What's with all the "diet" food?
sunflowerchild replied to lgrey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was being completely sarcastic. Sorry if that didn't translate well haha! I completely agree. If anyone is on this site taking any members word as bible then they are the one with the problem... Not the people who are just talking about their own experiences and what's worked for them. -
What's with all the "diet" food?
sunflowerchild replied to lgrey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Maybe everyone should just put a disclaimer on the bottom of every post they write saying "this is my opinion and I am not a doctor" just to clarify. This way no one will be confused or misunderstand who the advice is coming from. -
IT'S A WAITING GAME & I DON'T PLAY WELL
sunflowerchild replied to GEAUX SAINTS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before you know it this will all be a distant memory. I was sleeved in July and its crazy now to think about all the stressing I did pre op. It's totally worth it so just hang in there. -
Yup this happened to me in he beginning. I started drinking Gatorade so I could keep my blood sugar up and stay hydrated. It made a huge difference in how I felt.

Netflix what are you watching? Which series do you love!?
sunflowerchild replied to woo woo's topic in The Lounge
Dear Zachary was probably the best documentary I've ever seen. Other memorable ones: the Central Park five, the dark matter of love, the woman who wasn't there, the imposter. -
When will I actually see a change?
sunflowerchild replied to AJP1243's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I needed new pants after losing approximately 30% of my excess weight. I've stuck with the same tops, I'm trying to only buy one or two new clothing items for each size since I'm down another size every other month or so. -
What to take to the hospital.....

There are tons of forums on this topic already. Try doing a search among existing topics for plenty of tips. -

BariatricPal Launching Online Store to sell Discounted Bariatric Nutritional Products ? (Vitamins, Protein etc.)
sunflowerchild replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think it would be cool to have some kind of feature where we can rate the different products that you decide to sell. This could eliminate the need for all of the forums about "what's your favorite protein shake" and "what vitamins do you use". -
You would have to be very careful with frozen margaritas because they tend to be loaded with sugar. Some people can get sick from too much sugar and the loads of sugar combined with the alcohol might be too much.

Search the forums for ketosis. There are a bunch of forums about this. Hope this helps.

I eat a bit of dark chocolate or some of a double chocolate quest bar when I have a crazing for something sweet.

Favorite protein drink?
sunflowerchild replied to Seahawkgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would highly recommend against stockpiling anything. Any protein shake I tolerated pre op I hated post op and I've heard this happens to a lot of people. Keep this in mind before you spend a bunch of money. -
Should I send the hubs home, or have him stay and wait?
sunflowerchild replied to wannaBthinsoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why don't you consider asking him what he wants to do? -

I would be interested in any quest products -
My doctor did not go by the height on my license. I have 5 9 on my DL and they submitted 5 7 to insurance (no shoes on when measured at the Drs office). Maybe that's your Drs policy rather than the insurance companies policy.

This might sound weird but I found that just smelling a food I really wanted helped. I kept craving peanut butter so I would smell it and it made me feel better. Granted, this could have the opposite result and make you want food more... But I figured I'd let you know what worked for me.

What do you snack on if you can't have artificial sweetener?
sunflowerchild replied to Addawn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was in that phase I made my own Popsicles and pudding. Pudding I made by taking Greek yogurt and unsweetened cocoas powder and the Popsicles I used vitamin water zero and Popsicle molds I bought from bed bath and beyond. Hope this helps. -
NSADS and gout
sunflowerchild replied to Countrygrrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask your doctor about Carafate. To be taken before NSAIDs -
Quest bars are the best. My favorite flavors are strawberry cheesecake and double chocolate. You can order a variety pack off of amazon and try all the different flavors before ordering a whole case. I also eat the quest Protein chips. 21 g of protein, 5 g of carbs and no sugar. They don't taste like "real" chips but I like them way more than any Protein shake I ever tried. My favorite flavor is the cheddar.

Does anyone know of a good Protein Shake that doesn't have artifical sweetner?
sunflowerchild replied to Addawn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jay Robb brand is pretty good. -
Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!
sunflowerchild replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You could mix in unsweetened cocoa powder. Or they have these packets at the store in the baking isle they use to flavor frosting (Duncan Haines brand I believe) which you can add to the yogurt, there is very little sugar in the Packets because they are supposed to be added to frosting which has a lot of sugar. Good luck -
Can you really stretch a sleeve?
sunflowerchild replied to fezik23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon actually said that a bit of stretching is natural. He said its normal in the 4-7 month range to find you can eat a bit more than in the beginning.
