    Unsupportive family

You're a grown woman so do what is right for you. You have make decisions on what you want, not what your family wants or thinks. But when people are not supportive, it can make you doubt yourself. So, if I were you, tell them so you can see what side of the road they are on. If they don't support you, then make it known that you won't be coming around b/c you can't have negativity in your life.

    Feeling so unsure.

Every single person I have spoke to has not regretted it. I think if they are being negative, then you should ignore them. You don't need negative people in your life. Make this decision based on what YOU want, not what others want. But it takes a lot of dedication, promise, & discipline. You have to want it & want to follow the rules. The minute I made the decision to have the surgery, I started changing my habits. My surgery is on Sept 16 & it cannot get here fast enough.
  4. Drink a lot of Water. Skip carbs. Skip snacking. Skip sugar (as much as you can). I lost a lot of weight once I quit carbonation beverages.

    I'm ashamed......

Why would you be denied? If you are having surgery soon, then they should have already sent that to your insurance company for approval. Once you are approved, the insurance company cannot deny you.. Unless you mean your Doctor? I don't get why 4 pounds would make a difference. What are they saying?
  6. I am taking a week. I have a desk job so my Doctor said I should have no issue going back. My surgery is on the 16th, but I will return on the 23rd, but I will be working from home on the 23, 24, 25. My first time back in the office will be the 28th. I was told as long as I got up every 30 minutes to move around I will be fine. Everyone talks about how tired they are, but my Doctor is putting me on a B12 nosespray so I will have a extra 'push' of energy. A lady I work with took a month off, but she said she did that to be safe. Everyone is different.
  7. I was told not to drink my carbs so stay away from any coke/pepsi products & I have. Since then, I lost 10lbs. I drink Water & flavored water with no sugar. Sorry, but I would stay away from there, but up to you.. GOOD LUCK!
  8. I think it depends on your height, weight, body mass, & etc. Due to my height & weight, I should actually have the gastric bypass because I will lose more weight, but I want he sleeve b/c I don't want anything re-routed. I liked that they typed of my reason for why, I signed it, & they put it in my chart b/c they said if I ever regret my decision, they can pull that & show me. Tell your Doctor how you feel. If she is as awesome as you said, then she will hear your thoughts & explain why she might be leaning towards one than the other. But at the end of the day, unless health reasons are a concern, you should pick what surgery you want.
  9. Having a fever & an infection while under the knife could lead to death.. Be thankful instead of angry. You will get a new day. Just be positive.. Thinking positive makes you positive. Hang in there! You got this!

I am a Patient Financial Services Representative. That title has nothing to do with what I actually do. I obtain benefits, pre-authorizations, & pre-determinations for same day, next day, & future procedures done at our hospital. I am actually on the inpatient team & my sub-group is Plastics/Bariatric. I love my job. I work at one of the top 50 hospitals in the USA.
  11. I would go see a different doctor. Sorry, but nope.

So wish I had the strength...

I been wanting this for years, but at my old job, the insurance we had didn't cover it. Now at my new job, they do cover it. I wanted this last year, but just didn't put much thought into it. After I stood in my cousins wedding in June 2015 & see how HUGE I actually was in the pictures, I said no more.. I am having surgery in September. I finally just told myself now or never.. Plus, I am turning 30 in 27 days. I want kids & I can't get pregnant until I lose all this weight. Plus, I want to watch my nieces/nephews grow up & I want to play with them. Make the decision that feels right for YOU.
  13. I want to hear YOUR favorites! Favorite Vitamins. Favorite Protein powders. Favorite recipes. Favorite meal. Favorite blender. Favorite cup/drink. Favorite plate. Favorite food scale. Favorite brands for other things that you use to help you stay on track! I am curious of everyones answers b/c I am about to start buying b/c my Doctor stated I need to start vitamins now. I been changing my eating habits slowly. I already gave up coke/pepsi drinks. I am a month out on that. I am slowly switching to non-sweetened tea. So, share your favorites! (: Thanks!

Question - is it safe to take a stool softener daily? I don't go often & I know the Nurse told me I need to take something, but wasn't sure if something daily was okay?
  16. What are you mixing your powder with? How much are you drinking?
  17. Happy Birthday. And more power to you. They wanted me around my birthday, but I said nope! I want to enjoy my birthday before I get sliced so now my surgery is in September.

    So devastated

Your first 3 post-op appointments should be included with the surgery. It is called bundling & they should do that. But call other offices in your area. I am sure there is more than 1 that will see a cash patient, even maybe work out a payment plan. Also, google companies that might give you a grant or a loan to cover it. Sorry this is happening to you. Wish the very best to you.
  19. I never heard of that. The best best is to call your insurance company. I am in NC & we see patients with all types of BCBS & from all other states.. Interesting though. Thanks for sharing!

    Protein powder question

Protein Milkshake for women is good. They have good flavors too. I read over 100 reviews & all claim they have the best flavors. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C8A6GDA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_2&smid=A3RQEI0A49N99O
  21. Is he truly supporting you though? Making sure eat right, helping you if you struggle, giving advice, a shoulder to cry on? It's one thing to say that you'll be supportive, but it's another to show it.. I don't think your weight is the ONLY thing he likes about you. Take one day at a time & see what happens. I am kinda in the same boat as you. My bf likes me how I am, but says he is supportive. I have yet to see his support.. Maybe he will show it more once I have the surgery, but then again.. He isn't educated in what I am doing so maybe he isn't sure how to show it. I wish you the best. Here if you need a ear.
  22. I would call BCBS Anthem VA & ask them their requirements. Also, write down who you spoke with, last name initial, & if they have a call reference #. Also, look in your Medical Policy book. We just did a BCBS Anthem VA & the patient didn't require a 6 month doctor check. 23. The minute I made the decision to have the surgery, all of my habits went away. It was weird. I am a person that LOVES coke/pepsi & fast food. But now? I still love fast food, but I am 4 weeks out of the carbonation beverages. I been drinking unsweet tea, Water, lemonade, & juice. I find myself looking at the nutrition label & making sure it has Protein & not much sugar or 0 sugar. I sitll eat too fast, but I decided since I gave up caffeine, now I will give up fast food. Then I will make sure my portions are smaller.. I think something 'clicked' inside of my brain & I am happy that I am making better choices. I know how you feel though. Every time I made better choices, guess what? I went backwards b/c I wanted coke with the biggest burger at the fast food place. Then I would eat when I got home. My eating was out of control. In a way, it is still out of control. But I find myself telling myself out loud, NO. Whenever I want to cheat or do wrong, I just say outloud, NO. I find that is helping a lot. I think you should tell your therapist how you feel. Don't keep your feelings inside. Here if you ever need a ear. Prayers for you & your struggles.

In just 3 months, you went from a 20 to a 12? WOW. Right now, I am a size 20/22 (depends on outfit). I should have surgery in mid-Sept. I live in NC right now & none of my family can come up for my surgery so my Mother-in-Law is going to help me right now. They won't see me until Christmas/New Years. So by then, it should be noticeable that I lost weight? I didn't think that much would come off that fast. Wow. I never been below a size 18 so I might have a field day when I can finally wear small size clothing.
