    please tell me the truth

I had been wondering the same thing about pizza...if we can ever have. My friend is 4 months out, she has 1 slice. I then found all the Gastric Bypass recipes on pinterst. As others have commented, many do them on wonton wrappers or low carb torts. I'm still in pureed stage but once I get there, I know I'll use those alternatives
  3. I am wrapping up my puree foods stage. I gotta say "creativity" is tough for me but my go to's are: Cottage cheese with pureed canned pineapple (the "no sugar added" can). I scoop maybe 2 tablespoons of the pineapple mush on top of 3 tblspns cottage cheese. Another common one I do is instant mashed potatoes with a scoop of cream of chicken soup on top. Swear this pretty much tastes like gravy :-)

Hello - so awesome that you were just posting an update about the support group. I was just online searching when the next one is here at my hospital. I have not been to one yet (10 days post op) but really wanting to do this RIGHT and make it successful. I'm still on puree foods (til 11/25) when I have my 2 week check up. Since surgery day I have lost 10 pounds and feel really good. Hoping the transition to soft foods goes well and that I stay in control. As I go through this journey I am finding more and more that I have quite the relationship with food. Use it for companionship, entertainment, coping with stress, to celebrate things. Working on that now....figuring out replacements, etc.

Had my surgery Nov 10th, yesterday. I'm doing awesome, minimal pain, have been up on my own the first night, drinking water and no nausea!
  6. I'm today (Nov 10th) as well. Not til later in the day, need to be to the hospital at 11am. Thinking of you, hoping all goes well. Stay strong and let us know once you're feeling better and able to post. I won't be far behind you!
  7. Hello!!! I am scheduled for TODAY....November 10th. AH! So much excitement, nerves, unknowns. I've been on the 2 week liquid diet (1,000 calories or less) and dropped like 14 lbs from it. Cannot wait to make it to the other side. Have a great day - I hope too as well!
  8. My surgery is on monday (Nov 10) as well, dan! Cheers to a great monday!
  9. Oh THANK YOU for posting on this. My husband started out by "going to do the 2 week liquid diet with me". That can't and doesn't last. I even asked him to go back to eating so that one of us was in a normal state of mind for our kid. But up to 3 weeks before my surgery date, I still had not told my Dad. As everyone on here has said - it's a mixture of reasons and fears. As days went by I expressed my hesitancy to tell my Dad. Finally one night he just yelled out "JUST TELL HIM - GOD!" Naturally, I shut down. I did tell my Dad. And ever since then (about a week or so) my Dad is well, reacting somewhat how I feared. A mix. Ugh. I don't think anyone understands unless they have been through this. There's just no way.
  10. Oh Shellbell - yes, I had a case of the "lasts" but what was awful is that it didn't really start until AFTER I began my 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Prior to it I thought oh yeah, this my last Caribou coffee...or this is my last Buffalo Wild Wings. But I didn't really give it much thought. 3 days into the liquid diet I found myself obsessing over wanting just one last time with a chipolte burrito, one last time with a great Pasta dinner. I think it's totally normal. I see your surgery date was yesterday - how did it go??
  11. I know what you mean, wanting to cut the taste of sweets. I'm allowed broth and it very much does what you say. Odd suggestion but maybe try heating up water or the flavored water so it will seem like tea? You CAN do this. Yes, I hear all sorts of variations from different surgeons. My best friend had this in July at another hospital but same network. She only had to do liquids a couple days before. However, she was also constantly scared that last week about gaining weight. I knew, going on 2 week liquid, there's no danger of that :-) You've got this - you can do it!
  12. Dabliss - how are you doing now with the liquid diet? I'm on Day 6 and still hanging in there. Found that I DO NOT like the GNC powders or any powder I mix, I seem to be partial to the already mixed stuff like EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control. Good luck with it all, take care!

    Anyone from Minnesota

Hello MBrinMN - is this group still going on and still meeting? I am right in the cities but I don't mind venturing to the suburbs now and then. Would love to meet others. I am now on my liquid diet and surgery is November 10th - creeping up fast, getting nervous!

    Anyone from Minnesota

Hi Fawn, I'm in South Saint Paul. That would be so wonderful to meet up with others who have done or are going through this journey. This website has been a lifesaver as I get closer and closer. Thank you!

    Anyone from Minnesota

I'm at Abbott Northwestern. I didn't know they did the surgery at Methodist - I work not too far from there at all in Eden Prairie.
