  1. Basement is done. Oh it looks and smells so much better. I even mopped down there! Laundry is almost finished, last load in the dryer. I still have to bathe the dog. I have already drank 64oz of water, so everything else is a plus....yeah for me.
  2. Today I will: 1. Drink more than 64oz of Water. 2. Get hubby off the couch and we will clean the basement. 3. Get the laundry all done. 4. Give the dog a bath.
  3. Has being overweight made you stronger? Are you emotionally a stronger person or more weak? Do you tend to stand up for yourself or let others push you around? Do you use your weight as a protective shield(to make you appear bigger)? As for me I think being overweight/MO all my life has made me stronger. Not only in the muscle department, but emotionally. Yes I cry when someone says something rude, but I know I am better than they will ever think to be. I tend to stand up for myself and everyone around me. In grade/middle/high school, I always walked away and turned the other cheek. I hated confrontation and fighting. I grew a back bone when I dated my ex boyfriend for 8 years. I learned to say NO and I stood up for myself and told and still tell people what I think. Yes I think I use my excess weight for a shield from problems in my past. I have dealt with those problems/issues and my weight is vanishing. Soon there will only be me and my quick wit and tight butt to protect me. God help me to run if I say the wrong thing! LOL
  4. No junk food so far. Measurements are done too! Yeah!
  5. My goals for today: 1. No junk food 2. Take measurements of bathroom for upcoming remodeling project

Has being overweight made you stronger?

I am noticing that I have less patience with people who are unkind or unpleasant or fake; and as I get older (I'm 50), I am getting choosier about who I spend my spare time with. Emily I totally agree. Life is too short to spend it with negative people.

    Girlie question - please help

I went through the same symptoms and problems for years. During my senior year 1990 I was put on Provera to get my cycles in balance. That worked for about 5 years then the problems came back. Since then I was diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome. (PCOS) for short. I am no doctor but your symptoms and problems point to PCOS. There is tons of info on the net www.webmd.com is a good source. But please get into your Gyno ASAP! Best of luck. If you have any further questions about PCOS please feel free to PM me.

My first infertility APT sucked! (Long)

Bushbaby your post broke my heart! Awe you poor lady! I hate it when true loving kind generous people want babies so bad and can't for some reason have them. Don't give up hope. Stranger things have happened and I know deep down there is a baby or child who needs a wonderful momma like you and a great daddy like your hubby. Keep the faith and best of luck! Oh and by the way as for the rude nurse/receptionist report her arse to the clinic manager, she broke a ton of Hippa laws! Plus that was just plain out RUDE! Someone needs to box her ears!!

    Concerns....???

I am not sure what is going on with my body and my band. I have 6ccs of saline in a VG band. I eat right, exercise and work 40 hours a week. I don't drink with my meals, wait atleast a half hour afterwords. I have some restriction, but not enough. I keep gaining weight, not alot, but too much in my opinion. My period has stopped. I had one like clock work since September of 2004. Now nothing. I took a home pregenancy test negative. (My period should have started around December 1st.) No cramping or anything out of the ordinary, I am puzzled. I know when I was a senior in hs I had to be put on provera (hormone replacement) to regulate my cycles. The doc said I didn't produce enough female hormones to keep my cycle in check. I wonder if there isn't enough of the pregnancy hormone in my system to show a positive pregnancy test. I am contacting my OBGYN on Monday to get a blood test. Anyone out there ever take a home pregnancy test and it be negative and then you were actually pregnant? Any ideas what else could be wrong? Thanks.

    Concerns....???

Just an update: Aunt Flo finally came to see me New Year's Eve. Actually her visit wasn't as bad as I thought. Cramping was awful, but actually it wasn't all that bad. I am glad she showed up, it just isn't healthy to not have a period. Hubby and I still want children, but that is on the back burner until I loss more weight. Thanks again everyone for your support and kind words.
  13. Whatever happened to being grateful for a gift? Isn't it the thought that counts? My MIL is something else. I wish someone would drop a house on her. Okay maybe not that drastic, but she really irks me. She is so ungrateful and doesn't appreciate all of the things she should be thankful for. DH and I married in 2004. For Christmas 2003 we bought everyone in the family a birdfeeder with bird food. (With exception to the children we bought individual age appropriate gifts.) Well my MIL has complained about that "awful" gift since that Christmas. She even gave it to another son. It just burns me she can be so selfish and self centered. I can just imagine what she will say about her gift this year. DH wants to forget gift giving all together next year. I am all for it. Guess what MIL hated the idea! I just don't know what to do with her. She calls all the time complaining about her miserable life and that she never has any money or any friends and no one ever comes to visit. She has two other sons and their families that live here and one that lives out of state. Why must DH and I burden the grief of her self pity? Thanks for letting me vent.

    Pen-pal anyone????

I would like a penpal. I am happily married 33y/o. Hubby and I are owned by a Basset Hound named Ethan. I collect cows, candles, pictures of friends and family, Basset hound items, black lab items, Dale Jarret #88 Nascar items and much more. I enjoy all kinds of music, but country is my favorite. Hubby and I enjoy fishing, camping, travel, touring historic sites, museums, & zoos. We also enjoy reading and watching movies. PM me if you are interested in being my pen pal.

    Flu Question

I had an awful bout with the flu a couple weeks ago. I couldn't keep water on anything down or in. After about 10 hours I was able to keep down saltines and gatorade and then slowly to more real food. At that time I had no restriction. I asked my surgeon about "throwing up" and the band and he said "Once someone has true restriction they are unable to throw up, that is why some people need an unfill or require nausea meds".

Why do you have a scar???

Just tell them you got shot 5 times....okay maybe not a good answer. I guess it depends on who they are and how comfortable you are with them. Some people understand weighloss surgery and what it means to someone who has tried everything else under the sun. Then there are those who think it is cheating or the easy way out. Nothing is ever easy. As they say the truth will eventually come out. JMHO

    Fluid/Water retention?

Thanks for the comments ladies. I have virtually lived on a low sodium/ salt free diet since my highschool days. I always had high blood pressure up until I was banded. My BP is still under control by diet and exercise. I did have some blood work drawn a couple weeks ago and the doc said my sodium levels were actually low. Go figure. I am mystified! LOL. Thanks again!

    Fluid/Water retention?

I have always had a problem with retaining fluid, but up until about a month ago it seemed to stop. Now low and behold the fluid is back. I spoke to my surgeon at my last visit and he didn't seem to concerned. However he did say people retain fluid if their body's are sparse in the protein department. I have upped my protein intake and I am still retaining the fluid. I am following up with my regular doc next week. I will keep you all posted. Anyone else having problems with fluid/water retention post banding? How did you resolve this problem?

    Fills without xray

The first fill I had 6 weeks post surgery was done under Fluro (xray). My surgeon tried like a mad man to locate my port, but no luck. Rather than making me feel like a pin cushion, (yes I was numbed) we did it under fluro. After that initial fill, my surgeon made notes in my file with the location of my port. The last few times it is virtually just poke and go! LOL! Best of luck!

    Please post about your complications

I had some minor infection around my incisions, but that cleared up after using Dial soap and triple antibiotic cream and clean bandages. I also believe my liver was bruised or banged around during my procedure, (it is slightly larger than normal size), lots of tenderness in that area. Other than that so far so great! Best of luck!

    Pre/Post Op Must Have list

Items I couldn't live without after my surgery: 1. heating pad 2. sugar free popcicles 3. prescribed pain medication from surgeon 4. husband's over size recliner (it hurt to lay flat for about 2 weeks post surgery) 5. my husband 6. canned broths, creamed Soups, pudding, Jello, etc. 7. Water 8. new bandages & triple antibiotic cream for my incisions 10. LBT I am sure there are more things, but this is all I can think of right now. Best of luck!

Kidney infection/ Be sure and drink your water

I keep cranberry juice in the frig and try to drink a glass a day to keep my kidneys healthy. My DH had a kidney transplant in 2000, I don't wanna go through that, or be on all those meds he has to be on. UGH.
