My Name is Brenda Evans age 41. I am Newly married July 13th 2014. . My new Husband and I are going through this journey together. We had our initial visit at the bariatric center in May of 2014. At the same time we were preparing for our wedding, now that we are back from our honeymoon we are ready to really prepare for this surgery. I am starting this thing at 370 and my Husband Edgar is 325 pounds. I am scared and excited.
I have been BIG my entire life. when I was in dance classes when I was 5 my mother had a hard time finding the dance outfit big enough to fit me.
At 17 I was in a car accident I sustained many injuries some of which continue to be an issue including abnormalities to my left hip and knees. this limits my ability to exercise as I have gained weight.
In my 20's had had a huge 100 pound weight loss with shear determination and bike riding/ walking. it was the time in my life I felt the best. I regained slowly and settled at about 250 for many years.... until after my divorce from my first husband. In the following 1 year time span I literally gained 100 pounds.
Despite many many tries I have never been successful at losing this weight. While I have accomplished many goals I have set for myself. I realize sometimes it takes what God has set before you to achieve what needs to be done. In this case that is Gastric Bypass.
Today My Psyc evaluation is due to be completed. that is the last hurdle. Then comes insurance approval for surgery, pre surgical testing and then Surgery... This could happen as quickly as 3 weeks and as long as 2 months. I have been reading, watching you tube and visiting this sight and talking to many who have had the surgery before me. While this is not.... NOT the easy way out I am ready to give it a try.
