I'm done telling folks. They don't get it
blessedin08 replied to wannaBthinsoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here. A select few know that I am going to MX next Monday. My Mother-In-Law just said yesterday..."You only have a few days to back out now....I sure wouldn't want any part of that. I'll just stay fat!" Well, the last time I checked YOU weren't the one going so YOU don't have any input in MY decision. I have gotten both positive and negative feedback from it, but the negative stories always stick out in my mind and make me question everything. Trying to stay positive and keep my faith that everything will go smoothly! But, yes, I agree, don't tell too many people unless you want it to affect your decision. Stay strong! -

Complication Insurance while traveling to MX?

Has anyone purchased complication insurance before traveling to MX? If so, what co. did you use and how much did it cost? Thanks for any advice! -
Complication Insurance while traveling to MX?
blessedin08 replied to blessedin08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, Becca R., does that insurance cover you at all if you come back to the U.S. and have a complication later on down the road? Or, is it just simply while you are there? I am just worried that if something like a leak comes up a month later that my insurance won't cover any hospital stays or anything because I went to MX for surgery. Novamar seems to be a popular one. What surgeon are you using? Thanks for your help! -

I am not sure if this post will be allowed here or not, but I am reaching out for some help here. This is not advertising or spam. I am a "real" person asking for votes. I have struggled my entire life with obesity and I am humbling myself to reach out for help. Asking for help is so far out of my comfort zone! I have entered a contest for a VSG giveaway on Facebook. This surgeon is giving away this surgery as a way to give back to the WLS community. And, they are looking for someone that wants this bad enough to work hard for it! I have done so much research on this for the past two years and I feel that I would benefit greatly from it. I am currently fighting for 3rd place. 3rd and 4th place are so close and I would love to take the 3rd spot! My friends and family have been working so hard to get me to 500 votes, but I am needing a boost to help me generate more "LIKES" (votes). I am just a country girl from a small town in Ohio going up against contestants from large cities in the U.S. and Canada! So, I am asking you all for this help! My insurance does not cover any type of weight loss surgery so this would be a wonderful gift to receive. If you are on Facebook, please read my testimony, and if you feel lead to vote for me, please visit the sponsor page, WLS4 Betterlife and click "LIKE" under my story. Scroll down to "Sherry Burke Lester" and click "LIKE" under my pics/story. You must "LIKE" both my story and their page for your vote to count. If you do not want to receive their notifications, you may block them or wait until Sept. 8th to delete. I have 4 days to go! PLEASE take 30 seconds to help me! And, if you wouldn't mind, please share this with others to generate more! Thank you and God Bless!!! Philippians 4:13 <3 http://bit.ly/FreeSurgeryContest

I need your vote in VSG Giveaway!

VOTING ENDS TOMORROW! Please vote and help me on my journey for this life changing surgery! -
Hi all! I'm a "newbie" here! I just want to say I am so glad I found this forum! I am planning sleeve surgery for this fall in Mexico and so many of my questions have been answered on here. This type of surgery is not well known by my family and friends and this has been a blessing to find! I've struggled since the age of 5 years old with my weight and I am so ready to step out in faith at 35 to have this procedure done! Right now, I am being discouraged when I tell people I am going to Mexico to have this done! I am not fearful at all! Please let me know of any negative things you faced in Mexico that would help prepare me just incase! I have read nothing but positive things and just want to be aware of things that could arise like crossing the border, etc. Also, I have heard from someone that had it done there that the dr. advised her to have her gallbladder removed at the same time to avoid complications later. She had fortunately already had it taken out so she didn't have any issues. But, I was just curious if anyone had this done at the same time they were sleeved and if the recovery and recovery time was any different. If it is beneficial, I may go ahead and have it done the same time. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! God Bless!

Any problems in Mexico?
blessedin08 replied to blessedin08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am considering Dr. Elias Ortiz with "A Lighter me". Haven't heard anything negative on either of these doctors. I have heard the coordinator, Trish with Dr. Ponce De Leon is awesome too! -

Any problems in Mexico?
blessedin08 replied to blessedin08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome! Thank you! I am thinking around the beginning of Nov. That seems to be the slowest time for us at home! I have narrowed it down to two doctors that I've heard wonderful things about. Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Ponce de Leon. I don't think I can go wrong with either of them!
