Post Op NSAID replacement?
sunflowerchild replied to Cheryl Smith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Voltaren (sp?) is a topical NSAID. I personally didn't have any relief from it but my situation is different from yours so you may have better luck. -

Cauliflower Mashed "Potatoes" 1 lg head cauliflower 5 lg cloves garlic Salt & Pepper to taste 2 tablespoons grassfed butter (or butter substitute) ¼ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg Fill up a large pot of Water with a couple of inches of water. Set burner to high and place steamer insert into pot and put on the lid. While waiting for the water wash and trim the cauliflower and cut up the florets and the stem. Peel the garlic and slice the cloves (the pieces don't need to be perfectly even). When the water boils, toss in the stems, half the florets, all of the garlic, and a liberal amount of salt. Next, add the rest of the cauliflower, more salt if you like, and put the lid back on. Steam until soft, about 10 minutes. It's best to make sure this is more overcooked rather than undercooked or it won't turn out smooth. Drain in a colander. Put it in a food processor and add the pepper, nutmeg, and butter. (Note: if you don't have a food processor you may be able to use a blender, I cannot vouch for this method though). Process until smooth. PS this reheats well in the microwave if you decide to make ahead. -

Something I posted on another similar topic... "For my 2 week pre and post op I made my own Popsicles using vitamin water zero. I also made my own jello using Kool Aid packets and Stevia. Google Kool aid jello and then just substitute stevia for however much sugar the recipe calls for. I also made my own pudding using Greek yogurt (check what sweeteners in ingredients) and unsweetened cocoa powder. It's more work than just buying everything pre made but it was worth it for me."

One month after my surgery I also broke out in a mysterious rash. Mine was on my entire body, I also swelled up really bad, and it appeared overnight. The only thing the doctors knew for certain was that it was something I ingested because of how it was laid out over my whole body (eyelids, palms of my hands, back, legs, you get the picture). I hadn't started any new food because my diet post op was the same as my pre op diet. They never could figure out exactly what it was but a couple doctors told me it was most likely Serum Sickness in response to an antibiotic I was given during the surgery. Here's what it looked like It eventually just went away after about 2 weeks but I was crazy miserable the whole time. The doctor had me take a combo of otc meds that seemed odd but appeared to help, I believe it was Zyrtec and Prevacid. They did initially give me a 3 or 5 day course of steroids (with approval from my surgeon) which initially seemed to help but overall didn't seem to make much of an impact. Anyways might be totally unrelated to what you had but just wanted to let you that you're not alone

Artificial sweetners?!?
sunflowerchild replied to twinmomC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure if you're saying you are or are not okay with stevia but that was the only "not sugar" sugar that I have done since surgery. For my 2 week pre and post op I made my own Popsicles using vitamin water zero. I also made my own jello using Kool Aid packets and Stevia. Google Kool aid jello and then just substitute stevia for however much sugar the recipe calls for. I also made my own pudding using Greek yogurt (check what sweeteners in ingredients) and unsweetened cocoa powder. It's more work than just buying everything pre made but it was worth it for me. Plus it's only a few weeks and then you should never have to do it again -

Not sure where you are located, but have you considered having her try cannabis for the nausea? May be worth a shot. -

Dumping syndrome?
sunflowerchild replied to eyhornmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does it have dairy in it? Could you be having an adverse reaction to the lactose? Maybe it's possible you could be confusing dumping with a lactose sensitivity. -
2 Days Post Open Severe Nausea
sunflowerchild replied to ssourgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She needs to contact the doc as soon as possible and if she can't reach him go to the hospital. Extreme nausea and extreme pain is not normal. -
Fairlife product 19g protein
sunflowerchild replied to sunflowerchild's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
It's not added protein. The ingredient list is shown in the picture I posted. The way they process the milk is what does something to the protein/sugar/lactose. -
Swimsuit online? Where?
sunflowerchild replied to Nevermind's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
https://www.victoriassecret.com/swimwear/bikinis/cropped-top-beach-sexy?ProductID=228810&CatalogueType=OLS I got this top in a size Medium. It is tight enough that it pushes them in and up, my breasts aren't particularly perky and I never wear a bra without an underwire. https://www.victoriassecret.com//swimwear/high-waist-more-coverage/high-waist-bottom-beach-sexy?ProductID=169012&CatalogueType=OLS&search=true These bottoms I got in a size Medium, very flattering in my opinion and hit you in the right places. The other suit I got in their store during their semi annual sale and is just a regular underwire top that looks like a bra except the back is closed with strings not a clasp so you can make it extra tight. I get emails from VS and they have been running free shipping/returns with a swimsuit purchase on and off for the past couple weeks so it might be worth a shot. I know you can also search for tops by bra size. Be sure to read the reviews and that will help you determine if other busty women have liked the product. Also from experience I would not recommend looking at plus size bathing suits (I'm sure there could be an exception though). When your cup size is large and your band size is small it is not normally classified as being plus size. I tried to look at places like Torrid and whatnot but their smallest size is for a size 12. -

Swimsuit online? Where?
sunflowerchild replied to Nevermind's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a 32 DDD and a size 8/10 on the bottom. I just got two bathing suits from Victoria's Secret. The key for me was to get a top that is completely adjustable around so that the cups would be big enough but the around part could be as tight as needed. I also got a crop top bikini top which doesn't have underwire (has soft cups) but still feels very supportive and is comfortable. I can try and find the links if you're interested. -
Is a URINE test done BEFORE surgery?
sunflowerchild replied to x0CheekzVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually wound up doing a blood test rather than a urine test because I was dehydrated and couldn't go. But yeah they did test for pregnancy
