    10 week plateau anyone?

Thank you. Three weeks? You must have been going nuts! I'm at about 2 and wanna just go back down under 600 cal but I know that won't solve any problems.
  2. I'm at just over 10 weeks and nothing. I'm stuck at 38 lbs. increased my working out, and even my calories, as my nutritionist said I should (was barely getting in 600 before) I'm trying to get the liquid in...and have been snacking on raw veggies, to get everything "moving along..." Any other advice? This is normal from what I've read. I am such a "now" person, though, that every time I stall I get frustrated and lose faith!
  3. Just click the link for the recipes sir

    Need a little encouragement.

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to hear. Especially having done this before... I need people to remind me about the marathon...I'm innately a "sprinter"
  6. I'm 7 weeks out and eating LESS than 600 cal a day (not always on purpose: I have 4 jobs which are night AND day jobs so my sleep sched is always messy so I sometimes forget to eat after coffee) and I'm stuck on 30 lbs. not complaining. I'm trusting the process...it's just that I can barely get the 600 cal in as is and I'm working out at least 3-6 days a week. Am I crazy? Isn't it supposed to be coming off faster? Total time with pre op shake diet is almost 9 weeks. Anyone else experience a slow weight loss (in "sleeve weight loss time")?

    Need a little encouragement.

Thank you for your replies. I know that my age (42) has a little bit to do with it so thanks for the heads up on that (I did this once before and lost over 100 lbs on my own thru diet and crazy amounts of exercise but I was 32-33) it just feels like I'm eating SO little; I was probably up to about 2000 cal a day before. I'm just venting because if I knew the proper solution to accelerate my loss, I'd apply it!
  8. Been doing everything right. Today marks 3 weeks since surgery. Down 19 (that's with the 4 lb pre surgery shake diet loss) I just feel like it should come off FASTER. my dr seemed pleased. I've been at the gym 19 days straight. Not having more than 800 cal a day. Why isn't it falling off faster? I KNOW it's going to slow down as I get closer to my goal, which is why I assumed the first 30-40 would be quick! Am I a freak? It doesn't hurt in my stomach when I'm full anymore. Could it not be working? Sincerely, a neurotic Jew.

    Need a boost

How sweet of you to be so supportive and you're pre op! I know. I have taken myself OFF the scale (plus need a new one. Not a supermarket digital special that changes my weight depending on where I place it on my slanted hardwood floor....Manhattan is ROUGH kids.) I'm allowing myself to just feel the improvements in my body, however slight they are for now. End of this week I can go to strength training which should help. Best of luck to you and congrats!

a freak? Come on now. If I wasn't a freak, I'd never make a living!

    Need a boost

Thanks everyone. I just needed that. I know that a healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week which I fully expect in the coming weeks...I am just being impatient. I've done this before and lost a lot quickly, but was miserable. I guess I should just enjoy this new ride where it's much easier this time to lose weight. Thanks for the reality check guys!
  12. Ok, some of you may know me by now (former biggest loser winner) and I'm doing EVERYTHING right. Had my surgery 8/15. Lost 6 lbs prior and 7 lbs post. Scale has not MOVED in 5 days. It's been 3 weeks since I started my "diet" and have not drank, have not had more than 650 cal since the surgery, am trying to hydrate and have been to the gym 10 days straight power walking for 45-60 min daily. As twitter would say: W. T. F. ?? I am 42 and know that metabolism slows, but I assumed it would come off quickly in the beginning. I did this so I wouldn't HAVE to spend 4 hours in the gym. I'm VERY happy with the feeling of fullness and satisfaction with such little and low fat food. And thrilled that I'm not craving carbs. But why won't the weight drop? Am i in starvation mode? Anyone else experience this? Thanks in advance, The frustrated comedian.

    STUCK TOO SOON

Thanks guys. I appreciate hearing this. It's weird bc it's only been two weeks since surgery but three and a half since I started my shakes prior to surgery. Hoping it's the same type of deal. Thanks for the insight!

    Today is the day!

Hey guys don't know if you have Duane reades or cvs or vitamin shoppes where you live but I got these great protein "shots" they don't taste great but they are only 3-4 ounces a piece. The thinner ones are about the size of a five oz energy and have 28 gm protein and the larger ones from vitamin shoppe are whey protein shots and 42 gm protein each. I HATE the isopure. If you're gonna have to have something gross at least make it a smaller amount!

    STUCK TOO SOON

Thank you. Sometimes I forget. Unfortunately my surgery was done by the BEST in NYC and his nutritionist is barely available. AND she deals w so many patients she has pat answers for everyone. I can actually tell that they are generic. Kinda think she's only in it for the money. I had a great education w the organic NUT on biggest loser so am well versed in knowing eating more sometimes aids in weight loss. As for giving myself a break. The good news is I feel so good and recovered it's hard to believe my tummy is still swollen. Thanks for the reminders guys!
  17. Oddly enough I bought the canned chicken and mixed it w mashed potatoes. GROSS. used to love mashed. And I love chicken. Couldn't tolerate turkey meatballs either. I could taste the gameyness of the meat. I did have veggie meatballs from trader joes. Threw em in the processor w tomato sauce. Then melted Lo fat mozz over it. 160 cal 14 gms protein. Was like a meatball sub w no bread!
  18. So I just started puréed today and I still have had less than 600 cal all day but since I tolerated it so well I continued to have broth and small 2 oz snacks of tomato soup through the night. Something about it made me feel like old habits (constant eating even though tiny portions) also I didn't feel that FULL feeling when having liquids. ( i did with the purées) is this normal? Is this ok? Will I still lose weight? Tune in tomorrow Or just tell me this is all part of it tonight Thanks in advance.

    Scared

I don't want to identify myself YET but let's just say I was on a certain reality show and won money for losing weight on my own. That was 8'years ago. I kept it off for about 5 but then had surgeries and was severely anemic. That coupled with another issue and I gained a bit back. I'm super short so I decided to give myself this gift. I shouldn't HAVE to work out 2 + hours a day to maintain weight loss. I don't even eat poorly. Just too much of the healthy stuff. (Pretty certain my body believes it's a 6'7" NBA player) in any event my surgery is tomorrow and I'm terrified. There's nothing I hate more than throwing up. Tell me I'll be ok. Thanks in advance.

What wonderfully intelligently crafted responses! This was definitely the right board for me. Yes. It's true. Nothing can be believed on tv. Since I'm a comedian and an actor i actually "did" the show just to further my career. The way it happened, I got exactly what I wanted. I now work in television and support myself almost Solely as a performer. When I did the show, the entire time I kept thinking: this is just for now. Once I'm done, I'll eat whatever and do whatEver. Fortunately or unfortunately (She says wryly) I fell in love with the way I felt and looked. And for those of you embarking on this now, you will too! The spring in my step, the ability to BEND, to look at the small middle seat on a subway and say: I'm gonna fkn sit there BECAUSE I CAN WITHOUT MAKING ANYONE LEAN. Well, that and the potential of increasing my lifespan, those factors brought me here: to a place where I decided to permanently "adopt" the lifestyle I formerly fostered. Thank you for your support. And excited for the rest of you as well. Ps. I've already saved about $500-700 this week in food and booze NOT ingested (I live in manhattan so it's all relative)

FYI I was on the biggest loser, and not only is it unrealistic, but the "magic of tv" makes things worse. A "week" can be anywhere from 10-21 days, and know that most of the former members have put all of it back on. I actually was one of the few who kept it off for over five years (which I was told was the mark for having changed for good) and then, well, life happened. Anemia, fibroids, and another ailment prevented me from working out the requisite 90-120 min a day I was for MAINTENNANCE. To be honest, I'm thrilled it happened. This surgery is making it so I can lead a normal life. Exercise? Yes...but it doesn't have to consume 1/3 of my waking days. And if you want to know the truth, I lost all of the weight on my own to begin with. I have a good handle on nutrition, so that's the one thing the show DID do for me.
  22. Thanks! That's super helpful. I'm finding less restriction when drinking (diet snapple, thank gd!) than when I'm having my purees. In terms of late night...I WAS full then after midnight my tummy grumbled and complained a lot. Problem is, half the week I'm awake til 4am for work. Guess I'll just have to play it by ear!!

  24. My recovery has been fairly smooth and uneventful (considering the last time I lost weight the nation was watching) but just wondering: I have 1 oz every 20 min (while awake when I can) and no matter how slowly I ingest, I always seem to feel pain (very much like when you have a large gulp of extra fizzy seltzer and you have that gas pain in your belly til you burp) it subsides eventually but is this normal? Will it subside eventually? Just asking bc I'm supposed to transition to purée next week (very small amts) and imagine it will be even more painful. But I NEED to. There is only so much vitamin water whey protein and miso broth a soon to be former fattie can stand!
