    Does Everyone Get a "Drain"

    No drain for me.

  4. I agree about the carbs going down easier. I had 1/4 of a biscuit and an egg and the biscuit went down a lot easier than the egg. Just lets me know I'll have to work hard to keep the carbs under control.

    Holiday Challenge!

I'm in Nashville too. You can keep the snow in your area, Susan!
  6. If you live near a Kroger try their Kroger Carbmaster milk. 8 oz. has 11g of protein and 60 calories. Comes in regular and chocolate. It's lactose free and tastes great. I am lactose intolerant too and just started drinking this after my surgery. I haven't had any intestinal problems with it. Now 16 oz. of half regular/half chocolate is my before bed "snack".
  7. I'm on a regular diet now but still have problems with chicken, tuna, and eggs.

    Slow loser in East, TX

I was sleeved 9/15 and am also losing slowly - 16 lbs to date. The scale hasn't moved for me in 3 weeks. Although my doc says I am where they expect me to be, I struggle with the "What's wrong with me?" thoughts. Sooner or later the scale has to start moving again. I'm eating 600-800 calories per day and doing ok getting 60g of protein in but only getting about 55-60 oz. of fluid in. Having a Premier Protein drink helps meet my goals. I'm having a hard time getting any vegetables/fruit in because I'm full after eating the protein. Each week should get better for us, so hang in there.

    Recovery for an RN

I was still wanting an afternoon nap 10 days post op. I went back after 2 weeks off. I'm an informatics nurse so I'm mostly traveling to meetings & carrying the laptop. Not strenuous like lifting patients & doing 12 hr shifts (I don't miss those 12 hr shifts). I could have gone back after a week but I had plenty of vacation time to use & took advantage of it.

    Question for my Postop People:

I'm on regular foods at one month out. I'm slowly introducing tougher meats though. Eggs & chicken are still giving me problems. Continuing with a lot of fish & soups just because they go down easier.
  11. I was sleeved on 9/15 and have stalled for 2 weeks now. Down 16#. Wish it was more, but I'll take 16 versus nothing at all.
  12. Mine lasted about a week and hit between weeks 2 & 3. I was sleeved 9/15.
  13. I was sleeved on 9/15 & have lost 12 lbs as well. I'm also in a stall this week. I'm trying not to get too frustrated about it, but I am ready for the scale numbers to get moving downward. Staying off the scale is so hard though. I'm sure things will get moving next week for us.
  14. I use Bariatric Advantage for my 500mg calcium citrate chewables. Caramel flavor is the only one I can tolerate right now.
  15. I'm on a soft diet also as I go into wk 3 post-op. The things that have gone down the easiest are cheese, Chick-Fil-A grilled chicken nuggets, and sliced deli ham. I've tried scrambled eggs and they cause me a lot of pain, so I'm staying away from them for awhile. A few bites of turkey sausage didn't set well either. Grilled shrimp was ok, but had to take it really slow. I'm trying to stay off the scales daily too - haven't weighed in 3 days. The NP at my doctor's office said they expect the weight loss to be like stair steps with periods of loss and plateaus. Knowing their expectations for success will hopefully help me through the periods of plateau.
  16. I was sleeved on 9/15 too. The refried beans were hard for me too and took a long time to get down. I haven't tried cottage cheese yet. I started soft foods today and had 2 oz. of grilled chicken and 2 oz. of grilled shrimp for lunch and dinner, respectively. I didn't have any problems getting either down except for eating too quickly a couple of times. I was too excited about having something to chew, lol. As far as feeling bad, I haven't gone back to work yet but have been out running errands and doing MD appts the last 2 days. Today is the first day I feel like I'm getting back to normal with very little incision pain. I was ready for a nap around 2:00 though.
  17. I was on pureed as soon as I got home and today, 1 wk post-op, am on soft foods. I pureed a lot of higher protein soups and did some fat free refried beans with low fat cheese. It took awhile to get the beans down but it was good to have something different than soup.
  18. The "hunger pains" is likely acid related. Did you get prescribed Nexium or another acid-reducer? My post-op regimen includes Nexium for at least a month.
  19. Pureed post-op day 2 through week 2. Soft diet weeks 2-4, then regular diet at 1 month for me.
  20. My gas pain is in the left shoulder 3 days post-op. Hurts like hell.
  21. I was sleeved on 9/15 and am taking off 2 weeks since I have the PTO available. I gained 9 lbs after being in the hospital 24 hrs. Lots of IV fluids I guess. I'm trying to stay off the scales again until my post-op appt next week. The gas pain has improved significantly today but hasn't gone away completely. I'm not enjoying the gas pain rising through my chest and out my left shoulder.
  22. Yes, my gas pain is horrible and seems constant on post-op day 3. It rises through my chest and out my left shoulder. Every sip I take brings on a gas pain. I have only had a few waves of nausea. Yesterday I was only able to get 3 cups of water & 1 premier protein drink down. I hope today will be better.
