    Help I need support.

Alright here's the deal. The weight is not coming off. I have had 2 fills in since my surgery date (July 29, 2005).(4ccs total volumne in a VG band). I eat slow, no liquids with a meal, 1/2 hour before and after, protein first....yada, yada, yada. I have gained weight back, my low weight was 273, I am now 288! My hair is starting to thin and fall out and I am scared. I take Optisource vitamins 4X a day and eat healthy foods. I can eat 2 or more cups at a time and am hungry within an hour. I know I have to work with my band, but I feel like I am doing all the work. I see my dietician Monday Nov 21st, she said if I am still not a loser, she would ask my doc to do another fill. I don't have another "fill" appt. with my doc again until Dec 7th. (He schedules fills every 6 weeks.) Please give me any words or wisdom, advice or whatever you feel is appropriate. Thanks!

Thanks for all the great advice. I just got my third fill today so I am up to 6ccs in a VG band. Hopefully this is my sweet spot. Now back on track and getting skinny!

Thats great Delarla. Kevin has property here in SD and a great casino in Deadwood (The Midnight Star). I must admit he and his buns were pretty hot in that movie.

    Suicidal thoughts with obesity?

I debated for quite awhile before posting here. I answered yes I attempted suicide. (94 or 95 I cant remember the exact date)I was staying with and caring for my grandmother who was dying from breast cancer and dimentia. I was in a bad relationship and the guy was a total user and loser. I also was working full-time and going to college. I thought my only option was to OD on pills and end it all. After taking the pills I realized how self centered I was really being. I called my parents who lived next door and they rushed me to the ER. My stomach was pumped and I stayed over night. Counselors came in the next morning and asked a ton of questions, why, are you going to do it again, do you feel the need to hurt yourself, etc. etc. etc. I told them what I expect they wanted to hear. I knew I could never attempt or even consider suicide again. For years after that I wondered if I had made the right decision in making that call to my parents. Now I realize I did make the right decision. I realize everyday of what an impact I make in people's lives. Not only my family and friends, but coworkers, the mailman, the neighbors, the lady at the grocery store, etc. I realize I have a purpose and a reason and a meaning in my life. I don't know how many times since my suicide attempt that people have told me, "Pam I am sure glad you were here to help me out!" What would have they done with out me. I know God has a reason for me being here and someday, somehow I will put it to good use!

    Midwest ice/snowstorm

Our misery started around noon Sunday. First rain, then freezing rain, then sleet, then more freezing rain, then sleet, then wet heavy snow and blizzard conditions. Temps in the teens and no heat or electricity till late last night. Several tree limbs down, electric wire to garage down, tail light of my PT Cruiser busted out, but we weathered the storm just fine. Some advice to people east of the this nasty, evil storm. Stock up on batteries, flashlights, food you can eat out of the can or box, have an emergency plan, alternative heat source, (other than electric or natural gas), water, money, etc. BE PREPARED for the worst! I grew up in Michigan and lived through some NASTY blizzards, but this one was one of the worst I have ever saw! Best of luck to you all.
  10. I am glad things worked out for you and your sister Penni. I have one younger sister and we get along pretty good. I dont like her boyfriend, but I guess she is the one that has to live with him. But sis and I get along as well as sisters should, probably better now than we have in years.

The Mitchell Meetings are December 8 & then January 12. 7pm at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital Conference Room #1. I think they ask to have you pre-register so there is enough seating. The hospital number is 605-995-2000. Hopefully I can talk Hubby into attending the Dec 8th session and we can meet there. Pam

Do You Ever Wish You WEREN'T Banded?

When I first got banded, I thought what the heck did you do to yourself. But 4 months out I have come to terms with this and realize I made a good choice here. Even though I have not felt true restriction yet, I know I did the right thing. My health is better, I feel better, I look better, (no more jaba the hut)...now just (miss piggy). LOL! But I am happy, getting healthy, and glad I am banded. Plus hubby says I get sexier everyday!

    First PB today

I was thinking I would luck out and never have a PB. Well that came to a screeching halt this morning. I stopped at a local convenience store this morning after work and bought a breakfast sandwich. (English muffin, egg, sausage, cheese.) I work the over night shift and was on my way home. I waited till I got home to warm it up and eat it. Needless to say after two well chewed bites I started to have that pressure. Then the hiccups, sweating and that ugh feeling. Then I belched, some relief...okay I am over it, slow down Pam you will be okay,........then it all came back up. Not as nice when it went down. So our dog got the rest and I was done. No other food problems today, I think I waited too long to eat this morning.

    Gastric Bypass & Pregnancy

I know a lady that had gastric bypass, (not sure what form), but she had a healthy baby boy 2 years post op. I heard you have to wait two years after the gastric bypass, to allow for your insides to heal.

I am walking the floors almost in tears.

Even though I haven't lost that much weight thus far, I would do it again in a heartbeat. A longer life is priceless. I want to live a long happy/healthy life, not crippled by diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and who knows what else lurks below those fat folds. No thank you. I will keep my band, even though I have a rough road ahead and lots of hard work to achieve my goals. I say go for it, what have you got to lose?

    What kind of pets?

I am guessing Fred cam from that old movie with Jerry whats his name and Flash came from the Dukes of Hazard. Ethan was named from the town we bought him in and Harley was named after the motorcycle. I used to have two hamsters named Ford (male) and Chevy (female) they got together and produced a litter of Dodges. I do believe they do only live 2-4 years. Ford used to like to watch TV.

    Outdoor Christmas Decorating Ideas?

My DH and I want to go all out with our outdoor Christmas decoarations this year. Nothing too extravagent (national lampoons christmas) but something tasteful, respecting to the real meaning, plus unique! UNfortunately there is no contest, we just like to decorate for the holidays. We have plenty of lights, a light up santa, light up candy canes, a small nativity set, a light up snowman and a few other odds and ends. Please give me some good ideas! We plan to decorate next weekend after Thanksgiving!

    Is Weight Just a Number?

I didn't notice a change, other than clothes being baggy. Until I watched a recent video tape of myself. I couldn't believe how much smaller I looked! It was definitely an ego booster.
