You will lose more with a sleeve but still need to work at it. The only way to get near guarantee is bypass. You will still have to be careful there but the side affects for bypass we’re not worth it for me. i am completely healthy with the sleeve other than a few extra pounds. This issue with the band is the body really doesn’t want it in there and fights it.
-
For me I couldn’t get the band out fast enough. My kaiser doctors hate them and take them out regularly.

I think the sleeve is far superior to the band. I was have major issues with the band and aspirating at night. I lost a lot of weight but have gained some back due to injuries and not focusing on my diet. i easily drop the weight once committed and am eating right again. I fluctuate up and down about 20lbs. The band for me was the worst thing, and did more harm than good. i do have some reflux issues that I control naturally (ACV).

Not even a little. I had the lo band and it was killing me (literally) I have lost 31lbs in about a 6 weeks. The first week is a bit uncomfortable, bowels are out of wack. Now it's just how life is, I eat less. I can't eat everything, some I don't like anymore. It's normal anxiety. You will be happy, healthier and live longer !

I agree! So glad to be healthy again and like the guy I see in the mirror.

They lasted about a week. I'm all good now, down about 25lbs. I think the teeth thing was the anasthesia

Down 12lbs in 12 days (day of surgery) Dr has advanced me to mushy foods!! Yeah ! Just had 1 scrambled egg, a tablespoon of hummus, both tasted amazing. I was completely stuffed. Current 229 Down from 248 at 8/4

I had a lap band with minimal success. I started that time at 280, went down to about 220 and gained back until about 250. I started having issues with the band and was aspirating, went to dr and my esophagus had dilated , and band had shifted. I had surgery 8/28 and converted to sleeve, I started at 248, and was 236 day of surgery. I'm a week out and have lost 6lbs and feel great. Many of the issue and constant ill feeling are gone. I could tell the difference when waking up in recovery room, I didn't feel like I was being choked by the band anymore.

Have my gun fit in my pants without digging into my side -
Sleeved on 8/28, this procedure surprisingly enough, was far less painful and sickening than when I had the band placed. I woke up from the surgery actually feeling better, I no longer had that choking sensation from the band. I'm bruised up pretty bad and that's all that really hurts. A little sick in the mornings until I drink some Water etc... The acid reducer is key to not getting nauseus, I also take zofran if it persist.

Thanks for the encouragement. The only things bugging me right now are my teeth being super sensitive and skin getting dry patches

I was scared right up to waking up yesterday morning - after surgery. My thought was die early or get the weight off. After it's just about healing and starting a new life! Good luck!

Home today at noon. The pain med in the hospitol are way better! I'm have quite a bit of incision pain, and burping when I drink anything

I had my band removed and sleeved at 7am this morning. Converted to a sleeve. The knotted/ nauseus feeling from the band was gone almost instantly. My 2 cents- if you are feeling generally like crap, like I was the last 2 years Get the band out! I'm drinking broth and eating Jello It took nearly 2 hours but I for it down. Good luck to you ! -

I'm scared shitless My band procedure was very rough. It's normal though, just relax and go with it. As soon as you get the gas it will all be over and you will be waking up. -

The pre-op diets are usually related to the fatty liver. They also function to flush out the system. I am only on clear liquids the day before, I am a revision from a band. I lost some of the weight previously. -

Remember friends, we must change what's between our ears before we can change our bodies. We all got big because of our ability to ignore our common sense -
Glad your on the mend. I opted to convert to a sleeve. To ME the band has not lived up to its promises.
