    Complications

It MIGHT be possible you have a slow leak of blood somewhere in GI. There is no question that you need to talk to your surgeon. Do not settle for a PA or ARNP. Talk to the baraitric surgeon about your low blood count. I'm not saying that's it, but there was just an article in Bariatric times about it. Just a thought. Good luck.

    Rash?

To MamaTo3inNH; ??? I'd question what that nurse was telling you, for SURE. It is not logical For the original questing; are you now or were you on an antibiotic post op?? That could cause a reaction.

    Dump syndrome?

Who ever posted "I never had it; just get light headed"; light headedness can be part of dumping. Dumping has to do with the spike and then sudden drop in insulin as food sugars "dump" into the small bowel and pancreas responds to the rise in blood sugar. Can be mild or absolutely MISERABLE!

    Is it Inevitable

Although everyone is different, you probably will lose a fair amount of hair. No not all. You don't go bald; it just thins out (EXTRA WT LOSS!!). Yes, it grows back. Buying supplements not worth $. You won't necessarily be nauseated, and aren't you in pain now by being overweight?? Compare that long term pain(s) to a short post op recovery pain. Good luck!

    Poop

Maybe a daily BM was your norm before. But this new program is not your norm. A person can go every 1-3 days and that's still within normal. Also, maybe your making your bowel dependent on the MOM. That shouldn't be being used all the time. If you are concerned, do bring it up to your Dr. But I think patience, decrease the MOM and realize your body may not need to evacuate every day. Good luck.

    Pain in left side

I am continually bothered by patients that say they are not getting quality care from their surgeons. YOU DESERVE BETTER!! His (or her) answer is of NO USE or value. You need to let them know that. And if they still don't give you a better answer, GO TO SOMEONE ELSE!! This whole journey is huge and a long road! His smug answer is simply not acceptable. I'm an RN; I see no relation between an amputation and GBP. Is the pain by a trocar site? Maybe it nicked a nerve; unavoidable, but it will get better. Do/did you have a JP drain there? Do you have lung issues?? You deserve better. I agree with the above; GP or ER if you're not satisfied. And of COURSE you're special!! We ALL are. That's why we deserve a physician who can deal with these variables. Stay strong! Good luck.
  7. Isopure. Can get it at a nutrition store. powder or liquid in bottles (the one I use). One bottle is 40 grams Protein (be sure to get the one w/o carbs) and comes in several flavors. I only do grape and orange. To me it tastes better if cold or as a slushy over crushed ice. Try a bottle; I bet you'll love it!

    Just woke up to vomit

Reflux/acid. Probably need to be on a proton pump inhibitor. Call your Dr. Did you eat just before laying down? Need to be upright a good hour after eating before bed.

    Dump syndrome?

Too much sugar DUMPS into your intestines fast; body responds by putting out more insulin which then lowers the blood glucose too fast and too much. Fix it fast with, you guessed it, more sugar. That gives quick relef from symptomw which can feel quite awful. Exercising too much soon after eating can also cause this. You'll learn how to control this. It does not feel good!!

    Letting go of my armour

I sew; but SUCK at altering! Make at least 1 professional adjustment a gift to yourself for your great progress. You'll be glad you did. Let me know how it works out.

    Letting go of my armour

I have had many plastic surgeries since my wt loss and STILL can't find clothes that fit. Not even underwear!! I'm short and still stocky and my waist is very high. You might want to consider having one or two of your favorites altered; that way you ease into it and still enjoy the clothes that helped you survive. It's worth the money. Good luck.

    Letting go of my armour

This is all very understandable. Believe me; there will be a time when you rejoice. BTW; keep at least one of your largest outfits. It will blow you away later and you'll be glad you saved it. It it definitely a head game. You stated your view very nicely!
  13. With our history or losing and gaining multiple times, of course it's normal to feel some terpidation. And you can help yourself by knowing tha you probably will gain back at least some of what you lost. There are statistics out there the can help you understand the percentages. I put back so much, that I opted for a revision. I have no regrets. But no, this is not a cure. For me, I feel my weight has always been, and WILL always be , an issue. But the decision to do this has been one wild rider and I only wish I had done it sooner!
  14. I am sorry; for ALL the people who have had this experience. This very private decision is yours and yours alone. That having been said, your wt. loss and change in eating will be evident to all soon enough. If they ask, just say you are on a special program with your Dr. and prefer to not discuss it, then quickly ask a diverting question about THEM. Many people will be so proud of you, they won't be able to hold their tongue. Others will be so threatened by your guts that they will have to belittle you what ever way they can to elevate themselves. While your mom betrayed you, is it really worth cutting her off COMPLETELY? She's the only mom you'll ever have. Avoid this topic completely for now. But give yourself time to get over it. You may both want to Celebrate your success later. But, yeah! For now, be pissed!!
  15. Coughing up bright red blood post-op from abdominal surgery can be a sign of pulmonary embolism. Do not hesitate or delay; call you surgeon ASAP.

    Gas pains

    WALK! Move. It will pass.
  17. OF COURSE! It's like a person that dies and you think of them! It is a loss, no mistake about it! That having been said, there may be a time in the future that you'll be able to have a bit of some of the old things. I remember my first night after surgery; I had THE most vivid dream of a PERFECT grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes done to perfection. food was/is a very strong presence in our lives and society. Hang in there. You've done a great thing for yourself!
  18. I'm in a similar situation. I'm having issues with the rerouting and get very ill when I eat certain things. There might be a stress factor as one day I eat something; repeat the exact same thing the next day, but get sick from it. I vomit copious amounts of thick mucous. That started about last Jan. '13. It's gotten progressively worse and after UGI, CT and upper endo, I finally went back to the surgeon and he wants to go in and revise the jejunojejunostomy. The thing is, if I STOP eating soon enough, I can control the pain. If I don't, I vomit not only mucous now, but have to vomit the partially digested food to get relief from the pain. Sometimes I have to help it along by sticking my finger down my throat. But the "SICK" part is, then I still want to eat more!! I make myself worse by not stopping soon enough. I sure hope the surgery helps! I see Dr. Monday to reevaluate and schedule it. BTW; what is "myfitnesspal" and where do you get it?
  19. rte837

    Vitamins

WLS Vitamins.com Developed by a bariatric surgeon. Complete; very reasonably priced. BUT, caltrate with d is a good value especially if you find a coupon in the paper. I doubt ins. will pay. Never heard of that. But do keep receipts. Can itemize on taxes as you NEED it to live.

    Change of heart?

Theoretically, yes. But good luck fining a surgeon who would do it. Plus, your "plumbing" would never be perfectly the same. That being said, what's your story? I'd like to hear more. You must not have considered yourself "normal" to begin with or you wouldn't have had this done. Let's be honest; the maker didn't intend for humans to carry 400+ lbs on a 5'2" frame. That is not "normal". When did you have your surgery done and what are some of your issues?? Things evolve over the course of time. I'm always amazed at some of the posts as many times, these concerns could be so easily addressed by your Doctor. Maybe you need to speak to him/her. Or maybe you need to speak to a different one if you're not getting the help you need. If you want, you can email me at rtempes@cfl.rr.com. I'm 11 yrs. out and did have a revision after 5 years (to RE-do, no UN-do the surgery). Tell my your concerns; maybe I can shed some light?? Hang in there.
  22. Try WLS (weight loss surgery); whole line; through Jefferson Vaughan at Jupiter Medical Center in Fl. The B12 is sublingual and tastes like mild strawberry. I won't use anything else.
  23. Many of the nutrients/vitamins in food get absorbed in the part of the stomach and duodenum that are bypassed. supplements are needed for that reason. It is for life. BUT, you still absorb calories!
