Ok. I am now officially frustrated. I had RNY bypass 10/2003. Lost 108 lbs. Was stupid and regained about 70 lbs. before I went back to my surgeon totally embarrassed. We did a revision 9/2008. I've been bouncing between 130-160, but that's not the problem. The problem is that for the past 17 months, I've been vomiting. It wasn't much at first and only copious amounts of very thick mucous, the consistency of Karo syrup. Now it's very frequent and is often food. Averaging every other day; but no real pattern. I can eat 1/2 of a sandwich one day with NO problem. The next day I eat the other half and I heave 1-3 times! Sometimes it's within 30 min. of eating; sometimes it's up to 2 hours later. Conferred with my surgeon and over the past year, had UGI, CT abd/pelvis, abd. X-ray and endoscopy. Finally after 13 months, surgeon thought it was maybe a defect with the anastomosis at the jejuno-jejunostomy. Went in 2/10/15 for laparoscopic revision of that, but it looked fine. So instead, he just took down (loosened up) a LOT of adhesions. Instead of going home the next day, I got an ileus and was in the hospital for 5 days. And I'm STILL vomiting!! 2 days ago, I had another endoscopy. For the most part, I'm paying cash for the surgical interventions. But I'm still vomiting and hurting. I know it happens sometimes when I eat too much or eat too much fatty or fried things. But not ALWAYS. I finally realize that I'm starting to get down about this; and that takes a lot for me. I've done everything I can do medically. I'm trying so hard to be "good". But the symptoms are not consistent. Has anyone else had a similar experience. My surgeon and I and the gastroenterologist are perplexed and after $25,000, I still don't have an answer. Any thoughts, similar stories or words of encouragement would be appreciated. BTW, I'm not even losing a lot of weight from throwing up all the time as the only things that go down are the high carb; high calorie things. Just not fair!!! (lol)
