Good luck to you!! It is a long journey but well worth it in the long run!
-
I had my gastric bypass surgery on July 22nd. I decided to have the surgery due to multiple medical reasons and of course wanting to loose the weight. I got pregnant when I was 18 and have been overweight since. I am now 33 and have 2 wonderful kids. I am married to the most wonderful man in the world and he is the most awesome step father to my kids. They all encouraged me and supported me throughout this process. At 5 months out from surgery I have gone from 280 lbs at my heaviest to 186.2 as of this morning!! I feel like a new person. Just like most everyone I have had some ups and downs but I would make the same decision to have this done if I had to do it all over again. I am so excited to continue on this new journey in my life!!

My highest weight that I have on record is 280 pounds and that was around November of 2013 right when I started my 6 months of classes before surgery. That is 130 pounds lost total so far. Thank you for the post. It always helps to hear positive comments hope your journey goes well!

Update: As of this morning I have officially met my own personal goal of 150 pounds!! I am almost 11 months post op. I am surprised that I have lost the weight so quickly. My family and I have a vacation planned to go to Cedar Point in the near future as a kinda reward for sticking with this. I love roller coasters!! I have attached a couple pics. The 1st is from my bridal shower in 2012 and the 2nd and 3rd are from this morning. Even though sometimes I still see a big person in the mirror I am so happy that I did this and I feel so much better.

The slim fast is great but they only have chocolate for now. I haven't found any other flavors

I hated wearing shorts but I can't wait to show off my new body this year
-
Well its almost time for short season. Had to go and get some shorts and tank tops. I haven't been able to feel comfortable wearing shorts and tanks tops for sooooo long. Now I'm excited for warmer weather. As of this morning I was down to 158.4. I am only 8.4 pounds away from my goal weight of 150 and I'm only 8 months out!!! Of course if I loose more that's ok too.

Thanks!!

Update: As of this morning I was down to 173.4 lbs!! I am 5 1/2 months out. That's 107 lbs from my highest weight. I am loosely wearing a size 14 pants and size large shirt. I haven't worn a size 14 pant since I was 16 years old!! So excited to keep going. Thanks everyone for the positive comments and support. It really keeps me on track.

Thanks!! It is definitely worth it. Hope you have great success with your surgery!

I drink slim fast high protein. They have 20 grams and taste really good. I have some extra skin but that is expected since you loose so much weight. Mine is not too bad though. Exercising is the key. I don't go overboard and live at the gym or anything. My pain wasn't too bad. I was only on the pain meds for a day or two after coming home from the hospital. Just don't get frustrated. There will be times when you wonder if it was the right call to go through with it and there will be foods that just don't agree with you but it is all worth it in the end. I was scared too but I just kept telling myself I am doing this for my health and for my family so I could be the best mom and wife I can be.

Update: This morning I was down to 179.4!! I met my next to last goal on New Years Eve!! This was the goal I made to be happy with my decision to have the surgery (100 pounds lighter). Being only 5 months out I can't wait to see how much more I loose!! Hope everyone has a great New Years and everyone meets their goals!!

I take all of those plus Biotin for the hair. My hair has thinned but the Biotin helps.
-
@"ILO" Good Luck to you too!!!
-
I have not had any problems with my teeth. My hair has thinned but I take a Biotin vitamin every day to help with that. All and all for me the ups and benefits far outweigh the downs. Going through with it was the best decision I ever made. I feel wonderful!!
-
Thanks!! Most of my downs are problems with food. I have problems eating slow enough. Also my tolerance changes all the time. Something I could eat last week makes me sick this week. I stressed too. You just have to relax. Everything will work out. Good luck!!!

Please send me a copy of that list. Mwilson1981@hotmail.com -
Have you eaten fish yet? No I haven't tried fish yet. Not really a fish eater and the thought of pureeing fish is not appealing.

You look awesome!! Great job at all the success! I am 2 weeks post op. I have lost 9 lbs since the morning of my surgery. If you don't mind me asking how long after surgery did you start to really loose weight. I lost a bunch when the swelling started going down but now I am loosing very slowly. About a pound every 4 days. Just not sure what to expect. -
I had my surgery on July 22nd. I've lost 9 lbs since the morning of surgery however I have lost 33 lbs since I began all the pre op stuff. Definitely feeling better. I'm able to sleep in my bed and I am only taking Tylenol for my pain. Nice to read about all the folks who are going through this too!!
