 2 weeks post-op. Opened the can and let it sit in the fridge over night. I still take little sips no issues so far. I have been able to drink from a can and bottle without letting it defizz, for the last week. Keep in mind everyone is different, its what your new tummy can handle. I have literally had no issues with any of the foods or beverages that should have had me bellied over.
  8. Also. .. go easy on yourself. It will get a little easier everyday. just get your fluids in and everything else will fall in to place. i spent the first week waiting for horrible issues, stressing about protein and wondering how I was going to do this and get as much nutrition as possible. One Step at a time, one day at a time.
  9. I am just finishing up week 4, I was in your shoes 3 weeks ago. My doctor told me to get whatever protein in that I could, But liquids were the most important in the beginning. I found my protein shakes at Target ADVANTEDGE CARB CONTROL SHAKE Ready to Drink protein shake. They taste the best, after spending close to $400.00 on others. Wishing you the best in your new journey, congrats for making it this far. We made tough choices and we will only get stronger from here.
