Every day that you do what's necessary to care for your health is a victory, whether or not you lose weight. If you allow your frustration to get the better of you, where will you be in six months? Back at your starting weight? Don't let that be an option. Someone just reminded me of Winston Churchill's advice: "When you're going through hell, keep going."

What makes you say "feck 'em"?

I had a fellow "dance mom" ask me "oh did you start another diet? Of course she couldn't of said wow you look good or anything kind! It's just easier for people to be mean!
  4. 5 weeks post op! 34 pounds down and 12 inches lost! Feeling great. Still can't believe I had it done. I had zero problems and had no pain what so ever. It really has been one of the best decisions of my life! I hope that someone who is contemplating having VSG they read this and it helps with their decision! You can read and read and read and there is a lot of bad stuff out there with all kinds of horror stories! But.... There is also is "success in progress" stories. For the first time in my "diet life" I feel like I'm in control and I am successful! :)

That is awesome... I have been going back and forth with the idea of surgery for about a year now.

  5. 2 weeks post op today! Doing ok having a hard time adjusting to the"social part" I do fine at home but..... Going bowling with friends and not having a beer or sitting watching everyone having appetizers & then going to family functions and drinking my shakes while everyone else is having a "regular meal" or I tried going out to lunch with my family and 2 restaurants couldn't tell me how or with what ingredient s their soup had ! Jut frustrated on trying to live a normal life! I guess part of my problem is that I did not tell anyone that I had the surgery . I am kind of regretting that now???? UGH! Any advice????

    August Sleevers Check In

The one thing that worked for me to relieve the gas was to walk, walk & then walk some more! I didn't take any meds just walked. Good luck it does go away about day 3. I had my VSG on 8/18/14! Doing great:)

Hardest thing i have ever done !

I feel for you. I had my VSG the same day as you! I agree the sticking sweet stuff I awful & crushing your medicines yuck! Having no energy is hard too. But..... It only gets better from here. Try some cream of whatever soups with unflavored protein powder it's better (I think) stop being so hard on yourself! Do what you can do just stay hydrated & take a nap!
  8. One week out from my surgery! WHOOP WHOOP! Feeling great! I can't believe how I feel . I haven't taken so much as a Tylenol since I left the hospital. I had no pain ( except when they took the drain tube out), only lasted a minute) the full liquid diet has been going good, however I don't think I am going to want anything sweet for a long long long time after I can actually eat something!! Why is all the protein shakes, sugar free stuff all so sickening sweet? Oh we'll I really can't complain. I still can't believe that I've had my surgery and I feel this good I keep pinching myself to make sure it's all real! Here's to hoping that those who are having a rough time will have an easier time. My new favorite THIS TOO SHALL PASS

Thanks, just taking it cliché' as it may seem one day at a time! of course I want the weight off fast & more but....... don't we all. :)

  9. Hi jezika! I am a newbie too! I had my 1st Dr's appt on March 31,2014 & after all the NUT, Psych,PT & Dr's visits I was approved by July & I had my VSG on August 18 th 1 week out! It seems like it takes forever to get your surgery but.... Just keeping thinking positively! And you will get there. Good luck to you and just take it day by day. The weight didn't come on overnight. ( although it feels like it sometimes) glad to add you to "my friends"
  10. The pre-op diet is hard at first, I was on full liquids for 2 weeks and my liver enzymes & levels were normal. But, after surgery the Dr told me my liver was really fatty! So my suggestions to you are stick with it & try & think of what you CAN do after the surgery! You wouldn't want to come this far and have to cancel the surgery because of your liver being to large & you have to be on full liquids after surgery also. Good luck you. Can do it!
  11. Had surgery on Monday August 18,2014. All went well I had severe nausea but thankfully it went away by the second day. I was home 2 days later and I am so surprised I have had no pain and the nausea is very little. Just taking it easy walking, drinking, and walking some more!

  12. I'm a week and a half into the full liquid diet! I got a little over confident last week & thought this isn't so bad , well.... This week has been much harder. Thinking about everything I can't have. Cooking dinner for my family & then drinking mine. I did take a couple bites of some things this week . Then feeling completely disgusted with myself for doing so. Has anyone ever had their surgery cancelled due to the liver not small enough?

Don't kick yourself, I too had a couple of nibbles of soft food during my pre-op. Actually on two occasions, both times it was cheese with a little shaved ham. If it's some soft meat or something like that, just get back on the liquid wagon, and you'll be fine. Hang in there....you'll be so glad you did! :)

Thanks, I was focusing more on what I couldn't have instead of what I can do after the surgery! #suckitupbuttercup! ;)

  13. I am a total "newbie" and I have no idea where to type things in or how to add my story! as you can tell i am not a "techy" type person! I am scheduled for GVS on August 18,2014 YAY! I would love some pointers, tips, suggestions on how to navigate this website? chat? Post? D@#N TECHNOLOGY!

Up at the top of the page go to the Forums link, then Gastric Sleeve Forums. At the top of that page, you will see an option to Tell Your Story. On that link, toward the bottom of the Tell Your Story paragraph, you should see a box on the lower right corner that says Tell Your Story. Click on that and start typing. When you are done, scroll down to the bottom of the typing box and click POST.
