CPAP - before and after surgery?
Kayzeekat replied to RollingRing's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes!!! I was having problems about four months after my surgery with my CPAP....it felt like the pressure was too high...had to go to doc and have it adjusted...but still had problems...he suggested using every other night and see how I did. I slept great. I haven't used it in over a year...and no side effects like before i was diagnosed with apnea.....I hated that thing but it did help me sleep better....I don't miss it....best of luck to you.... -
Has anyone tried the Monster Rehab? I know they have caffein but they don't have carbonation.
-
I am just over a year out, and yes I still chew chew chew.....it was hard at first, but now it just comes natural. If not, things can get stuck, and it is awful.

Thanks for the info Grace....????

I'm going to try that. It has been just a little over a year since my by pass and and starting to slip back into bad eating habits. I've lost 120 pounds and I feel like I'm at the point where I no longer have a goal to get to so what's the point. I just can't seem to get back on track. I feel like I will always have issues with food. I don't want the food to win. I am very comfortable with my current weight...I think that is part of it. Does anyone else feel like this.........
-
I know how you feel........I even asked my hubby if he knew what day it was on my one year anniversary.....he had no clue. Yes I was a little disappointed. It was such a big day for me.....

It is so weird how your taste changes after surgery. I used to love scrambled eggs....now the thought of them makes me ill....but an egg over easy is delicious. I crave fresh fruit and veggies instead of sweets...and the few times I've tried a sip of diet soda....we'll it's absolutely horrible tasting....can't believe I would drink two or three a day. And I hate plain water.....thank goodness for Crystal Light......

Lesson learned. Surgery date 8/10

I'm a year out and still have issues with that....especially at a restaurant where everyone else is sipping or guzzling during a meal....everything else has become second nature to me, vitamins, chewing well, slowing down my eating...they tell you to drink drink drink your water.....but not at a meal......grrrrrrrrrr...... -
I bought one item, a skirt that I fell in love with and just knew one day I would be able to wear it......I never got to wear it.....i am just over a year out and am starting to buy "new" clothes as I am very close to my goal weight. Up till now I have been shopping at Thrift stores...i couldn't afford to spend money on new clothes I may only have worn for a month or two.....I can pretty much shop any wear now.....and ooh the bargainsI find..... ....before I was limited to the plus size stores....which even on sale were expensive.....

Motorcycling and gastric bypass.
Kayzeekat replied to GAWildKat's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I ride too. I am 9 months out and always have nuts and a protein bar or shake on hand. Just in case they stop somewhere I can't eat. I have a small insulated lunch bag and have taken yogurt and boiled eggs, I put a freeze pack in it and it stays cold. -
Life is marvelous. The only regret I have is I did not do the surgery earlier. My husband has supported me the whole way. He loves that I feel so much better about myself. My friends treat me no different. However, sometimes I do feel that, strangers strike up a conversation with me more than before my weight loss. It may just be me. But I always think, would they have talked to me if I was at my old weight???

All right all you little Skinny Minnies

It is so satisfying not to have to shop at the plus size store anymore. I am almost six months out, and have lost 100 pounds. I have mostly been shopping at Salvation Army and Goodwill. Until I get close to goal weight I can't get myself to spend the money on new stuff if I won't be able to wear it in a few months. I am saving for a shopping spree ...can't wait..... -
I hope you both will feel different once you start to heal and feel better. I am only four months out and have lost 80 pounds.... Feeling fantastic. The only thing I regret about having bypass is I didn't do it sooner. Most of my body aches are gone, back and feet and I can walk without getting out of breath and have tons of energy. Please don't give up, we are all here for you. It is a huge life changing decision. You can't go back.

It's very frustrating. I am four months today...down from 301 to 215. But have been stuck for two weeks. I have been losing steady and now ..zip. I know it will pass. This is my first stall and know it is normal. At my last visit earlier this month doc said if I wasn't hungry, don't eat. Just concentrate on hydration and vitamins....but I am reading about upping calories and protein for stalls...confused. Any input is appreciated....

No health problems apart from obesity, is surgery right?
Kayzeekat replied to Amina's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You will have to make the decision. I chose the bypass because the sleeve is more forgiving with food. You can still eat sweets and not have to deal with the dumping. Personally I knew that would not be good for me. My problem was sweets, now after surgery I do not crave any sweets. Hard to believe but it's true. I will on occasion have a small spoon of ice cream or an m&M or two...but as a treat and then I am happy... -
I had a rough three days to detox from caffeine and carbs. Stopped when I started the pre op diet and after about three days things got better. At four months out I don't crave the diet coke...I've tried a sip a few times and it tastes ghastly....don't know how I drank it for so many years. I still have an occasional drink with caffeine, ice tea or a skinny Starbucks. I don't make a regular habit of it. It is a diuretic....we need yo stay hydrated...

I was lucky, no prob with meds. I take three in the morning, and four at night plus supplements...mine are fairly small except my multivitamin. I cut that in half for awhile but can now take it whole at 4 mo this out. I take about ten minutes to take them...one at a time. I tried to take them all at once a few times but they came back up...so take it slow.

How fast do you drink your liquids?
Kayzeekat replied to brown eyed gal's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I can drink a mouthful without a problem. But no guzzling like I used to. If I do...it is painful. 4 months out. -
I had the same issue...only with one of the incisions. Just left it alone and is now gone. Healed fine, but did tell my surgeon and he checked it...said it was normal.
-
I used to get the same rash...I would take a shower and let it air dry with a fan..then put on calamine lotion and let it air dry....the next day the rash would be gone. I have lost 80 pounds in 4 months and no longer get the rash or have the back problems I used to. Best of luck to you and keep us posted.

I am 4 months out and use the reduced fat wheat thins with tuna. I only have about 4 and they give me the crunch and don't bother my pouch. I also have wrapped my tuna in a huge leaf of lettuce...yummy...
-
I am over two months out and have an issue with chicken...it has to be really moist or it comes right back up. I find the rotisserie chicken I can handle, with the skin removed if course. I really have to chew, chew, chew red meat and it has to be really tender. I only eat it about once every two weeks.

I am just over two months out and have lost 65 pounds that includes 20 pre-op. I was in a 26/28 and now can get into sz18. I find shopping at resale/thrift shops is the best. I have almost nothing that fits from pre-surgery and have purged my closet twice. Until I hit my goal and start to maintain I won't by anything new.

All our post surgery members... what has replaced eating?
Kayzeekat replied to Stacyann81's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Same here, staying busy. I have made a list of things I want to do around the house, I am retired so have plenty of time. The list is long and I can pick, there is always something on the list that I want to do. Also I love to sew, craft and read. I am two months out and have so much energy that going to workout is something I look forward to. I go to Curves and between that and housework I keep moving. You have to find something to replace the food. Planning ahead is crucial. Best of luck to you. -
Dumping vs. Foods Disagreeing
Kayzeekat replied to Sparklingbeauty53's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Respect your pouch. I am two months out and have dumped only once, I ate two cookies. Bad idea. Won't do it again. Within ten minutes had severe cramps and spent a half hour on the toilet. Took about another hour to start feeling right. Chew, chew, chew and eat slowly. I had a stressful week, and was eating to fast and basically was throwing up daily for about four days. Horrible.
