I drink coffee two or three times a week. Decaf is ok, I use Splenda and my splurge is one little thingy of creamer. Same with tea. I don't miss the caffeine...

what did you guys drink on your preop diet? how did you feel? how did you feel the moment before you went into surgery when they put the gas mask?
Kayzeekat replied to Bronxmerci's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
All I remember is being wheeled into the operating room, the next thing I remember is being in my room and they had me sitting up. Lots of pain at first and my hubby said I kept saying "what did I I do, what did I do" apparently I forgot I was in for surgery...very weird. -
Rice, bread, pasta...Big no-no for me. It makes me sick. Every time I've tried it I throw it up. So I avoid it. I can eat the low carb tortillas with no problem. Those used to be my favorites too. Everyone is different.

Buying new sized clothes.....
Kayzeekat replied to gahannagal's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am two months out and have lost sixty pounds, this includes the twenty pre-op. I am down to hardly no clothes and what I do have are getting too big. I have been scouring the thrift stores almost weekly. It takes time because sometimes sizes are mixed, but worth it. I know I won't be in these long so the price can't be beat. I did hit the mall today and found some really good sales so I did splurge...a little. If I find something I really like even though it is a smaller size, I get it. I know it will fit soon. I am so pleased with my loss so far but shopping for clothes right now is not enjoyable for me. It is a chore. I know I will eventually hit my goal and it will be more fun. -
Well. Did that for the first time today, problem was I wasn't hungry, just wanted to taste the food. Well I became extremely nauseated, didn't throw up but was in incapacitated for about an hour with burping and pouch making angry noises of all kinds. It was horrible. I just learned my lesson the hard way. Am four weeks out and won't be doing that again.

CPAP makes me nauseated after gastric bypass
Kayzeekat replied to kedwards1950's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am also having an issue with my CPAP. Have been using it for years with no problems until after bypass surgery. My problem is dry mouth. I have a RAMP on my machine, the pressure is lower for about 45 minutes, then it automatically goes up to full pressure. I wake up about an hour later and am choking cause my mouth is so dry. I turned up the humidifier to the highest setting with no relief. I had the machine checked and it is working fine. They could tell by the diagnostics on the SD card I was not mouth breathing at night. They cannot adjust the pressure without a doctors order. So now I have to see my regular doctor, hoping they can do another sleep study to see if I even still need the machine. -
Went ahead and got my ring re-sized.
Kayzeekat replied to pik's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Mine fell off in the shower yesterday. I hate that I can't wear them but they almost went down the drain. This Tuesday will be four weeks post op. Did not think they would get loose so fast. It used to be I could not get them off. -
I just had my two week follow up and was concerned about eating. I am not hungry at all. My surgeon said thus was normal. So I am continuing with liquids. He said not to eat unless I felt hungry and so far the liquids are satisfying. He said you will eventually start to feel hungry and trying fluids won't be enough. I do have a protein shake and my vitamins. How long has anyone gone on just fluids?

RNY 7/31- Feeling extremely regretful
Kayzeekat replied to jgarcia323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry you are regretting your surgery. There is help out there so please don't delay. I researched for almost three years before I made the decision to have the bypass and three weeks out I absolutely have no regrets. I had many health issues that are going to get better or go away completely which was my main motivation. I have been blessed and had a incident free surgery and a quick recovery. Prayers for you. -
Best thing to do is walk. I got up every night and did rounds through my kitchen, living room and dining room. Hubby thought I was sleep walking the first time he saw me. It does help.

How do I know if....
Kayzeekat replied to katykate94's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take it slow, if you drink too much you will have a vey uncomfortable feeling in your pouch. I did it only one time and felt nauseated. I put my drink flown too between sips. I am three weeks out and and able yo take bigger sips than right after surgery. -
Question about gas...
Kayzeekat replied to Marathongirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh boy do I ever. It's an everyday thing for me. But, I am lucky, it does not smell. It is not painful just annoying. -
Keep walking. I walked everyday since surgery, I am almost three weeks out but at two weeks I was sleeping on both sides in my bed with no pain. I do sleep in a little cocoon they I make with my pillows. I am virtually pain free. I hope things get better for you.

Water tasting funky
Kayzeekat replied to Becky6262's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try Powerade zero. I love it and it does have electrolytes...ok'd by my doc. -
Best to check with your surgeon. I just went for my two week check up and I can start regular excercixe. He did tell me if it hurts, don't do it. You may have to just try and take it easy at first. I'm just walking and going to start low impact aerobics tomorrow. Gonna take it slow.

I'm so tired of puree's I've stopped eating....
Kayzeekat replied to Heather_8.1.14's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well I just had my two week follow up and am doing good. 34 pounds down includes the 20 lost pre-op. Doc told me...no cream of wheat.....it's carbs....eggs, ham, bacon....good. I have tried chicken, just chewed till mashed and it went down ok. Really have not been hungry and doc said that was normal. Listen to your pouch, eventually it will tell you when it is real hunger and fluids no longer satisfy. I felt like I had to eat, because I needed to, not because I was hungry. Feel better that doc said this is normal, now I don't feel like I have to eat, fluids over food right now is best. Hydration is first. -
Need input please. Almost two weeks post op and sleeping is a major issue for me. I sleep fine, but only for about two hours, then have to get up as legs and hips are in agony. Moving around helps, I was having some swelling in my ankles as my surgeon took me off my Aldactone, which was for high blood pressure, it is a diuretic. He felt it would be better since I need to keep hydrated. Can't sleep on my back, stomach or in a recliner. I know this is temporary until everything is healed but sure would like to know how others got through sleeping. Also, my upper butt feels numb...is this normal??

I'm so tired of puree's I've stopped eating....
Kayzeekat replied to Heather_8.1.14's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am two weeks post op tomorrow. After about 10 days I could "drink" another meal. I tried a very small amount of scrambled eggs and had no problem. So moved on to cream of wheat and yogurt and doing good. The instructions from my doctor was after 7-10 days ok to try certain foods. Not thrilled about pureeing foods either. If you chew chew chew think it would be ok. I am so ready to move on and I also think they are a bit extreme with the timing on the phases. But everybody is different. I eat very little, think I am almost afraid to eat that I might gain weight even though I am losing a good amount. I know what you are going through. -
i meed ideas on pre-op diet stuff
Kayzeekat replied to reboundlife2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can have broth and sugar free Popsicles.. It is hard the first three days, I had headaches and hunger pangs big time. But it does get easier, you just have to keep thinking about why you are doing this. It will also prep you for your post op diet.. Once your stomach shrinks from lack of good the liquids do full you up. You can do this. -
Anyone else having trouble eating post-op with others that don't?
Kayzeekat replied to Peggy Jean's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I have to cook for my family, the food smells wonderful and I crave to eat it, but I can't. I made the choice to change my lifestyle, they did not. It is difficult but you have to look at the big picture, look at what you have achieved so far. No one said it was going to be easy. I am 12 days post op and just getting into phase 2. I don't eat with my family, but not because I can't deal with it, it's I'm not hungry. I only sit at the table when I eat. It will eventually change. When I can eat normal food they eat what I cook or get their own. My husband is on board with this, as he would like to start eating healthier too. Please don't get discouraged, you have so much to look forward to. It is a process. What I have done is put all the goodie they like to eat in one cupboard, I don't even open that door. No reason too. I am lucky, they try not to eat the sweets in front of me, which I appreciate. Please don't give up, there is support here always. -
Need AUGUST bypass buddies!
Kayzeekat replied to rhfactor272's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it will go away, keep walking that is what helped me. My shoulder pain was gone before I left the hospital, I was there for four days as low oxygen level and low blood platelets were a concern. Take your pain meds too, I tried to go without mine and it is not worth it. Glad you are home. Everyday it gets easier. -
Trouble with bowel movements
Kayzeekat replied to MaggieAL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad I found this thread. Need some help. I am seven days post op and have not had a BM. I was on a liquid diet prior to surgery with only one low fat carb free meal. There were a few times when I thought I had to go but it was just gas. The gas has subsided and I don't feel like I need to go. What to do..wait it out? Any advice...thanks! -
Need AUGUST bypass buddies!
Kayzeekat replied to rhfactor272's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my bypass on the 19th. Am doing really well. Had to stay 4 days in the hospital as my oxygen level and platelets were low. The worst part was immediately after waking up from surgery...was in so much pain. This was about 10:30 a.m. But in a few hours felt so much better. I actually wanted to get up and walk. It does help. Right now the only problem I have is getting out of bed. I tried sleeping in the recliner...no go. I can get really comfortable, even can sleep on my right side in the bed. Need help sitting up then good to go. -
