  1. I had surgery on 9-16-2015. Start weight - 279lbs. Current weight - 230lbs. 30. From Louisiana, but lives in North Carolina. No kids. Live with the boyfriend. Introducing new foods to diet & I am not doing well with them at all.
  2. GENEPRO is a lifesaver for me. I can have one cup of coffee so for Breakfast, I drink my coffee & 1 scoop of Genepro. 30g of Protein. Then if I am not that hungry, I will do another scoop later in a yogurt or something. It has no flavor. It mixes well if you follow directions.

    Question? ?

    Face & muffin top.
  4. I am at a loss. On Tuesday, I can start 'soft foods', but it doesn't really explain what soft foods are. Everything it gave as an example looks like pureed. Can you give me some recipes or what you ate for soft foods? Can I eat meat now like ground meat/turkey? I am already eating chicken/fish mashed up. I guess now I don't have to mash it up/puree it? Any guidance into this would be amazing! Thank you in advance!
  5. Mine was on Sept 16th. But you should have some guidelines from your Doctor. Every Doctor is different. Some might want you on full liquids still. Some might let you do pureed, but eat anything you want. Follow that 'cause I don't wanna give you bad advice.
  6. sugar free ice-cream is on my list that is okay, but it states to check the fat & calories. I always eat sugar free Popsicles.

    Hummus and ?

I mixed it with my tuna fish once. It was okay that way. Not sure if you can have raw veggies yet, but it is great with baby carrots, cauliflower, & broccoli.

    Constipation....

I take Miralax daily & I put Fiber powder into my drinks, food, & etc.. It has no flavor so you won't notice it. You can drink or eat with it. Both of those help me go almost daily. If you start going too much, back off & do every other day or something. I had surgery on Sept 16, 2015. I done went at least 10 times since due to this mixture. It helps.

    Child's portion card?

My Doctor gave me one. A lot of restaurants honor it. It's not just for ordering from kids menu. Some give you less food with the smaller price.
  10. Your head can you make you think a lot of things. Protein gets rid of hunger. Also, your head can make you think your stomach is hungry when in reality, you aren't.

  14. I had surgery on Sept 16th at 8:30 am. So far, I cannot complain one bit. After surgery, I finally got into a regular room. I was only hooked up to a saline bag. I walked around, drank my 1oz liquid a hour, & did everything myself. I came home yesterday around noon & with that, I was drinking 3oz liquids a hour. These are my only issues so far & I would love ANY guidance into this. Right now, I am on the Day 3-7 diet, which is 'thick' liquids. My Doctors paper states I can have 4oz up to 5 times a day. So far, I opened up a can of cream of chicken strained. It is delicious & I am tolerating it well. Also, I can start Protein shakes, plus I got to make sure to have my 64 ozes of Water. My Doctor wants me to have 60g of protein & my 8 cups of water a day. If I am only limited to 4oz of 'thick' liquids, then how can I get my protein in? Does the Protein shake not count towards the thick liquids? I just had 3oz of sugar free pudding b/c I had to take some medicine & they didn't give me liquid so I had to chop it up & mix it. (Gag). Any help would be great. Thank you so much!

    My experience..

I don't have a scale. I'm worried about not getting enough Protein a day. So I can have a few shakes with Water?

    Beans, etc.

I was told I could have 'mushy' peas. Do you eat red/white Beans still on Monday, but with no rice? Try putting it over mashed potatoes. I know it sounds crazy, but I did that in Louisiana a lot 'cause I am not crazy about rice. It tasted good. I made cajun potatoes. Yummmm. Glad I moved away 'cause I don't know what I would do when crawfish season hits. I guess when I am back down there in a few months, I will have to find out how I will eat all that great food.
  17. I am approved. I go for my pre-op appointment on August 18th. Then one month later, I will have it. Sept 17th cannot get here fast enough! And for those wondering, I got approved in North Carolina with the State Hlth Plan at BlueCrossBlueShield. Btw: I work with insurance companies all the time with getting these types of cases approved. If anyone ever needs any or guidance, let me know! I will try to help you all. Have a great day!

    confused about the approval process

Call BCBS & find out their requirements. You should have done that first. Know your benefits, what will you have to pay, & what they expect out of you. I have BCBS North Carolina & they don't require anything if you have BMI over 39. I just submitted it (I do authorizations for a living) & gave BCBS my height, weight, & BMI. I got an approval in 3 days. Each BCBS has different requirements. I am assuming CAL is California?
