I had horrible thoughts too as i have some burning and stinging/twingy feeling but i went to Dr. Jay yesterday in dallas and he said all that can be normal and not to worry about it i'm 2 1/2 weeks out of surgery and i do feel alot better knowing that he has told me that; he said infection would show oozing, redness, puss etc.

i am 2 weeks out, was banded 1/16/06 and i lost 15 lbs and now have gained 2 or 3 back after mushies; i think it's normal to gain as you are putting more food back into your stomach; heck i'll basically be on normal food before the first fill, so.................. to go from broth to food, yeah you will gain; i am even walking every day and i'm with NJChick, up one, down 1 etc. I think until after the filling, it's up and down; i think it is about healing, like i said i am 2 weeks out and i am still having pain and burning sensations here and there; i have been out of work 2 weeks and don't know if i am ready to go back or not. did anyone else take more time

Are You REALLY Hungry the First Six Weeks???
Jamoorse replied to danaclark2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm with NJChick, all I thought about was "real" food and when; i got so tired of the liquid phase for 2 weeks; i moved on to mushies about 1 1/2 week into it and still on mushies; living on eggs and milkshakes etc; Now we didn't have to go through pureed food at all, that to me would be horrible; we could just eat soft foods and chew them well like milkshakes, creamed soups (broccolli and cheese and told them to leave th ebroccoli out, potato soup, tomato soup), eggs, eggsalad, refriend beans with queso on top; No way could i do pureed foods; Going for my 2 week check up today; -
Hi this is Julie, Julie; i go to see Dr. Jay today at 1:30, I am two weeks out of surgery;i too am on mushy foods and i hd lost 14 lbs but i see a couple pounds creep'n up; i have been told that the main thing is healthy and yes there could be some weight gain until the fills start; i have even been walking a mile + to keep it even but you have to admit going from broth to eggs, beans etc is going to put some on; the sugar fre pudding chocolate is to die for.

Hey it's Julie from Plano, TX; I was banded on 1/16/06 and going in today for my 2 week check up; I had Dr. Jaysaleen or Dr. Jay to most; I have been off work for 2 weeks and still don't feel up to go but we will see what the doctor says; Is anyone else been recently banded?
-
I'm with you, all this erosion talk is scary if you ask me; so you are just now getting the burning/twingy feel?
-
well i see him tomorrow or someone and that's 2 weeks out, my stomach is still sore andi am suppose to go back to work on thursday we wills ee; i'm on short term disability so not a big thing? i am hungry and eating pretty much normal just no meat yet; tell me about the fill-how long did it take and did it hurt
-
when were you banded? had you lost weight from when you had surgery to the first fill? I was banded 2 weeks ago and am going in tomorrow for my 2 week appointment; i'm starving, eating soft foods constantly; i want to move on past soft foods; Oh i can easily eat more than a handful of food, i've eaten a 3 egg omelete and cottage cheese in one sitting with no problem
-
you are going back to work already, oh my, i had mine the 16th and not going back yet; i also have red marks and soreness from the bandages; yeah i thought his office had said by the time the people come in for their first fill they have gained from post op time; are you sleeping in your bed; i can't yet; getting out of a car is tough for me; where do you work
-
thank you, you do make me feel better; i'm hoping the doctor will sign for me to stay out longer through the short term disability at least until next week? I have to drive 25 miles one way and i don't think i can do it; the reaction time is scary; so i am on the sfot foods any good ideas, cottage cheese and eggs are getting old,
-
ok how do i know that there is no infection inside of me i'm 2 weeks out today; not ready to go back to work, is this normal
-
ok; how are you doing didi; i was banded by dr. jay on the 16th; i go this wednesday for my 2 week check up; i had lost at first but this 2nd week with some soft foods, starting to gain back up; kind of scary; i don't know when he will do the first fill; i have soreness to the belly and that bothers me some, a lot of people say that is normal even 2 weeks out; sometimes it feels like it is stinging/burning, who knows; did everyone lose weight and not gain anything back???????????? before the first fill?????????????????
-
Delarla you make my day; i am a worry wart and I have been worrying; i go to the doctor on wednesday; but i am to return to work on thursday, on short term disability and odn't know if i am going to be ready; i drive 25 miles one way and i just don't know about it; my best friend had hers done 2 days before me and she feels great;
-
How do you know if you have infection; would a person get an infection only after 2 weeks? did anyone else have soreness to the belly after surgery or take long to get going?
-
ok so i shouldn't have erosion since I am only 2 weeks out of surgery; why are all you getting endos? How do you know if you need an endo
-
so how do you know if you have an infection:help:
-
where is this burning/stinging at? mine is around the belly button area; but not when i eat, just off and on;; i feel great at times and then others my stomach or the port area just hurts to get up and down; i'm 2 weeks banded; why do you think you need an endo
-
yeah but did you have them within 2 weeks of surgery?
-
yes the doctor said nothing over 20 lbs for 6 weeks; i think i could have pulled something or the port can move on its side too and remain there; all i know is that i am very very sore on the left side where the port is;
-
why do you think you need an endo, why do you someone of you think you are eroded, what symptons do you have, this doctor in mexico must be horrible
-
I would think then your doctor will fill you when? when you aren't losing? what type of diet does he keep you on? I know dr. jay will not fill if you gain 10 lbs, have to show the dedication and follow his strict path.
-
yes I was banded 1/16/05 and he's the best, he's done the most in dallas, it's all he does, he has 3 centers; great support group, great staff; very caring and understanding; go to one of his seminars and you will be impressed;
-
so he never tells you if you will have a fill or not? why have the band then? the doctor here who has done over 1800 schedules them 4 weeks after first appointment then another one about 6 weeks later
-
when i cut and paste my ticker, it doesn't show
-
Hi again, my stomach is still sore 2 weeks out and yes i get stinging and burning sensations too; i am doing a lot of different things like walking, doing some things around the house, not suppose to go back to work until thursday after i see the doctor jaysaleen on wednesday; but i tell you getting up off the chair or out of the car is very painful; i don't feel ready to go back to work;
