Nope they are regular length but they are skinnier at the bottom so I would just cuff them and they still looked cute -
Asking all you post sleevers: What do you wish you had known or done before surgery?
sunflowerchild replied to Sydney Little Merlette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had known that dropping a large amount of weight in such a short amount of time would be so emotionally taxing. In the beginning I found myself getting very angry or sad for no apparent reason. I felt like A crazy person because I didn't understand why I was so emotional. -
I broke out in hives 1 month after my surgery. They never found out for sure what caused it, but it was suspected that I had a serum sickness like reaction to one of the antibiotics my surgeon gave me when I was under anesthesia before he did the surgery.

1st appointment questions
sunflowerchild replied to MichelleTN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I asked my surgeon: What is your complication rate? What is the most serious complication you've encountered? How many surgeries have you completed? What will the scars be like? -
My philosophy is that no food (that I can physically tolerate) is completely off limits; this is how I hope to stick to my plan unlike every other diet. With that being said there are two reasons froyo may not be the best choice. It is considered a slider which means you'll be able to consume more of it in one sitting. Second unless you get sugar free you are putting yourself at risk for dumping which sucks. Personally I have eaten a couple of bites of froyo and been fine but some people getting triggered by foods like that and are better off avoiding them all together. Overall I'd say it should be a decision made by you based on what you know about yourself while also taking your NUTs opinion into consideration. Hope this helps.

Time of the month
sunflowerchild replied to xojessny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From my knowledge, there are a few variations of Midol; some are NSAID and some aren't. This can easily be found out by checking out the bottle when you're at the store. I believe Pamprin is an NSAID but again most of the meds say right on the bottle very clearly if they are an NSAID. Hope this helps. -
Insurance Approvals / Technicalities for Low BMI Bandsters?
sunflowerchild replied to gin765's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In my experience, yes, Once the insurance company approves you, yes you can drop below the qualifying weight (assuming your dr will still do the surgery). I was at 34.8 BMI (w/1 co morbidity) and was lucky enough that the office staff got the insurance to approve it. By the time I had the surgery my BMI was around a 33.8 -
My doctor said the avg weight loss for a sleeve patient is 60% of their excess body weight.

Hernia repair during surgery
sunflowerchild replied to Vsglady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They knew I had a hiatal hernia before surgery after an endoscopy. The doc said he'd wait until during the surgery to determine if he would repair the hernia (depending on how large it was). -
What’s a 38 year old girl with a BMI of 36 to do?
sunflowerchild replied to gin765's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It all depends on your insurance and what your surgeon is willing to do but personally, I qualified for the vsg with a BMI of 35 and GERD. My BMI actually dropped to 34.8 and I was really worried I wouldn't qualify because 35 was the cut off but my doc fought the insurance company for me and I qualified. Yes, it was awkward going to the group requirements feeling like people were judging me. I just kept telling myself that I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to get this done before I am older and before I have way more weight related complications. -
Dropping below 40 BMI before surgery
sunflowerchild replied to almitch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends which weight the doc office submits to your insurance company. For me, I was weighed 1 month out at my 2nd nutrition appointment and that was the weight they submitted. -
Introduction and question
sunflowerchild replied to meps413's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 5 weeks out right now and I would feel very uncomfortable having a drink at this point. I had some liquid NyQuil (which contains some alcohol) about a week ago when I was sick and it burned in my stomach after I took it. Being so close to your surgery date I would think it could be dangerous because you could still be healing. It might be a good idea to ask your NUT because everyone's plan is different and everyone heals at a different pace. -
Let's talk about NSAIDs
sunflowerchild replied to snowkitten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given IV Toradol in the hospital after surgery -
I actually had everything I needed but I was most happy that I brought pajama pants (loose) to be worn for walking the hallway and so I wasn't so cold in bed and also that I brought my own pillow (hospital pillows just aren't the same). Would also recommend chapstick, hand sanitizer, comfortable loose clothes for the trip home, pillow to hold on stomach for car ride home.

Any one used Naveen Bellem in NJ?
sunflowerchild replied to Marielbx's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had surgery with Dr Ballem about 4 weeks ago. No complaints with the doctor or anyone on his team. Do you have any specific questions maybe I could answer for you? -
My NUT said once we are allowed regular foods (4 weeks out for us) it is fine to have one cup of coffee a day. This is just what my NUT said and I would certainly recommend checking with yours because there are drastically different rules from doc to doc. I tried some coffee recently (4 wks out) and it wasn't irritating, I was fine. I didn't have a full cup, probably only like a 1/4 of a cup.

SCARED!
sunflowerchild replied to Thinkingthinner1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First you'll have to dissolve the jello powder in boiling water (only use 1/2 the amount of water) then mix protein powder with the other 1/2 of room temp water. Wait like 5 minutes or so for the boiling water to cool and then combine. It's important to do it this way because the protein powder will clump if the mixture is too hot. -
I'm cleared for normal eating now so I don't know how much I can sympathize with the food thing. Have you tried the ricotta bake? That was one of the best things I had on my previous stage. I also really enjoyed turkey pepperoni baked with mozzarella cheese (obviously make sure you chew very very well). I also found some really great recipes online that you can make with Greek yogurt.
