I can't believe I have finally made it to the point of having surgery. I have been waiting so long! I attempted to do this 2-3 years ago, but couldn't get the 10% weight off to qualify for insurance. With an insurance company change at work this year, I am finally on the road to success. My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 15, 2014 and I'm having a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I have absolutely no hesitation or reservations about having surgery.

I have had a life long battle with weight problems beginning in elementary school. I also have a family history of obesity. My father and my uncle died of weight related issues and I am determined not to have the same problems. My grandmother had weight loss surgery in the early 1980s when we didn't know much about the surgery. She's now 90 years old and has been a great example of how to succeed.
