Scared...dont wont to chicken out!!! HELP!!!
lap2007 replied to Melodieus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't be scared. If I could do it you can too!!! I got banded on 10/21/08 and I'm glad I did. I waited 1 year because I was scarred. I have not had any problems thus far. There will possibly be a lot of gas on your stomach after surgery, but once you get up and move around it will leave. So far, I am 12 pounds lighter since my pre-op and I feel good. Of course I am sore at the port site. But you must think about your overall quality of life and where you want to be in the future. Good luck to you, and keep in touch. -
I had my surgery on10/21/08 and everything went well. I WAS SORE AND FULL OF GAS AFTER THE SURGERY OF COURSE, BUT WITH THE PAIN MEDS AND THE ICE CHIPS IT WAS JUST FINE. I HAVE BEEN HOME FOR 5 DAYS WITHOUT MUCH TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. I AM SORE IN MY LEFT SIDE, I CAN TELL THAT I GET FULL FASTER WITH LASTING EFFECTS AND I AM 12 POUNDS LIGHTER AS I WRITE THIS REPLY. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SUCCESSFUL WEIGHT LOST AND A NEW ATTITUDE TOWARD LIFE. I KNOW I HAVE MADE THE RIGHT DECISION FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.

Hello Everyone, It has taken me a whole year to make up my mind to be banded. After having other GI problems, losing some weight on my own and gaining it back, I decided that it was time to take control of my life. I was banded on 10/21/08. I also had a hiatal hernia repair-this was part of my problem with acid reflux. Today, I am sore in my abdominal area, but overall, I feel good. And I am ready to begin my new journey in weight loss!!!! pre-op I weighed 297lbs. Today, I'm at 290.3lbs.

would you care to explain how you really feel? how are you adjusting to the eating patterns? what are you eating? I'm planning to have the surgery before the end of the year and I must admit that i'm a little scared. however, i've lost 23lbs. on my own but even I know that eventually it will come back. The problem that I am having is that every doctor that I discuss the procedure with has mixed opinions.
